The Constitution Outdated

This paper goes over why The Constitution of 1876 needs to be re-written. It is based on past events and times have changed. There are amendments that are still used to this day and those are no problem. It is the ones that Texas has no use for that need to be removed. It has many unnecessary laws making the constitution look disorganized and messy. Having laws that are not being enforced is not very professional. The Texas Constitution also limits the power of the governor. The Democratic party decided to limit the power to avoid what happened in the Constitution of 1869. Texas was governed by the Republicans until 1873. The Democrats regained power and undid the Constitution of 1869.

The Constitution addresses our basic civil, individual, God-given rights and liberties and our government both local and central, should and must protect those rights. However, our brilliant Founding Fathers created these laws in the early development of our Country realizing our laws needed to evolve as our Country evolved. They went as far as calling our Constitution a “living and breathing document” meaning the laws must change with the current times and state of our nation. A document such as the Constitution should be updated every ten to twenty years. Starting off with congress, the diverse people in the world should be introduced in congress, like more African Americans, Asians, women, and people who are in the LGBTQ community and more because different views of what’s going on in the world can impact other people and they may change their opinion on things instead of having a typical strict Caucasian decide what’s right and wrong.

When the founding fathers crafted the Constitution I believe they intended it to be a starting point by which we would build a successful and sustaining society. The core values that were and are enshrined within the Constitution still exist. What has changed since its inception however, are the types of issues and challenges the nation has faced, both then and now. In my own opinion, and I believe many will agree the 2nd Amendment is definitely not outdated. If anything it is very in date, because that is a right everyone have the opportunity to do. I believe we do need the freedom to own firearms in this country, because so much is going on. You never know when you may have to protect yourself. The Constitution is the cornerstone of America. It has lasted longer than any republican government on Earth. The constitution has lasted far longer than the framers of the constitution had expected.
