The Detrimental Effects of Global Warming
The morning sun begins to shed its light on the city below. Turning off the alarm, James removes his Dexcron SleepInhaler 4000 to breathe in what little oxygen he can. Feeling light-headed, he quickly dresses into the day’s apparel consisting of a climate controlled, blue bio-suit and an oxygen tank. Today marks the first day of the month so he turns his calendar as he walks towards the door. He closes the door wondering what caused the world to be this way. All he can remember is that the temperature has been rising since he was born and the hottest day on record, 122 degrees in Cleveland, was recorded last week. Exposing himself to the outdoor elements, he waits for the public shuttle

Others worry about the consequences of continued use of fossil fuels since humans are the cause of this phenomena. Finally, a majority of people are very worried about global warming becoming a reality since “most mainstream scientists and scientific bodies agree that heat-trapping gases like carbon dioxide (CO2) . . . have caused temperatures to rise around the globe” (“New Science. . .”).
The concern listed last is a perfect example of the power of hype. While many different sectors of the media and even world governments proclaim that all scientists agree global warming is occurring, a quiet majority is beginning to speak up. In 1992, a Gallup survey asked many climatologists. The survey found that “81 percent respondents believed that the global temperature had not risen over the past 100 years” (“Global Warming ‘Consensus’. . .”). A survey conducted by American Viewpoint found that “climatologists believe that global warming is largely a natural phenomenon by a margin of 44% to 17%” (“Global Warming ‘Consensus’. . .”). Along with this survey, other untruths are appearing about claims that scientists who believe in global have signed thousands of letters warming. According to the National Center for Public Policy Research, a letter used in a report by Ozone Action was actually signed by “landscape architects, a gynecologist, and a practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine” (“Global Warming ‘Consensus’. . .”).

Go Ask Alice is a famous frequently challenged journal by ”Anonymous”, an impressionable teenage journalist that details her fall into the depths of drug culture within the late 1960s and early 1970s. This novel was published in 1971 by Prentice Hall and although, it has been claimed to be taken from a real diary, there’s significant evidence that proves that the journal was fabricated and a work of fiction. Beatrice Sparks, one of the editors of the book is most likely the true author of Go Ask Alice and wrote it as a way to persuade teens to not pursue reckless decisions. The book is highly suspicious and does not portray youth accurately or keep the story authentic. The most prominent example being when Alice goes on a rant about adolescent risk-taking statistics that her drug counselor told her in the class.
Global warming has been a major concern and has greatly affected the environment around the world for years. Andrew Revkin stated in a New York Times article entitled “A Closer Look at Climate Panel’s Findings on Global Warming Impacts” that climate change throughout the 21st century will lead to increases in ill-health in many regions, as compared to a baseline without climate change. There have been a number of debates regarding this controversial topic, though most of the scientific community can recognize the existence of global warming. Many often question if this effect on the environment is caused by human activity or natural cycles. About 95 percent of scientific studies prove that global warming is essentially caused by man.
Imagine loud cheering, deafening screams, and all of the excitement being about you. Imagine being so popular that colleges are fighting over having you play for them. Imagine being paid to play in college. Wait, that doesn’t make sense. Pro athletes get paid, not college athletes. College athletes get scholarships, not a check for their bank account. College athletes should not be paid for willingly performing their sport of choice.
The world has many years existing in this galaxy and every day we see that is changing more and more but not in a very good way that it can end in the extinction of the planet earth. “Earth Hasn’t Heated Up This Fast Since the Dinosaurs’ End” (Lavelle). Carbon is growing so fast in the atmosphere faster than in the past 66 million years since the dinosaurs went extinct (Lavelle). All the presidents hold a position of power that could change this big problem that the planet is having, behind this problem there is other problems that are causing a much bigger problem in all the country. “By year 2100, the average temperature will rise by 5.8 degrees as a result of global warming. The Arctic ice is melting rapidly. By 2040 the region is expected to have a completely ice-free summer, or even earlier. Since 1880, the average temperature has risen by 1.4-Fahrenheit degrees” (Rinkesh). Humans are the one in power of this planet, they are often making some decisions, but they do not know if that is going to hurt the planet. Also, is because humans are selfish. These decisions often include manipulating the system of other country, how they work, what products they can make, how to get benefit from that country, and etc. Also, taking control and/ or credit over other countries work. Some countries are taking very serious the Global Warming problem, so the other countries want a prove of how are they helping to fix this problem. Many countries have agreements with other countries that
In modern America few problems prove to be as fundamentally problematic as the theory of human induced global warming. Its repeated coverage from within the media and political arena are influencing people worldwide, putting those who think differently in an outcast shadow. The truth of the matter is, to not believe in human induced global warming has become politically incorrect and unacceptable in the public eye. The theory of human induced global warming can be defined as the rise in temperature through human pollution of greenhouse gases resulting in catastrophic alterations in the earth 's environment. However, human pollution of greenhouse gases is so minor that it is not a contribution to the
This section of the essay focuses on the relation between Macbeth and King James' actual life, analyzing the characteristics of playwriting during the 17th century. The section begins with a heavy focus on King James and how he was “nervous, deeply nervous” due to the murder of both his parents and failed assassination attempt that almost killed him. Greenblatt explains that this information is important as he highlights how Shakespeare uses this fear to his advantage, by creating scenes that reassure the King and gain his favor. Macbeth indirectly reinforces the King through the depiction of his strong lineage instead of direct flattery or directly telling the story of how the King foiled his own assassination attempt, because the representation
A study shows that there was a 97% consensus among scientists who were interviewed said that global warming is caused by humans in 2015. The number is always changing considering the fact that there was a 100 percent consensus by 2004, with a percentage of 91 scientists in agreement in the beginning of 2014 with a 93 percent consensus by the end of 2014. (Friends) All of these scientists believe that global warming is being caused by and can be prevented by humans. They see that sea levels are rising because of melting ice caps, the number of immense wildfires is increasing along with the length of the wildfire season, droughts are becoming more severe, storms are becoming more extreme and common, and dangerous heat waves are becoming an issue. Sea levels rising dramatically increases the risk of flooding, especially in the Gulf of Mexico and U.S. East Coast. Similarly, more rain falls during the heaviest downpours, increasing the risk of flooding events even more with the temperature increase caused by climate change. Scientists see that climate change has significant implications for our health, including increased air pollution and a longer and more intense allergy
Global warming is no theory or hoax, extensive scientific research by researchers across the globe can assure us of that. Although a large amount of information on the issue is readily available to the public, many Americans including our President-elect don’t believe in global warming. In an effort to inform the public of this very real occurrence, I will provide examples of climate change, its effects pertaining to the United States, and provide counter arguments against global warming’s opposition. Americans and other global citizens are making uninformed decisions, that is unacceptable and can only be resolved by providing evidence of climate change and explaining the significance of the global events. In this paper I will use the vast cache of information on climate change to not only argue the existence of global warming but also the threat it poses to the American people.
Global warming is a controversial topic, widely discussed among today’s society. It is significant because it deals with the opinions and beliefs of many individuals. It also creates controversy and provides society with the opportunity to express itself and its beliefs. Many people believe that the conditions of the climate have no correlation to human behavior and that nowadays, people exaggerate the impacts of climate change. However, these individuals fail to recognize the truth behind the topic. Global warming is both a real and serious threat to our existence that humans must address by altering their actions and behaviors.
Global warming is a highly debated topic that causes a lot of controversy. There are those in politics that do not believe that global warming is a serious threat, and there are those in the scientific community that have researched global warming and say that it will be a while before anything drastic occurs. Others, such as scientist James Hansen argue that global warming is a serious threat in relation to his research. Also due to the fact that the general public does not get the full story due to censorship global warming is looked upon as a second-rate problem. The entire facts are not fully disclosed and that affects how global warming is looked upon. Global warming is happening now and it is being underestimated greatly as the scientific
Global warming is an increase in the temperature of the earth's weather. Global warming is also known as the green house effect. Global warming is a very serious world issue. Most humans are trying to do as much as they can to help stop global warming. Global warming has caused many problems to the earth in addition to the humans that live here on the earth. A problem caused by global warming is very hot summers. Some summers have had days that the temperature had reached 30*C. Another Problem that global warming has caused is the melting of polar ice caps. Global warming caused the polar ice caps to melt which will cause the ice to break free as well as melt in the sea, sea levels all over the world will rise. Lastly,
Imagine you are placed into the future. The year is 2100. You begin to live in this
The Earth is a dynamic, constantly changing environment in which the hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere all interact. When one changes slightly the change is then felt through out the spheres. Humans need to understand that the change they cause can have a potential for a disastrous affect on the environment. From injecting the atmosphere with greenhouse gas, or deforestation, all the unnatural things done to the environment will have an unnatural affect that will have to be dealt with. We as humans have a moral responsibility to reduce global warming gasses by changing our modes of transportation, to stop deforestation, and increase government funding into research to inhibit global warming for
U.S. Conditions like Florida and other states with a high range of hot spells are perfect
Considering that politicizing global warming has become a national distraction, much of the discussion has become vague as to what is even at the core of the debate. To comprehend the debate about global warming, one needs to understand the definition of global warming. Global warming is the average temperature increase of the Earth’s oceans and atmosphere over the last century. The U.S. National Academy of Sciences says the Earth’s temperature has gone up one degree Fahrenheit over the last one hundred years (Miller 56). Much of the deliberation about global
