The Controversial Issue Of Abortion

The issue of Abortions has been a controversy for years now. There are two main groups for this problem, Pro-Life, and Pro-Choice. Pro-Life supports the human rights of life should be embraced, by religion and ethics. Pro-choice is when someone wants to make this choice without no remorse of human life, but because someone wants no part of it raising one.

There are about 31 abortions per 100 live births in Canada: 330,000 live births and 100,000 abortions each year. Top reasons for getting an abortion are: relationship issues, financial issues, ‘not being ready’, emotional issues, birth control failure, and genetic reasons. The abortion rate has increased each year.

One of the most controversy issues that have had many Americans debating over the years is abortion. But why so much controversy? Well to start with we have to understand what abortion is. According to the Oxford dictionary, abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. There are also 2 types of abortions. The first one is Therapeutic abortion, which the baby is aborted for the safety of the mother, and elective abortion, in which the abortion is performed due to a choice that the mother has made for an unborn child. In other words, abortion is the end or the expulsion of a fetus from the uterus by natural causes or by clinical methods before it is able to survive independently.

The topic of abortion is one of the most controversial and sensitive for the society and myself. The debates and confrontations between two opposite groups of opinion are long and sometimes even brutal. Both sides have strong supporting arguments: pro-lifers base on moral principals, which is life before birth, while pro-choicers defend political and social rights, such as right to privacy and right of choice. Neither side can be absolutely right or wrong; basically it is a matter of personal opinion. Mine is that although the abortion is originally wrong, in many cases it must be a legal option.

Every culture and society does not allow or consider abortion as a rightful act, and abortion is a name of destroying human life. Now a days our society faces several types of issues Abortion is one of the complicated issue for both ways health and society that’s why abortion become a very controversial issue that’s become debatable in politics. In addition, these researches will describe the different issues of abortion, such as, legal laws on abortion, restriction of abortions, rate of abortion and consequences of the abortion.

Many outsiders see the United States as a place of peace and harmony. But for those who live within it, know that it is the complete opposite. The United States has numerous amounts of worldwide problems from the economy to obesity to even pollution. Although some are more important than others doesn’t mean the small issues should go unnoticed. Abortion, the termination of pregnancy is considered a problem by many but also reflected as nonfactor to others opinion. In my opinion, I believe abortion is a growing problem and the people of the United States fail to apprehend it. The actual termination of the pregnancy could leave the mother suffering from a serious illness or even be fatal.

Abortion is the most controversial issue that gives human beings the right by the constitution the privilege to pursue happiness. whereas, an abortion can be seen has putting the fetus out of misery because the fetus cannot feel pain. The debate of whether or not abortion should be legal or illegal continues to divide the nation, whereas, in the United State pro-choice contented that abortion is a woman’s right and should not be limited to laws and religious factors. They also claim that the fetus is a woman’s right legally or illegally and therefore, a fetus is not considered alive or counted in a census.

Some people believe that life begins at conception, while some people believe that life begins at birth. There are now a third type of people who are now coming out to say that even at birth, a baby’s life is not really his/her own. What do you believe? While it is not universally agreed upon, abortion is legal within the United States and many other countries world-wide. Although after birth abortion does not seem very humane, Giubilini and Minerva make a point that ethically speaking, infants are not true people and unfortunately they make the point very well.

If pregnancy was not in your plans, would abortion be an option? Although there are many debates surrounding abortion, the argument about the rights people feel that both the mother and the unborn child have, who has rights and why do they have them. One side of the debate goes that a woman owns her own body and has the right to do whatever she pleases to it.

Abortion is an important yet controversial topic of discussion in the US today. In Oklahoma, 8% of all pregnancies were aborted, and 76% were live births. Nationally, 18% of 6 million pregnant women chose to get abortions in 2011. Oklahoma accounts for 0.6% of abortions in the United States (“State Facts”). While there are many different thoughts on this issue, most people's opinions fall into two categories, pro-life and pro-choice.

The word abortion means to interrupt a pregnancy taking away the fetus from a woman’s womb. Abortion is such a controversial issue that causes both positive and negative opinions: proponents are those who identify themselves as pro-choice; in contrast, opponents identify themselves as pro-life.

Abortion is an issue that can lead to an understanding of how communities and individuals through history were able to address the question of when human life begins. Which i believe that a life begins when the sperm is inside of the mother's egg. Stating that, that’s when life begins.

The debate over abortion has divided Americans into polarized sides since the Supreme Court’s 7-2 decision in Roe v. Wade on January 22, 1973, where the Court deemed abortion a fundamental right under the United States Constitution. The lawsuit began when Norma McCorvey became pregnant with her third child in 1969 and could not get a legal abortion in Texas. With her attorneys, they filed a lawsuit. Roe v. Wade reached Supreme Court appeal in 1970 (Rovner). At this time, there were a few related court cases whose decisions directly affected McCorvey’s case. Griswold v. Connecticut decided that there is a right to privacy in the Constitution. Younger v. Harris decided that federal courts could not hear civil right cases by a person currently being prosecuted for a matter arising from that claim. In U.S. v. Vuitch, the court ruled to criminalize abortion with the exception if the mother’s life was endangered and it also labeled abortion as an emergency medical procedure (Masci). These cases laid out a foundation for McCorvey’s attorneys as the rulings were then applied to her case, benefitting their arguments tremendously.

There is a never ending debate on whether a fetus's personhood begins at conception or at the moment they are born. Depending on religion or specific beliefs the answer is always different. The argument on personhood may be infinite but the moment that life begins is not a question. Life is evident through the swift development of a fetus. During the first three weeks the baby's brain, spinal cord, and most important, the heart form. After four weeks facial features form and the heart begins to pump blood. These features are seen in humans, therefore how can one argue that the growing baby is not a person but merely a fetus or group of cells. Abortion on demand makes abortion available not just in the early stages of pregnancy but all throughout the pregnancy. If an abortion is carried out during the first one to twelve

Abortion is a controversial issue in many countries all the time and there are always two sides of abortion. Pro-life supporters believe that abortion is immoral, so they argue that it should be illegal because an unborn baby is life. However, they do not figure out that woman who is on the inevitable situation such as infection, rape, or extreme poverty would still have the abortion even though the abortion is illegal. Many women die due to unsafe abortion, which is illegal and performed by uneducated people. Therefore, the abortion should be legal to protect the life of ‘alive women’ because women’s life is equal to human’s right. I would like to provide more affirmative bases to support abortion in this paper.
