Federalism is the decision made by the Foundering fathers to split power between state and national governments. The supporters of the proposed constitution called themselves “federalists” and those opposed called themselves “anti-federalists.” Shared power between the states and federal government caused bitter fights and disagreements over power, rights and equality between the people.
