When I was very young I remember the day that the 9/11 attacks happened. I was in my 5th grade math class when my principle made an announcement over the PA stating what took place. He requested that there be an immediate assembly in the gym. When we got to the gym he began to talk about how America was attacked and that two airplanes hit the Twin Towers in New York City. When I was hearing all this I was very confused only being a young boy. Many people came to pick their children up from school in fear that something could happen to us. I also remember how the news portrayed the attacks. They constantly replayed the footage of the planes hitting the towers over and over again. This was a form of social control, in the form of an agent of socialization where “mass media gives information and images that are consumed by the general public (Chriss, 2010). They wanted to strike fear into the people of America and wanted a sense of patriotic emotion running through their veins. President Bush came onto TV and told everyone that they have weapons of mass destruction and didn’t really explain who they are. The only motive was to hurt the American people and this was an action of war. He mentioned that this was the doing of Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden. It wasn’t until I just read this article that I really understood why Al Qaeda does these things or what their motives are. Al Qaeda lives and operates by the theory of focoism. This focoist theory is explained in Che’s article as
The September 11th terrorist hijackings and attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon caught the United States largely by surprise. Once the dust had settled, and the shock and horror of such an unprecedented event had waned, the American public began to ask questions. Names such as Osama bin Laden, countries such as Afghanistan, and organizations such as Al-Qaeda were brought into the public's consciousness for the first time. Through newspapers, talkback radio and television programs the nation asked why do they hate us so much?' Others, such as those in the government and public service, asked what could we have done to have prevented this?' It is
An important event that is known to be so far the most tragic attack in American history, it left Americans with a constant fear of another terrorist attack, this tragic event is known as 9/11. This tragedy occurred when an Islamic group known as al-Qaeda attacked the World Trade Center in New York City. Al-Qaeda’s leader was Osama bin Laden, a Saudi fugitive seeking retaliation for America’s involvement in the Persian Gulf War, its support of Israel, and the military’s constant presence in the Middle East. Their plan to invade America began on the morning of September 11, 2001 when 19 militants hijacked 4 American Airline planes and were targeting attacks in the United States.
The September 11 assaults known as 9/11 were a progression of four composed psychological oppressor assaults by the Islamic fear based oppressor bunch Al-Qaeda on the United States on the morning of Tuesday September 11, 2001. The assaults murdered 2,996 individuals and harmed more than 6,000 others and brought about at any rate $10 billion in property and foundation harm and $3 trillion in absolute
On September 11, 2001 Terrorist assaulted America. Four planes were high-jacked and two of them were flown into the World Trade Center towers in NYC and another into the Pentagon in Washington. The fourth plane smashed in Pennsylvania before it achieved its objective in Washington DC. Inside two hours, both of the twin towers had fell. A segment of the Pentagon was extremely harmed. More than 3,000 individuals passed on in the assaults. Days after the fact the offenders of this annihilation were recognized as individuals from Al Qaeda, an Islamic fear monger amass situated in Afghanistan yet with cells all through the world. The high-jackers had worked out of Al Qaeda cells working in the US. Nobody knew whether more fear monger assaults were
George W. Bush once said that “Our enemies have made the mistake that America’s enemies always make. They see liberty and think they saw weakness.” 9/11 was a devastating day in American history. Men, from the terrorist group Al Quada, attacked America on their own soil for the first time since Japan attack us at Pearl Harbor. But there are some things we can isolate from it. The basic overview of it. What were the terrorists doing to get ready for the day, and what was their major purpose and intention.
Have you ever been to New York city? New York City is a big place. There is five boroughs and many people. Also, there is many things to learn and see. 911 attacks, transportation, and tourist attractions are the three most interesting and important things about New York City.
The events of 9/11 shocked the nation. One of the most highly acclaimed countries in the world was now lost and extremely vulnerable. The last terrorist attack on American soil had been ages ago dating back to Pearl Harbour in 1945, so far back that most Americans were not even alive to remember the incident. Now our nation was in a state of mourning, a feeling that does not come often. Everyone wondered if this was just the beginning or if it would lead to something more drastic. What was the motive or cause of this event? The answer lies in the past of their leader, Osama Bin Laden. Many critics have claimed that the terrorists in the Middle East just wanted to see us suffer and show that they are superior. Thus, they targeted the most symbolic places in our nation:the World Trade Center, the White House, and the Pentagon. The Terrorist attacks on 9/11, resulting in great devastation, can be traced back to Osama Bin Laden’s home environment, and these circumstances explain Osama Bin Laden and his
September 11th, 2001 is a day that left deep scars on Americans and America’s history. Extremists from a terrorist group, called al-Qaeda, whose main goal is to make countries that are predominantly Islamic get rid of all non-Islamic influences, hijacked four commercial airplanes, full of innocent passengers, and then smashed one into each of the Twin Towers or the World Trade Center in New York. Shortly after, there was another attack on the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Back in New york, both of the twin towers collapsed. The fourth hijacked airplane did not do much damage. It landed on an open field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. All together 2,996 innocent individuals died. An emotional impact was left because many people lost their family
On the morning of September 11, 2001, an Islamic terrorist group known as al-Qaeda carried out a series of four attacks on the United States. The most well-known attack is when two commercial airline planes crashed into the Twin Towers in New York City. Many innocent lives were lost and families were torn apart. While many Americans were determined to show their resilience towards the attacks, this is a day many Americans will never forget. Although the attacks happened sixteen years ago, Americans are still dealing with the impacts these attacks have had on life in America. The 9/11 attacks have had several long-lasting effects on everyday life in America, some of which include an increase in airport security, a change in national security, and an increase the fear of terrorism.
The dreadful occurrence of 9/11 is in and of itself a horrible reality that is a fact of American history. However, the Bush administration attempted to alter that reality by turning that event into something else. According to Nuzzo, the only way the Bush administration could have made it seem as if America as an “absolute victim,” free of any fault, was to mark the event as the beginning of conflict between the two sides (338). To say that 9/11 was the effect of unprecedented evil was the only way that Bush could use 9/11 as a cause for invading Iraq and hunting down Hussein and bin Laden (Nuzzo 338). The messages and propaganda put forth by the media and government following 9/11 and leading up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq persuaded
On the aftermath of the 9/11 Terror attacks by Al-Qaeda, The US declares "total war on the evil forces" and invades Afghanistan, but Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda remain elusive and undefeated. In this course of action, public pressure is mounting and there is a need for a concrete enemy that can be Militarily defeated. Within this pretext the Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein enters into the equation as the "Axis of Evil" instead of the real enemy - Al Qaeda, and is announced as the main Military target by the US government.
The events of September 11th did not arise out of thin air, but rather came from decades of terrorism and the creation of the terrorist group: Al Qaeda. According to Karl DeRouen, terrorism is “the use of violence as a means of instilling terror or fear for political or ideological gains” (DeRouen 2016). This terrorist group was doing just that: using violence to implant fear in
The glum outcome ensues even in the case of welfare states where the newcomers are showered with handouts worth many billions of dollars a year on an ongoing basis. The goodies dished out include direct benefits to refugees in the form of cash stipends and free housing as well as indirect boons as in brand-new libraries and landscaped parks. The failures of public policy show up clearly in the depressed districts populated by vast enclaves of immigrants all across Europe. The countries beset by the blight run the gamut from Germany and Sweden to France and
In the United States, driving under the influence of alcohol is a major problem as it accounts for a high number of road fatalities. It is a criminal offense for a person to drive under the influence of alcohol in almost all countries in the world. Nations impose penalties for drunk driving; however, they vary widely from states to states. Nevertheless, many countries seem to come to an agreement that drunk driving claims many lives in a year, which is intolerable. For instance, in 2008 alone, in the US, more than 11000 lives perished in the road carnage due to drivers driving under the influence of alcohol (Grant 16). Therefore, the government should employ or enforce stricter laws towards driving under the influence, to reduce road fatalities.
September 11th changed the lives of many Americans, irrevocably. The horrendous attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon altered the way American’s viewed their positions within the world, not to mention their lives and their safety. The attacks brought terrorism to the forefront of national attention, in every aspect. The government became immediately immersed in an effort to understand and defeat terrorism, and simultaneously, the media, with its perverse fascination with violence and profit-driven espousal to round-the-clock, up-to-the-minute coverage, demonstrated an obsession with the attacks, by broadcasting almost nothing but the latest developments in the search and rescue efforts and investigations
