This beautiful manuscript was written in 1776, by 5 of our country's’ greatest leaders. Those leaders are Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Robert R. Livingston, and Roger Sherman. This quintet fought and fought- not physically or course- until they got what they wanted. All the United States wanted was to resolve their bonds with Great Britain and be independant. The Declaration of Independence was formed resulting from the treatment of 13 colonies from the British government without representation after subsequent denials to be represented and treated equal. This historic document was revolutionary because it’s what began the transition of our government into a democracy unlike that of parliament in the 1700’s. The British government and their ruling made decisions that didn’t involve what was right for the people; only what was in the best economic interest of parliament. This caused significant hardships on the American colonies which eventually led to them coming together as a people and forming this declaration.

Americans that don’t know The Declaration of Independence think that it has to do with people’s responsibilities and think they need to obey them. It made way for the thirteen original colonies and it showed Great Britain they did not want to be part of them anymore.

Once the declaration of independence was written on, July 4, 1776, in the Preamble section, it lists all of the actions that king George III toke, and how they were unfair. As a matter of fact, there is a part in the list of grievances, in which the colonist says, “for imposing taxes on us without our consent”; this signifies one of the biggest causes that led the American Revolution. The list of grievances also states how the colonist were all angered, at King George III, for quartering large bodies of armed troops in the colonies, basically they felt like they were being controlled and watched at all times. Overall, the list of grievances states the urgent need that colonist had to get their unalienable rights, that correspond to them back, and since British government wouldn’t give it to them. For all of these reasons, it’s what led to the American Revolution, and eventually make America its own nation. Colonist had all the right to overthrow and unfair government, and since British government wasn’t giving them their rights, they fought to earn it
