From the moment you stepped into the theatre, the mood was very apparent. The lighting was dark, a single purple spotlight setting a glow on the simple, yet practical set. The music was some type of stringed instrument, playing softly in the background. When the play is set in motion, a dark and dreary tone is set by the music and lighting as well as the actor’s portrayals of the characters.
At first, the way the lighting changed confused me as an audience member. It would change from purple to green and vice versa. I didn’t really understand the directors purpose for this. But, as the play went on, I soon figured out that the purple light indicated the indoor setting and the green light indicated the outdoor, garden setting. I also noticed that the purple light would come on during the more dramatic parts of the play.
Since the set is the same throughout the whole duration of the play, the changing in lighting is essential. It gives you clues as to where the characters are, how they are feeling, and what the mood is. Purple is a dramatic color so it is obvious that it would be used during the more serious parts of the play like when Miles is dying or the governess sees the ghosts. It is also used to cast an eerie glow upon

It is a deep topic and the music accented the mood very well. It was almost as if you were so into the play and the music helped create the scene so much that you almost didn’t notice the music in the background. It is also used to properly convey when something important or intense is happening. Also, it was a good choice by the director to not have the actor portraying Miles fake play the piano. It would have been too much of a touch and too obvious. It was a better decision to have him sit still and “play” the music. It also was good to have the piano music playing in the background even when Miles wasn’t at the piano. It helped the audience keep the mood and tone the
Differences in the setting of this particular performance are usually due to what the camera could and could not film. Lighting is very important in the effectiveness of the setting, and the play book often makes use of this. In the film, however, the lights are seldom dimmed if ever. This is because the camera used is not built for low light situations and would most likely not have been able to capture the scenes if they were darker. This camera saving practice is usually employed during the beginning of each respected act in the 1989 version of “Our Town.” The quality of the camera is used to the advantage of the film a few times though. After quire practice, a white light is cast on the characters and only the characters causing a moon like lighting. Everything else turns out completely black on camera, creating an effective night setting. Apart from lighting, the differences in the setting are few if they exist at
During the first half of the play, I did not really notice the lights except during the scene transitions. The main reason I did not notice them is because their job during the early parts of the play were to establish the location. We were in a standard basement that had one window above the stairs, so most of the light in the room had to be coming from an artificial source, most likely a lightbulb.
For example, in the main part of the clip (where all the murders arrive), each murder stands in a different lighting. The room is not just dark to create suspense and a horrific scene or not just light to show innocence. All different lightings are displayed throughout this scene because there is minimal importance. Many other elements rise over the element of lighting during this
In creating the world of the play, the collaborates did justice in bringing out the scenery that the piece is set in. However, the collaborators used the stage design, lighting and costumes also to reveal the internal thoughts of the performers. The use of light was huge, it seemed to rely much on templates that created scenes of rain, green pastures and night sky. Though attributing to the play scenery, the use of lighting also brought out the differing emotions Rosemary and Anthony felt. The presence of death and grief were also addressed properly through the use of light, such as when Anthony father went into a bright light, a symbol of the afterlife. It allowed the audience to focus on each performer pivotal lines, which created for further understanding of the
When the play started with the scene of Ruth cooking, there were a lot of realism techniques in the play. The stove used to cook was on, she had real ingredients, real drinks and refreshments, telephone, real sounds, real furniture’s. Lighting determined the time of day it was. Warm colors to represent the day and cool colors that represented night time. Non realism lighting were used also. A great example was when Lena Younger was sad and she sat on the chair by the table where the phone and a picture of her husband was set; a blue and white lighting was set on her, showing and representing the mood of gloomy, unhappy and sadness.
As the film was already bright throughout the play there would be certain scenes where the lighting would just get brighter during imaginations or dreams making us believe that the dreams were delightful. Towards the end of the film we saw glitter and a bright setting which was meant to make us feel cheerful and that peace is restored by the Fairies. In (Act 5 scene 1) the story will be happy towards the end and as the fairies bless the house, peace is restored, “ By us shall blessed be; So shall all couples three, Ever true in loving be”. Ending the scene with glitter and bright light makes for a happy
Hawthorne supports his suggestion by illustrating physician Roger Chillingworth’s arrival in the Puritan colony of Massachusetts Bay through the gullible and enthusiastic perspective of the locals; claiming that Chillingworth’s skilled appearance was “an aspect of mystery, which was easily heightened to the miraculous,” and providence in action. The author’s purpose is to foreshadow how thankful the locals are in their reasoning of Chillingworth’s advent, that they are ,even oblivious to the too perfect timing of Chillingworth’s arrival. The author writes in a serious tone for the upcoming generations to comprehend the historical behavior in Puritan society.
State Farm is trying to create a study in order to prevent as many recurring accidents while making areas safer. The new data will be used to identify patterns of problems.
This play started off with dark room with the gun sounds, which set a mood of fear. Most of the time the lights were dimmed. Sounds were often used to make the scene more realistic and add tension. While I was watching this play, I had a feeling of fear and sadness because this was based on a true story, and lately I hear a lot about terrorist attacks targeting innocent
Throughout the play, Misto uses the lighting in diverse ways. For example, in the TV studio setting, the lighting is used to generate an environment in which an interview would take place; a sterile environment, but in the hotel room setting, the lighting is clear and expresses an optimistic and welcoming atmosphere. Misto’s use of lighting enables the viewer to sense different things depending on the brightness and direction of the light.
The lighting in the Royal Court Theatre was used to depict suspense. At the beginning when Hero was deciding to go to war or stay home, the lights became brighter and brighter. This resembled the time leading up to the decision he had to make in
Throughout the play, it was amazing how they used the lights to transition when tragic events occurred in play like a cliffhanger. In part three, when Shane confesses about the wrong deeds Kippy did, the light shines only at Darren and Kippy to make the event look serious; which made event suspenseful for the audience to capture their attention.
The lighting of any production is the most important part in my thought. the lighting puts you in the mood that you have to be in, in order to fully understand that part of the show and to actually live it like they do. For example, when they were in the park and it was raining, they had their umbrellas, and the background effects of rain made it really seem as if it was raining in the theatre. The lighting was always focused on every part of the stage, especially on those who were the main parts in that scene.
As the play is a memory play the lighting is usually quite dim to give
I have a great interest in education and school systems. Schools are one of the many non-profit organizations. Non-profit organizations are exempt from taxation. Schools are not created just to earn a profit. Schools are designed first and foremost to serve the students and help them succeed in life. Non-profit schools focus on providing quality education to students. Educational non-profits promote learning. Non-profit schools introduce new ways of teaching, learning and utilizing resources. Non-profits act in the best interests of the targeted audience; in this case, the students.
