The Google Glass is one of the most popular new examples of wearable technology [19]. The Google Glass is a pair of glasses, prescription or non-prescription, that has a camera, touchpad and a display that can do multiple technological tasks: search, navigation, Gmail, Calendar, Now cards, phone calls, text messages, photos, videos, and video calls [17]. Glass has yet to be released to the public, but has been available for developers since February 2013 [9]. Although the Google Glass is still a relatively new piece of technology [17], it certainly hasn’t been lacking debates on the legality and privacy concerns of the device.

Despite being a potentially lifesaving device, there have been some concerns from people inside and outside the medical field’s community. These concerns include privacy concerns, fear of users being distracted, HIPAA compliance, and network issues, but Google Glass has the ability to overcome each of these obstacles. With the correct applications, proper training, and the correct network, along with the current rules already enforced in the medical field, these hurdles can easily be conquered.

As a young caddie running up and down the course, I saw my uncle slamming the ground with a golf club. I always found him so angry, playing the game of golf. I stopped running and watched him play; I studied his body as he elegantly swung the club through the air. Sweat dripping from his nose, his shirt soaked completely through. Humankind has gone through many ages including the Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, the Middle ages, Machine age, and the period we are in today. Many valid arguments for what period we are in today including the Big Data Age, Social Age, or even Information Age. However, I think a valid argument can also be made for the Glass Age. Throughout this course we have covered many topics while using a wide variety of equipment and technology all made possible through the advancements of glass. From window panes absorbing UV radiation, microscope lenses or eye glasses, to the fiberoptic cable that keeps us in an information age. Todays world would not be possible without glass.

Its weight is less than a pair of sunglasses ( approximately nine pounds ) and it basically operated by touch and voice.” (Tuffley,2013) Since Google Glass comes with the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, you could connect your Google Glass with your mobile devices such a smart phone, via Bluetooth. Google Glass also able to translate your speech to text, with it connected to your mobile devices, you can now chat instantly with your friends on Chat Room or Instant Messaging without looking down on your smart phones, instead, you just have to “talk” to them. Google Glass is said to be an almost “hands free device”, the propose of it is to create a more active lifestyle with our advanced technology, it is enough for us seeing people meeting up in a café, meanwhile all they do is just looking down on their smart phones instead of talking to each other, and they could call that a “gathering”, yet it is actually just a group of people sitting together looking at their smart phones separately.
