The Effects of Global Warming
Introduction
Global warming has been discussion for many years, but has, in the last decade or two been at the forefront of attention. The enormous effects and potential risks on humanity that can result from rise in global temperatures and the environment must be addressed, because the earth after all is finite. “Globalization refers to the rise of average temperature of oceans and earth’s atmosphere. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the earth’s average surface temperature increased 0.8 °C with the most since 1980. Recent increased drought, unusual heat, wildfires, hurricanes, and water shortages are clear indicators of global warming.” (Haldar, 2011) The fact is, global warming seems to be caused by

Methane is produced naturally in wetlands and arctic tundra causing global warming. The natural causes of global warming are related to the changes in the earth through various evolution processes even without human involvement.” (Maslin, 2007)
Anthropogenic (human) Causes
The current changes in earth’s temperature are also a result of human expansion of industrial and technological contributions. “Since the industrial, revolution, numerous human activities have significantly altered atmospheric greenhouse gases. Unlike natural causes of global warming which are gradual, human causes are rapid and have the most damage.” (Shrivastava, 2007) The main gases which have influence are carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, methane, and chlorofluorocarbons. “Different human actions trigger the balance or level of these gases in the atmosphere like flaming of fossil fuels (CO2), and mining (Methane) hence contributing to global warming by the destruction of natural/rain forests, increased industrial activity, agriculture, transportation, and housing. Since the 1980s, there has been an overwhelming increase in industrial processes and transportation which uses fossil fuels.” (Shrivastava, 2007)
Mitigation of Global Warming
Various strategies have been put in place to mitigate global warming. “Some used strategies are clean coal technology and carbon
Global Warming has been a very serious conversation over the last decade, because it affects every person living on the planet whether we choose to believe it or not. Most of the scientific community claims that global warming is to blame for the changes in Earth’s climate. However, there are a small number of scientists who deny the very existence of global warming. Temperatures on earth have increased approximately 1.4°F since the early 20th century. Over time, atmospheric levels of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) have notably increased. Both sides in the debate surrounding global climate change agree on the CO2 and CH4 being increased and that’s it.
Global warming is one of the most tumultuous topics in today’s society. Some believe it is happening as we speak, while others question its very existence, So, is it real, or is merely a hoax? There is no one answer, but evidence does overwhelmingly support the former. Surely we have all heard this word at one time or another, but few individuals actually know its true definition. Justifiably, however, global warming is not that simply explained. In layman’s terms, it is the dramatic increase in the Earth’s average air and ocean temperature since the 20th century. This increase is primarily attributed to two main culprits: the greenhouse effect and human activity, such as fossil fuel burning. In both cases, carbon dioxide (CO2) is the
In the last 100 years, the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has increased, causing the Earth to warm by an average of 0.6 degrees celsius, largely a result of burning fossil fuels for energy, transportation, and land use changes increased for food production. The basic science is straightforward and climate researchers have shown that gases such as carbon dioxide, methane and others can trap heat in the Earth’s atmosphere, causing a phenomenon known as the greenhouse effect. Human activities such as industry, transport, energy generation and deforestation all produce these greenhouse gases. In the last 20 years, concern has grown that global warming is inevitable and now considered most probably caused by man-made increases in
Scientists attribute a huge percentage of the gas accumulation to the human activities using fossil fuels and whose operation leads to the release of significant amounts of carbon dioxide and other toxic gasses into the air. The rate of temperature rise since the industrial revolution shows a significant change of 38% due to the constant emission of toxic gasses from human activity (Lonnie, 153).
In 2005, the average temperature of the earth rose at the greatest rate in history. Coal burning and automobile industries are the largest contributors to human activities that enhance global warming. Technological advances play a significant role in aiding to minimize the effects of global warming. Modern vehicles run on clean and burn fewer gases. Developments in the energy industries result in the generation of electricity using non-polluting sources. When discussing global warming, it is critical to understand the following terms. The atmosphere, ecosystem, climate, climate system, environment, fossil fuel, glacier, greenhouse effect, greenhouse gas, habitat and industrial revolution
The United States Environmental Association (EPA) has listed natural changes in greenhouse gas (GHG) concentrations, volcanic eruptions and solar energy as some of the natural causes of climate changes on earth. However, the recent climate changes cannot be explained by natural causes alone. Research indicates that natural causes are very unlikely to explain most observed warming, especially warming since the mid-20th century. Rather, human activities can very likely explain most of that warming. These human activities are the causes of anthropogenic climate changes. The article also adds “Since the Industrial Revolution began around 1750; human activities have contributed substantially to climate change by the addition of CO2 and other heat-trapping gases to the atmosphere. These greenhouse gas emissions have increased the greenhouse effect has caused Earth’s surface temperature to rise. This is the primary reason which is affecting the amount and rate of climate change is greenhouse gas emissions from the burning of fossil fuels.” Other activities that initiate climate changes are caused by the gas emissions from fossil fuels used to heat homes, petroleum based fuels like gasoline and diesel used for transportation and electricity production which comes from burning fossil fuels.
The first video I watched was “An Inconvenient “by Al Gore. In this video Gore is explaining about how the earth has became hotter than it ever has before. The ten hottest years we have ever had have been in the last fourteen years. According to the video the hottest year was in 2005. From Gore’s viewpoint we as the people are causing global warming by ourselves. Because we are the ones that are causing global warming it is having some major effects on the earth. You have Mt. Kilimanjaro, which over the years has had a lot of snow on top of the mountain, but over the years the mountain has been getting less and less snow. Global warming is not a political issue it is a moral issue that we have to make better. The reason we have stronger storms today is because of the temperature increase according to Gore. An example of a huge storm would be hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. In today’s world we worry about terrorist, but we should really be worrying about global warming. If we don’t take this seriously our Artic is going to be completely melted. Some of our states such as Florida and New York will be under water. Gore says we need to work together and stand up before it is to late and the place we call home is gone.
Global warming is a very important issue of which there are divided opinions. During the last 50 years global warming has increased at a remarkably accelerated speed, which may raise suspicions to find out why this is happening in this way. Some people believe that global warming is not real, but scientists say that if we do not slow gas emissions to the atmosphere, temperatures could rise by about 10 ° in the next century. There are many theories and reports that try to explain the reasons why this remarkable increase in temperature is happening. There is only one thing that is certain, and that is that if we do not join together to do something before it is too late, our planet will suffer great damage.
Ideally, everyone has characteristics of pattern one and pattern two. I do not think anyone is full independence and interdependence but a combining of both. Growing up my parents raise my siblings and me as an interdependence which we obeyed our parents and elders. During my teenage years, it was battle between independence and interdependence. Being 15, I was discovering who I was and becoming my own person.
Moreover, the first human effect for climate change is the greenhouse Gases in which human activities result in emissions of four principal greenhouse gases: carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O) and the halocarbons (a group of gases containing fluorine, chlorine and bromine). These gases accumulate in the atmosphere, causing concentrations to increase with time. Significant increases in all of these gases have occurred in the industrial era (see Figure 1). All of these increases are attributable to human activities. Carbon dioxide has increased from fossil
The concept of global warming has become one of the most widely debated and controversial topics of our time. Scientists learned long ago that the earth’s climate has powerfully shaped the history of humanity. However, it is only in the past few decades that research has revealed that humans have a significant influence on the climate as well. A growing body of scientific evidence indicates that since 1950, the world’s climate has been warming, primarily as a result of emissions from the burning of fossil fuels and the destruction of tropical forests. More importantly, an article titled "Global Warming" published in the New York Times shows that methane, a gas that is emitted from landfills, livestock and oil gas facilities,
Greenhouse gases and the earth’s temperature have fluctuated at a steady pace throughout scientific history, except in recent decades. Many believe that the advances of the industrial age contributed to the greenhouse effect (national geographic, 2010). This argument is rooted in the belief that global warming is man-made and caused by such things as air pollution and industrial waste (2010).
World facing one of the biggest problem is desertification due to environmental changes human abuse of forest resources as fuel and avail land for residence agriculture cultivation. Wood is considered to be main source of fuel of urban and rural population of India. Use of fossil fuels results in air pollution which is a major problem and directly resulting in smog and degradation of human health and plant growth. The impact of global warming on the environment extensive and affects many areas. Due to warmer temperatures are causing the ice to melt in Arctic and Antarctica will increase sea level and change the composition of surrounding sea water.
Global warming is happening and needs to be stopped. Global warming is the increase in the earth's average temperature that occurs naturally (Flynn). Global warming is a serious problem, and from what scientist can gather from the research, the main producers of greenhouse gas emission are humans, causing serious threats to the Earth. Research on global warming has shown that terrible storms, droughts, and floods are increasing at an alarming rate. Furthermore, global warming is causing harm to crops. Throughout history, species have responded to the changing of the world’s temperature. A hazardous concern, however, is the wildlife and ecosystems of balance at this rapid rate of change happening today. Furthermore, global warming is causing harm to crops. The government must take action. Some of the economists call global warming the greatest example of failure the world has ever seen. Global warming must be abolished because global warming is destroying the world.
Global warming is truly a world-wide controversy. This concept has baffled scientists time and time again as some argue the grip humanity has on warmer temperatures while others mark the “Greenhouse Effect” as a small occurrence. However, after researching, it has become obvious that the Earth’s rising temperatures have many causes to blame and plenty of significant effects. Specifically, methane, nitrogen oxide and carbon dioxide negatively affect our planet. Although it may seem at times impossible to curb our ever heating home away from a dangerous course, there are ways to solve this phenomenon carefully. First, one must examine what makes our planet so hot and secondly, why this is a big deal.
