In Major League Baseball’s 1919 World Series two teams that were the Chicago White Sox and Cincinnati Reds went up against each other. They played only a eight game series because the Cincinnati Reds already had won five games after the eighth game was over which didn’t require them to go to the ninth game. Many people found it hard to believe that the Reds actually one the World Series because the White Sox were favored to win. The bookies made the odds seven to five favored on the Chicago White Sox to win. Believe it or not the Chicago White Sox actually let the Cincinnati Reds win the series because they were payed a significant amount of money to throw the game. This famous Scandal was known as The Black Sox Scandal. The media reacted very suddenly to this scandal, the people were very shocked when they got word of it, and the aftermath of this Scandal cause many problems in baseball and society.

Today, I am going to enjoy every bit of explaining why The Chicago Cubs will win the World Series again for the 2017-2018 season for a historic repeat. Myself, and possibly the rest of the cubs fan base is still at utter shock just saying that our Cubbies (Chicago Cubs) the team that went 108 years without winning a world series finally snapped the infamous “Billy Goat Curse” and brought the great city of Chicago a world championship to the north side.

The teams that were in the 1919 world series were the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago White Sox. The White Sox's were the favorite for the game but in the end the Reds had won the game 10-5. This was a major upset and before the first pitch there had been talk of a fixed game. The game was actually fixed so that the Reds would win the game. Gamblers had payed some of the White Sox players to lose the game. The people that had to gain from the White Sox's loss were the people that put bets on the Reds to win the game. The White Sox's were the favorite so they would have a lot of people betting on them to win and not many people would bet on the Reds to win. The Chicago Blackhawks are a professional ice hockey team based in Chicago, Illinois. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). They have won four Stanley Cup Championships and fourteen division titles since their founding in 1926. Since 1994, the Blackhawks have played their home games at the United Center afterhaving spent 65 years playing at Chicago Stadium. Currently, they are the defending Stanley Cup champions,having defeated the Philadelphia Flyers at the conclusion of their 2009–10 season.

The Chicago Bulls have been in Chicago, Illinois since 1966 when they joined the NBA as an expansion team. The Bulls took over the basketball scene in Chicago by winning games and having a great fan base to come to games. The Chicago Bulls since when they first started playing at Chicago Stadium dubbed "Madhouse on Madison" they were winning games and making it to the playoffs. The Bulls did run into a slump stretching from 1976 till about 1989. Their slump turned around when the Bulls hired Phil Jackson to be the new head coach after going through 6 coaches before Jackson. They also had acquired top players such as: Michael Jordan in 1984, Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant in 1987. The Bulls were rebuilding their team and making a plan to keep them from losing revenue and fans.

Throughout the time leading up to the 1919 World Series, reporters in both Chicago and Cincinnati spoke about how good the World Series would be, and the odds-makers listed the White Sox as heavy favorites.

The Philadelphia Phillies have been a staple in Major League baseball for over 120 years. The Phillies are one of the League’s oldest teams dating back all the way to the year 1883. Over the years the Phillies have acquired many accolades and accomplishments; although the Phillies are a decorated team for many positive reasons they have also become the league’s most losing team, with over 10,000 losses. Although the Philadelphia franchise may have the most losses in any professional sport, whether it is football, basketball, or soccer, they have had many playoff runs and even a few World Series appearances. Throughout the winning and the losing seasons the Phillies have had some very good players, which went on to be a Hall-of-Famers, while many of the players were mediocre at best. Although not all of the players that played in Philadelphia were good, they had heart and drive to not let the rambunctious fans in Philadelphia not get the best of them. Whenever a family goes to one of these baseball games, the game may not be the center of attention for the kids or even the adults with the most entertaining mascot of all the Phillie Phanatic dancing around and being goofy in front of 20,000 people in the stands.

In 1978, the Red Sox held a 14-game lead in the American League East over the Yankees on July 18. However, the Yankees subsequently caught fire, eventually winning the division by  three games. In the 1986 World Series, Boston took a 5–3 lead in the top of the 10th inning. Red Sox reliever Calvin Schiraldi retired the first two batters, putting the team within one out of winning the World Series. However, the New York Mets scored three runs and winning it when Boston first baseman Bill Buckner allowed a ground ball to roll through his legs. In 2003, the Red Sox were playing the Yankees in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series. Boston held a 5–2 lead in the eighth inning, and Boston opted to stay with starting pitcher Pedro Martínez rather than go to the bullpen. New York rallied against the tired Martínez, scoring three runs on a single and three doubles to tie the game. Then in bottom of the 11th inning, Aaron Boone launched a solo home run to win the game and the pennant for the Yankees. Similar to Boston, Chicago had The Curse of the Billy Goat. The curse was supposedly placed on the Chicago Cubs Major League Baseball franchise in 1945 by Billy Goat Tavern owner William Sianis that lasted from 1945-2016. Between that 1908 triumph, which was the Cubs ' second world championship (they 'd also won the Series in 1907) Before the “curse” Chicago had won national League Pennants in 1910,

Chicago also boasts the history of having “Windy City Wrestling”, one of the first televised wrestling federations in the world.

The Chicago Bears that people know today were not always the Chicago Bears. The Bears originated in Decatur, Illinois. The first year of this franchise was in 1920 when they were called the Decatur Staley’s. Then in 1921, the owner of Staley Starch company gave George Halas $5,000 to move the Decatur Staleys to Chicago (sportsecyclopedia.com). That is when the Decatur Staleys changed their name to the Chicago Staleys. At this point, the Chicago Staleys were the pro’s most successful team. Then in 1922, George Halas changed the Chicago Staleys to the Chicago Bears (sportsecyclopedia.com)
