Romeo and Juliet, the tale of two teenagers lustily in love. Near all have heard this tale, “the story of two star-crossed lovers, who take their lives.” Romeo and Juliet takes place in Verona, Italy. Where two feuding families lose their only children to fate. The forcefulness of love was very impactful on these two. In Romeo and Juliet, there are three key themes that will apply not only to that day in age but today's society as well. The themes I found were age, identity, and revenge. The theme-age is presented strongly throughout the play of Romeo and Juliet. Age is what greatly separates characters. Not only does age separate how elder a person is to how young one is if shows how wise one can be compared to another. Being aged, one …show more content…
See, a person can get revenge in a lot of ways; they can hurt someone you care about, they can disrupt something or someone close to you. In this play, revenge is shown in a sorrowful and quite gruesome way. In act three, there is a brawl between three key characters; Romeo, Tybalt, and Mercutio. Now Tybalt has reasons for upbringing this fight. The simple fact was he did not enjoy the fact that his cousin (Juliet) was associating herself with his rival the Montagues (Romeo). Romeo then begins to go on about how he has reasons to love Tybalt and does not wish to brawl with him; owing to he no longer wants to be enemies with the Capulets. Mercutio stands against Romeo’s statements and says “If Romeo does not fight Tybalt, I will do so,” and he does. Mercutio brawls with Tybalt for a long while and unfortunately Mercutio gets wounded and bleeds out resulting in a gory death. Romeo beings only to think with his Amygdala. (He only using emotion to rationalize) Enraged, from his confidant’s death, Romeo declares his love for Juliet and how he must avenge the death of Mercutio. As Tybalt rushes from the scene of Mercutio's body, Romeo draws his sword and fights him as Tybalt did Mercutio; but in this fight, Romeo slays Tybalt and gets banished from Verona. Revenge is very present in today’s world as well. Many people get hurt or watch others be hurt and just want to take in into their own hands. For an example, imagine a woman waking up only to realize that her husband has cheated on her. This woman is going to be distraught and wants to hurt the man just as awfully as he did her. She wants revenge for herself. There are many instances like this, thus showing how often revenge takes
When Romeo shows up, Romeo tries to keep the peace but Tybalt says, "Boy, your words can't excuse the harm you've done to me, so now turn and draw your sword". Mercutio, however, stands up for Romeo and fights Tybalt. They "fight", but eventually, Tybalt accidentally kills Mercutio, then flees. His rage and desire for Romeo caused the death of another person. He keeps seeking fights out of his anger.
Imagine if you loved someone so much that you were willing to die for them. This is how the two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, feel in the play Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet takes place in Verona, Italy during the Elizabethan era. In this play, the big conflict for the two lovers is that they cannot marry each other and be a happy couple due to their families hatred for each other. When this happens, the two decide to marry each other in secret with the help of Friar Lawrence.
These star crossed lovers tried to make it work, but in the end they tried and it never worked. This is the story of two lovers, Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet takes place in the city of Verona. Romeo is of the Montague family and Juliet is of the Capulet family. There has been a war between the two very highly respected families.
“For never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo.” (5.3.320-321). This story takes place in Verona. It happens during the middle ages. Romeo and Juliet is a story about two star crossed lovers and their tragic death.
Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare is a story of two lovers at first sight, set in Verona Italy. It starts with a heart broken Romeo forced into looking for a new love. He finds Juliet at the party and they are married by the next day. Unfortunately, this is a story of tragedy. There is another fight between the Montagues and Capulets.
When Mercutio dies Romeo cannot ignore Tybalt any longer and decides to take revenge against him to restore and defend what Mercurio was trying to protect, the Montague family honor. Romeo not being able to let Mercutio or his family’s honor be tainted kills Tybalt as an act of revenge. Romeo succeeded in defending not only the Montague family honor but
Romeo and Juliet was set in Verona, Italy, where there was a ongoing feud between the Montague and Capulet families. The play opened with servants from both houses engaged in a street brawl that eventually drawed in the family patriarchs and the city officials. This feud causes tragic results for the main characters in the play, Romeo and Juliet. The events contrast hatred and revenge with love and a secret marriage, forcing the young star-crossed lovers to grow up quickly and die tragically in despair. Shakespeare positions the audience to feel emotions and fear for the two star crossed lovers.
Romeo & Juliet written by Shakespeare in 1595 is a powerful and poetic tragedy. The story tells of a young boy and a very young girl falling in love. Both the lovers live within Verona, a city in Italy. Romeo is from the house of Montague and Juliet from the house of Capulet. The two houses have been at war for awhile which prevent the two “star-crossed lovers” from being free to fall in love.
The magnificently written Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare is a tragic tale about lust and love, and the lovers take their own lives. The tale takes place in a Italian city called Verona were two rival family are in a dispute against which house is superior, but out of this, two destined lovers found each other and fell in love. But in thinking too fast their plan gets crushed and turns into something far more depressing then it should have been.
What is love? Is it an object? Is it a feeling? Is it even attainable? Love is everything, it is an object, it is an emotion, and it cannot be bought, stolen, given. Love can only be found. Love is discovered in the most unthinkable places during the most unimaginable times. It can never be predicted who you fall in love with or when you do but all you do know is that you are in love and you would give anything for that person, and for your love to always stay resilient through all other obstacles and distractions. In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Montague’s and Capulet’s are know and expected to hate each other until the miracle of love presented its self. Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet. They both fell in love when
In Romeo and Juliet, the element of revenge is brought out as a human endeavor. In the process of script development in Acts III, most of the activities are inspired by a revengeful attitude. Tybalt is not happy when Romeo makes an appearance at the ball party. He, therefore, hatches a plan to eliminate Mercutio. This agenda succeeds, and Romeo is, obviously, furious about it.
Is love a special connection or is it something more physical? Throughout many centuries the perspective of love has always revolved around an association that the two people have in common. William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, we see how love is diverse; Romeo talked about Rosaline. He mentioned that he was very depressed and even offered her money to marry him. Today, love is a crave, something that people do not take much time to think on.
In contrast, Mercutio attempts to stop Tybalt’s thirst for vengeance when he tries to duel Romeo but ultimately gets killed in the process of trying to save his good friend from being killed by Tybalt which causes Romeo to take vengeance upon Tybalt by killing him.
The visual text Romeo and Juliet directed by Baz Luhrmann is a story about two teenage couples who is stuck in between the feud of their families the Montagues and Capulets. The feud doesn’t let their relationship last which led to their death. The closing scene helped me understand me understand the theme love is the strongest weapon that no other weapons of life can overcome. An important aspect in the visual text is the forcefulness of love, the inevitability of fate and effect of violence on an individual.
The theme of revenge is very abundant in Shakespeare’s writing, and can be found in The Merchant of Venice when he said “If you prick us do we not bleed? If you tickle us do we not laugh? If you poison us do we not die? And if you wrong us shall we not revenge?” (3, 1, 60) . In the same way, the same concept is applied to Romeo and Juliet; for example, Tybalt slew Mercutio, therefore, Romeo slew Tybalt for revenge. The action of “vengeance” has been separating Romeo and Juliet because later on Romeo is exiled to Mantua; this creates miscommunication which it didn’t let the escape plan be executed properly. Also, to make things even worst, the Capulets got revenge by exiling Romeo, as Lady Capulet said: “I beg for justice, which thou, prince, must give; Romeo slew Tybalt, Romeo must not live” (3, 2, 185). If no one from the families were hungry to get revenge, the teenagers would not have died since Romeo would not have been exiled. Thus, an escaping plan would not be needed; nobody would have paid for the
