1.4 Solar Energy
Solar energy is quite simply the energy produced directly by the sun. The sun creates its energy through a thermonuclear process that converts about 650,000,000 tons of hydrogen to helium every second. The process creates heat and electromagnetic radiation. The heat remains in the sun and is instrumental in maintaining the thermonuclear reaction. The electromagnetic radiation (including visible light, infra-red light, and ultra-violet radiation) streams out into space in all directions. It is a clean inexhaustible, abundantly and universally available source of renewable energy. The major drawbacks of solar energy

The characteristic curve of a SPV system varying with solar radiation and temperature does not match the characteristic curve of the load. In those cases, the power conditioning unit regulates the load’s voltage and current in such a way, that the SPV system is operated at its optimum operation voltage (VMPP) and current (IMPP).
Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT): Solar panels have a nonlinear voltage-current (V-I) characteristic with a distinct maximum power point (MPP), which depends on the environmental factors such as solar insolation and the cell temperature. To ensure the continuous harvesting of maximum power from the solar panels, it is necessary to control the operation at optimum impedance of the SPV module, so that the module can be operated at Maximum power point (MPP).
Voc (Open circuit voltage), Is the maximum possible voltage in the solar cell when no current is passing through. Isc (short circuit current), is the current when voltage is zero. This short circuit current is found when the impedance is low, it is the maximum value for current that can be found when the voltage remains zero. Vmp and Imp is the voltage and current that are found at their respected maximum power point. Maximum power is the power value that can be found to be at its maximum, usually found between the values of Vmp and Imp. Power out is the power produced by the solar cell as a result of its voltage and current. The power out is determined by calculation, its value is determined using the of maximum voltage and current (Voc and Isc), this along with the formula P = IV (Power (P) = current (I) x voltage (V).
The PV module has been designed by considering the irradiance, temperature and number of PV cells connected in series and parallel. Figure 5.1 shows the simulink model of solar system. Here only function file used to show the solar system, the program code is given in the appendix. Here we are using a battery. The system is generated 240volt and current is 2.9 A.
The simulation study of the complete system is carried out by using MATLAB/SIMULINK. For this simulation, four PV module in a series connection mode is considered. Each PV module consists of three submodules. A multiwinding flyback converter is connected across each PV module. Fig. 7(a) shows the P-V charactristc cunve of the PV array (with bypass diode) without using the integrated converter. The figure shows multiple power peaks with maximum power nearly 500W. The shading pattern of the PV array is presented in Table-1. Fig. 7(b) shows the characteristic curve by integrating the converter across each PV module. The P-V characteristic curve exhibits a single peak point. The peak power is nearly 670W. As compared to conventional PV system more than 150W power can be extracted from the PV system. Each submodule of the PV module is subjected different solar insolation. Fig. 8(a ) shows the current of submodule of PV module-1. In this figure, submodule-3 generates less power as
Sharon Olds utilizes figurative language throughout the poem, Rite of passage including hyperbole, similes, and alliteration. When olds introduces the characters as “short men, men in first grade” it is to hyperbole which highlights the fact that the young boys consider themselves to be very mature. Olds continues the poem by using alliteration when with the phrase “jostling, jockeying” which sounds nice and helps make the poem flow. In order to enhance the reader’s visualization of the story olds employs a simile. See writes that the son has “freckles like specks of nutmeg on his cheeks”. The freckles simile also allows the reader to see that the mom still views her son as an innocent boy. Sharon Olds puts in another simile about how they
A solar photovoltaic power system is a technology that converts the energy from sunlight into electrical energy. Residential solar photovoltaic systems can offset much of a household's power needs, depending on the size of the system and the household's needs. The output power from is directly proportional to power received from the sun, which varies throughout the day and year. The rated maximum output of the module might be achieved only occasionally, depending on actual site conditions. It is a renewable source of energy that is sustainable and totally inexhaustible. Solar energy is also a non-polluting source of energy that doesn’t emit any greenhouse gases when producing electricity.
Bipolar I disorder, or formally known as manic-depression disorder, is a mental disorder in which a person experiences frequent mood swings that can drastically change the direction of one’s life. Individuals with bipolar disorders experience unusual, dramatic mood swings, and activity levels that go from periods of feeling intensely happy, irritable, and impulsive to periods of intense sadness and feelings of hopelessness, thus affecting behavior in some ways. According to nimh.nih.gov (2012), bipolar I disorder can result in damaged relationships, poor job or school performances, and even suicide. The disorder impacts the mental, physical, emotional, and cognitive aspects of one’s life.
The Big Brother In every part of the city, there are the Big Brother's posters. In these posters, it is written that ‘Big Brother is watching you.' It means that wherever you go, whatever you do is always eavesdropped and watched. Actually, anyone does not know actual existence of Big Brother.
The sun is the source of all life on Earth. In just one hour the sunlight hitting the earth’s surface provides enough energy to power the global economy for a full year (Brown, 2015). The sun will continue to burn for billions of years, making it an unquestionably reliable source for renewable energy. Modern-day photovoltaic (PV) solar cells rely on the photoelectric effect, a phenomenon where light is used to free electrons from a solid surface - usually silicon - to create electricity. PV panels are typically installed on homes and buildings, or in ground arrangements, sometimes called solar farms.
Solar energy may define as the energy received by the earth from the sun. This solar energy is in the form of solar radiation. With the help of solar cells, solar radiation can convert into electricity. Sun is a highly powerful energy source, humans and natures are directly depending on the sun. For example in hydro-electricity the solar energy needed for the evaporation of water after that it returns to earth as rain and provides water in dams. In biomass, the solar energy used that process. Solar cells directly converted solar radiation into electricity, during the process time there is no noise or pollution are there. These cells made with some semiconducting materials. If use solar cells in our home it will help to reduce the greenhouse gas emission, minimise the percentage of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere and mainly reduce the necessity of fossil fuels and natural gas use to produce electricity. According to the Ben Sorensen, solar energy is one of a good source of substitute energy, for the reason that it is renewable, economical and does not pollute our environment. Thus, this essay will be divided into three parts. Firstly, we will talk about fossil fuels and its demerits. Secondly, we will look at the issues and implications of solar energy. Finally, we will focus on the advantageous and disadvantageous of solar energy respectively.
SAM has three different choices for the user to choose from to modeling a photovoltaic system; The PVWatts System model which is an implementation of NREL 's online photovoltaic calculator, the Flat Plate PV model which combines and separates module’s component models that are available for the user to select and; and the High-X Concentrating PV model which is for concentrating PV systems. All three
Solar energy is the energy from the sun. It uses sunlight to produce electricity. These panels are usually installed on the roof and positioned to face the sun. Most countries all around the world use solar energy to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels and making it as a sizable share of their energy supply. Solar panels are used in large numbers by homes and offices to reduce their monthly electricity bills and reduces the need of electricity from utility companies.
In Figure.4, it can be analyzed that the system with MPPT control using GA brings the load power to the desired value of 480 W in 152 ms, whereas the system without MPPT reaches the desired output power of 310 W at 120 ms. Without any MPPT algorithm, the PV array will provide a power of about 310 W, which is an inefficient output under such a climatic condition.

This method has three major 47 disadvantages: Firstly tracking local peaks of the solar array voltage-power curve, secondly 48 oscillations around the MPP and thirdly low speed[1,6,11,13-14]. The DC-DC converter deliver the 49 maximum power from PV module to load by adjusting the duty cycle and able to distribute a maximum 50 power when load is changes [1,6,11,13-15]. The proposed method is a maximum power coefficient 51 UNDER PEER REVIEW
Solar energy is an eco-friendly alternative to fossil fuels. Our planet has been experiencing an average increase in global temperatures. Slowly but surely our planet is deteriorating, unless we change our form of energy into a greener alternative. Deterioration of our planet may occur at a faster rate. The depletion of fossil fuels is detrimental to our environment. By substituting fossil fuels with the solar energy, our planet will benefit. These benefits include: reduced climate change, beneficial economic opportunities on both a large scale benefitting our government and on a smaller scale helping individuals decrease their energy bills, and solar energy is renewable and sustainable.
