Electricity contributes to 32% of greenhouse gases for 2012. Over 70% of electricity comes from burning fossil fuels. Transportation contributes to 28% of the greenhouse gases in 2012 and over 90% of transportation is powered by petroleum based fuels like gasoline and diesel. Industry is the third most leading cause and is responsible of 20% of the greenhouse gases of 2012. These greenhouse gases are produced from the chemical reactions necessary to produce products from raw materials. These gases are responsible for blanketing the earth and trapping in heat from the sun. The mainly agreed cause of climate change in the scientist community is the greenhouse effect.
“Certain gases in the atmosphere block heat from escaping. Long-lived gases that remain semi-permanently in the atmosphere and do not respond physically or chemically to changes in temperature are described as "forcing" climate change. Gases, such as water vapor, which respond physically or chemically to changes in temperature are seen as ‘feedbacks’” (Global).
Some gases in our atmosphere can trap heat radiating from the earth, like how a greenhouse works by trapping in warmth. The gases that are responsible for this greenhouse effect is water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and chlorofluorocarbon or CFOs. Water vapor is the most abundant of the greenhouse gases, but give feedback to the
These gases are a big part of global warming. These gases are produced from transportation, industry, and electricity production. Electricity production is the biggest part of it 33% of the green house emition is from this. The next biggest part is transportation. Which is 28% of green house gases. The 28% cover cars, trucks, planes, and ships. All these things burn gasoline or some source of oil. Which creates fossil fuel. Industry covers 20%, which is also burning fossil fuel, which isn’t good for the planets atmosphere.
When was Neptune discovered?“Neptune was the very first planet to be discovered by using math! (mathematics). After the discovery of Uranus in 1781, astronomers noticed that the planet was being pulled a little bit out of its normal orbit. John Couch Adams of Britain and Urbain Jean Joseph Leverrier of France, used math to figure out that the gravity from another planet beyond Uranus was affecting the orbit of Uranus. They figured out not only where the planet was, but also how much mass it had. A young astronomer, Johann Gottfried Galle, decided to search for the predicted planet and observed Neptune for the first time in 1846.” -http://coolcosmos.ipac.caltech.edu/ask/146--When-was-Neptune-discovered-
Climate change is influenced by the greenhouse effect which is the increase of Carbon dioxide, Methane, Ozone and Nitrogen Oxide. On one hand, the presence of these gases in the atmosphere make the earth habitable with respect to regulating the earth’s temperature. However, an increase in the concentration of these gases results in trapping energy in the atmosphere and this in turn increases earth’s temperature. “Global greenhouse gas emissions have grown since pre-industrial times, with an increase of 70% between
Greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide and methane, absorb energy radiated by the Earth and then send it back into our atmosphere as heat. This is called the greenhouse effect. During the last
Alteration of this natural barrier of atmospheric gases can raise or lower the mean global temperature of the Earth”(Greenhouse Gas).
One of the main reasons that earth’s temperatures are rising are due to greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases are created when humans burn fossil fuels such as coals, natural gases, and oils to produce heat or electricity. These gases are then capable of trapping infrared radiation sent by the sun. Once these
The primary cause of climate change is the human expansion of the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is a natural occurrence, which NASA defines as “the warming that results when the atmosphere traps heat radiating from space” (NASA). During the greenhouse effect, heat from the sun passes through the atmosphere, which is made up of various gases. When the heat from the sun reaches the surface, some of it radiates away from Earth, back into space. However, some of the gases in the atmosphere, known as greenhouse gases, absorb this heat, preventing it from escaping (World Meteorological Organization). The greenhouse effect keeps the Earth at a habitable temperature. The World Meteorological Organization, or WMO, states that the greenhouse effect and
greenhouse gas is carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is very well known and is released while doing everyday things like driving a car. Carbon dioxide also is the main impacting greenhouse gas along with methane and nitrous oxide. After burning fossil fuels the greenhouse gasses trap heat in
Greenhouse gases ,such as carbon dioxide, is absorb and emits heat into the earths atmosphere, keeping the Earth warm enough to support life. However, human activities, such as burning fossil fuels, are adding large amounts of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. Earth must get rid of energy at the same rate it receives energy. More greenhouse gases means that more heat is being held in the atmosphere, which makes the temperatures higher. All the greenhouse gases people have added to the
Energy from the sun drives the earth’’s weather and climate, and heats the earth’’s surface; in turn, the earth radiates energy back into space. Atmospheric greenhouse gases (water vapor, carbon dioxide, and other gases) trap some of the
The greenhouse effect is what allows life on Earth and the atmosphere contains trace gases which are designed to retain heat. The gases that are present in the atmosphere are water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, ozone, and nitrous oxide. These gases act as a global insulator and help control the Earth’s atmosphere. It all begins with sunlight which is a form of energy that is mostly absorbed by land, oceans, and a portion of the sunlight is reflected back to the atmosphere. Once the earth warms up, it then gives off energy in a different form which is called infrared radiation or electromagnetic radiation. The planet need some of the greenhouse gases because without them the
This doesn't necessarily mean that every scientist sees eye to eye on each component of the climate change problem, but broad agreement exists that climate change is happening and is primarily caused by excess greenhouse gases from human activities.” (EPA)
As far back as Jean can remember she’s always been attracted to Alan. Jean belonged to the poorest family in the clan and her father is the Laird’s farrier. Her mother Brenda, works in the castle’s kitchen preparing food for the royals. Her first glimpse of the castle was when she turned 16 and was employed as an extra hand to do the dishes and clean the kitchen floors. Those were also the few times she’d chance upon Alan who was 22 at that time. He’d come in sometimes dressed in his armor as he practiced jousting with his father’s men. Alan, being the first-born male in the family was the successor to the Lairdship. He was tall with blue eyes, robust physique, and blonde hair. He was always preoccupied with so many things his father would
Greenhouse gases are compounds in the atmosphere that can trap and hold extra heat, which increases the temperature in the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases is the cause of the greenhouse effect that leads up to global warming. The greenhouse effect is the trapping of the sun’s warmth in the lower atmosphere that is due to the visible radiation from the sun. The solar radiation reaches the Earth’s atmosphere, then the rest of the sun's energy is absorbed by the oceans and lands which result in the heating of the Earth. After that the heat from the Earth goes towards space, some of the heat is trapped in the atmosphere by greenhouses gases which make the Earth warm enough to tolerate living life. The burning of fossil fuels and land clearing start to increase the number of greenhouse gases which travels into the atmosphere. The result of trapping extra heat cause the Earth’s temperature to rise. Scientist's has proven that the constant increase of heat in the atmosphere is caused by humans. The reason humans are proven guilty for the increase of global warming is because of the amount of carbon that is put into the atmosphere. Carbon is released from burning coal, oil, and gas or cutting down and burning forests. Carbon (CO2) is known as the main source of heat-trapping gas which is mainly responsible for the increase of warming over the years. The removal of trees is another cause of global
