Every year over 6 tons of carbon dioxide is released into earth's atmosphere.we are releasing the one thing that may lead to our end on this world and the destruction of our future. By releasing all of that carbon dioxide into the atmosphere we are the ones to blame for global warming. It’s true that there are more than one sources so we are not the only source of carbon dioxide. But we are the main contributors to this deadly and harmful gas. Humans are to blame for global warming and we must do something about it or we will destroy our world.
The rise in earth’s surface temperature as a consequence of greenhouse effect is called Global Warming. The greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and other pollutants absorb more heat from the sun then it radiates back. This causes an increase in the intensity of heat in the atmosphere. The thickening of earth atmosphere because of the presence of increased carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases is called greenhouse effect. In addition, greenhouse gases can cause the ozone layer – a protective layer in the earth’s atmosphere – to develop holes. This means that harmful rays from the sun can penetrate our atmosphere more easily and scorch the earth. Future climate change and associated impacts will differ from region to region around the globe. The effects include increasing global temperatures, rising sea levels, changing precipitation, and expansion of deserts in the subtropics. Warming is expected to be greater over land than
Global warming is, in essence, term for the observed century scale rise in the average temperature of the earth’s climate and its related effect.(wiki) The greenhouse effect is mainly because the modern industrial society burned too much coal, oil and natural gas, the fuel combustion after release large amounts of carbon dioxide gas into the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is the function of heat absorption and heat insulation. It
Global warming has become a massive problem throughout the world, and as the population grows so do the effects of climate change. What people do not know is that it is the leading cause of the earth’s end and might be a minor cause of death in the far future. Global warming is one of the many things that humans have caused that has no easy fix. Professors Charles Kennel, V. Ramanathan, and David G. Victor at the University of California – San Diego say that “Greenhouse gas concentrations are trending far off the path needed to avoid dangerous interference…nations are making little progress…to cut their emissions” (398). The problem started back in 1800-1870 when the first coalition revolutions started; the use of coal, railroads, and other productions increased greenhouse gas emissions. This may have been the first cause of climate change and from here on it led to the effects. Now, it has become so damaging that it needs to be solved. Solutions need to occur because it causes a threat on the human race and is getting worse each year. The two solutions that will have the finest possible outcomes are putting a tax on carbon and using energy efficient products.
Global warming is a term heard quite often in everyday life, however, many people are unaware of what it actually is, or its diverse causes and effects on the Earth. Global warming is a the gradual increase of the Earth’s average surface temperatures, as a result of the enhanced buildup of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere; such as carbon dioxide emissions present from burning fossil fuels. Our Earth’s atmosphere behaves like a greenhouse, although, trapping heat in a different way. Gases in the atmosphere, such as carbon dioxide and methane, act like a giant piece of glass wrapped around the planet. The sun’s rays pass straight through these greenhouse gases and heat the Earth, the Earth then gives off heat energy that radiates into space. A small amount of this heat does not pass out of the atmosphere and is reflected back towards the planet and effectively traps the heat we need to survive. This is called the natural greenhouse effect and without it, the Earth would not support the large diversity of life it needs to. This process is not something to be concerned about, however, the enhanced greenhouse effect is something we, as contributors, need be aware of.
CO2 Emissions have steadily increased since the industrial revolution. The world is now producing too much CO2 and the planet cannot clean up after us humans. This leads to heat from the sun getting trapped into our atmosphere, producing heat and pollution, known as Global Warming. Everyday activities from humans are damaging the environment. Having both Natural Sources and Human Sources of CO2 it becomes a very hard problem to solve and with unimaginable consequences. There are many ways to reduce CO2 emissions in the planet, some which include electric cars, solar, nuclear and hydropower energy. Although some people will claim that nuclear energy will not work or question its safety, it has become a major alternative power supplier in the world to help reduce the CO2 emissions that lead to global warming and potential extinction of life.
Bailey Campbell Campbell 1 Robin Gore English 3 31 August 2017 Global warming Humans are destroying the Earth and we need to do something about it! The atmosphere acts as a greenhouse around the Earth protecting us and keeping us alive (Climate change causes:A blanket around the Earth). We pollute the Earth and cause global warming and that is ruining the atmosphere and killing us. Some people don't believe in global warming but the proof is astounding. There are two gases that make up the atmosphere: forcing and feedback. Forcing gases block heat and they don't respond to changes in temperature. Some examples are Carbon Dioxide, which is released naturally and by burning fossil fuels, and Methane which is released from landfills and livestock. When Carbon Dioxide is released it generates heat which stays trapped in the atmosphere and warms the Earth. When Methane is released it absorbs heat from the sun and warms the Earth.Theses are the main causes of global warming. Feedback gases do respond to changes in temperature. An example of a feedback gas is water vapor. Water vapor increases as the Earth is warmed. As it increases more clouds and rain occur (climate change causes: a blanket around the Earth). As humans we need to work together to reduce these gases in our atmosphere. Campbell 2 The release of Carbon dioxide and other pollutants have caused many problems for human life. Droughts threaten people throughout the world. Eventually the whole world will have to
The greenhouse effect is widely known, but regularly misunderstood. The greenhouse effect is the absorption of sunlight, radiated back to the atmosphere as a longer wavelength reflecting back on Earth as heat energy. The concentration of heat energy makes the Earth warmer raising our daily problems. The effect takes place in six steps. Solar radiation first reaches the Earth’s atmosphere where some is reflected back into space. The sun’s energy is absorbed by land and oceans, heating the Earth overall. Heat radiates from earth towards space. Several of the heat is trapped by greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, keeping the Earth warm enough to sustain life. Human contribution to global warming increases the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Extra greenhouse gases in the atmosphere traps additional heat, therefore, quickly rising temperature on Earth causing massive problems.
The quality of air in the atmosphere has undergone drastic changes over the past decades. The rise of the earth’s temperature due to the effect brought about by the greenhouse effect is Global warming. Greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide absorb more heat that it radiates from the sun which eventually leads to an increase in the amount of heat in the atmosphere. Climate change occurs due to the human and natural changes which help them either decrease or increase temperature. While global warming leads to flooding and the rise of sea water levels, it is also responsible for extreme drought as well as variations in weather patterns. For instance, the arid American Southwest has experienced a rise of 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit on average over the past century which has led to high competition for the depleting water sources, wildfires, extreme drought and decreased snowpack (Silver 219-233). Therefore, adverse climatic changes have been contributed mainly by global warming leading to poor agricultural yields
Global warming is already taking place. It stopped being a prediction. The temperature at the earth’s surface has averagely increased by around 0.60 C.Both the oceans and the air are warming. It is believed that the greenhouses gases’ concentrations in the atmosphere have increased dramatically since the periods of pre-industrialization. This condition is caused by the activities of human beings most especially through the burning of fossil fuels such as natural gas, oil, and coal (Wang & Chameides 1). Deforestation is also another cause. This essay will discuss what global warming is, its causes and effects.
Global warming or climate change is a very serious problem in the world today. “Global warming is the current increase in temperature of the Earth's surface (both land and water) as well as its atmosphere,” says Emily Crouse. Global temperatures have risen about 1.4°F over the last hundred years. As small and unimportant as this sounds, it is extremely dangerous for this Earth. If the temperature has risen this much in 100 years what will happen in 1,000? Rising temperatures mean rising sea levels, more wildfires, bigger and stronger storms, more allergies and disease outbreaks, and so much more. There are many causes of global warming, whether it be by human or naturally, for instance, deforestation or the burning of fossil fuels contributes to global warming in a negative way.
More than a million species face potential extinction as a result of disappearing habitats, changing ecosystems, and acidifying oceans. Global warming is a growing problem and is growing increasingly worse with more pollution getting released into the atmosphere. There are many causes, and dangerous effects of global warming, but there are ways to stop it.
It has been known that Earth’s atmospheric temperature has risen over the decades, the exact term for this is called “Global Warming”. So, what exactly does this mean? To simply state it, heat is emitted into the atmosphere and then eventually released. Some gases such as carbon dioxide, water vapor and methane capture heat more efficiently than others and are called “greenhouse gasses”, and if the atmosphere contains more of these gases, it retains more heat and becomes warmer, thus causing the rise in atmospheric temperature. “Global levels of greenhouse gases have been steadily increasing. In 1990 they were more than 14 percent higher than in 1960. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which measures long-lived greenhouse gases and publishes an Annual Greenhouse Gas Index (AGGI), greenhouse gases increased 37 percent from 1990 to 2015, and of that, carbon dioxide accounted for 80 percent of the increase (Keating).” This results in significant changes in climate and weather patterns. The rise in average temperatures is crucial and is already causing changes in the climate, “Documented changes include the net loss of ice due to melting glaciers and slowly rising sea levels as the ocean gets warmer and its waters expand (Keating).” So where exactly do these gases in the atmosphere come from, Scientists have discovered that “One significant factor, the rise in greenhouse gases, has been attributed to the activities of humankind. Burning
Global Warming is one of the most impactful issues confronting our planet. It is the rise in the temperature of the world 's surface air, and is a standout amongst the most present and generally examined components. It has great effect on the climatic states of the planet as well as on biodiversity. A few test and inclines unmistakably exhibit that global warming is straightforwardly affecting the rising ocean levels, the softening of ice glaciers, and critical overall atmosphere changes. To sum it up, global warming speaks to be a major danger to every living thing on earth as we know it and will continue to do so if no changes are made to retract it.
As global warming, we understand that is the rise in the average temperature of Earth’s atmosphere and oceans. It has been an immense concerning all over the world for the past decades since the current cycle of global warming is changing the rhythms of climate that humans, animals and plants rely on. Scientists have studied the natural cycles and events that are known to influence the change in climate to discover what is originating the current global warming. However, the amount and pattern of warming that has been measured on the planet cannot be explained just by natural factors. Therefore, it is impossible to neglect the influence of greenhouse effect, brought about the increased levels of greenhouse gases, due to the effects of different aspects as the burning of fossil fuels, agriculture activities, deforestation and the growth of population (2007). These greenhouse gasses are endangering important and necessary aspects of life and its consequences will affect each one of us.
Global warming is a subject that elicits different opinions, even in the political sphere. During the 2016 presidential campaign, the Democratic candidates all declare that global warming is a national crisis and that some policies need to be implemented. On the other hand, the majority of the Republican candidates claims that global warming is all a hoax and that designing policies to combat global warming are a waste of money and energy. The different stances happening in the political sphere are also happening outside of the political sphere. Everyone in the world has different views on global warming, but very few of us did anything to lessen the impact of global warming in that the majority of us each drive our own fossil fuel-using vehicles instead of using public transportation, and the majority of us rarely reuses and recycle. Global warming occurs when carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases trap heat in Earth 's atmosphere because some of the sun 's rays cannot escape. It is a worldwide phenomenon that impacts each and every one of us because it cause irregular climate patterns, increases the sea levels, and decreases human living standards.
As global issues today become increasingly controversial, many people are inclined to believe that Global Warming is an issue that can take a backseat to more significant issues that plague today’s society. The information presented throughout my research in regards to the rising sea levels and the melting of glaciers and ice shelves, highly indicates that it cannot. What many Americans fail to realize is that if sea levels continue to rise due to Global Warming, then more than half of Louisiana, Florida, parts of southern California, and the entire eastern coastline would cease to exist. Global Warming, by definition, is the “gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth 's atmosphere, generally attributed to the greenhouse
