Catholic Mass
In this spring break, I followed my Christian friend and visited a Catholic Church located in Seattle and I had a chance to witness on how they conduct their worship in the form of Mass. The Catholic Church has many practices and rituals such as Last Rites, praying the Rosary, receiving Communion, Confession, Baptism, and Mass according to the members of this church. Nonetheless, the Mass is the most crucial ritual as they consider it as the Lord`s Supper. The Mass is the Catholic`s official formal worship service and is considered to be the most sacred and important worship act in a Catholic church. According to the Catholics, going to the mass is considered as the only way to fulfill the third Commandment of keeping the

This set the tone for conducting Bible readings and other prayers during the Mass. During the inquiry, I was informed that each day of worship has its own prayers and readings that are unique as chosen by the church.
Upon the beginning of the Liturgy of the Eucharist which is the second section of the Mass, all the saints remained seated as the deacons passed the baskets to them so as to collect offerings that were in the form of monetary and non-monetary. The head deacon brought the offerings to the altar. He was also carrying cruets that had plain drinking water and grape wine together with a container that had unconsecrated hosts. The priest poured, into the chalice, wine and added drops of water that symbolized humanity and divinity union in Christ. Then the priest lifted the hosts as an offering presented to God. He also did the same using the chalice filled with wine. Ceremonially, the priest washed his hands similar to how rabbis and priests did prior to ritual slaughters. This according to one of the leaders in the church was a reenactment of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The Sanctus was sung after which the congregation knelt down for the first time to mark the holiest section of the Mass known as the Consecration. After the service I learned that Consecration of the wine and bread meant that they become the blood and body of Jesus according to the transubstantiation miracle. Imperative to mention is that prior to the

The bread and wine prepared for communion symbolically turn into the body and blood of Jesus Christ during the consecration rite of the Catholic mass. The consecration reminds believers of what Jesus Christ did to his disciples during 'The Last Supper.'
The Catholic Church is liturgical, which according to Catholic.com mean that they practice ceremonial worship, which makes mass an important part of the religion. During mass recitation is an important part of mass. The
God sacrificed his son, Jesus, for the good of all people and so that they too would depart from the slavery and the submission to sins and wrongdoings, in order to enter into a pure state of forgiveness and freedom. This is the key reason why Christians, of all branches, hold a great importance to Holy Communion, which remembers Christ’s sacrifice to them, which frees them of their sins up till this day. Even though, most, if not all Christian denominations agree about the origins of such a ritual, they now have different opinions about how the service is conducted. The Roman Catholic Church believes in the idea of transubstantiation, which is the belief that the bread and wine that they consume at the Eucharist meal, has over the years, mystically transformed into Jesus’ real body and blood.
The U.S. Constitution holds an immense amount of power over ones life for only having 7,900 words. The Constitution is a basic guideline of how the United States Government should work and operate. It also gives you all of your daily rights! To me, the Constitution means what being an American is, and how I am lucky to be granted so many rights, and have these rights protected. The preamble, in just 52 words sums up the whole constitution.
Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox Catholics once included a solitary Christian church with two focuses of force, Rome and Constantinople. Known as the Great Schism, was the official split between Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox Church. The Church split along doctrinal, religious, phonetic, political, and geographic lines, and the central break as never been mended. Though the Church split because of their differences, they still had some things that were similar.
The point of entry into the world of Catholic ritual is the Mass, the main worship ceremony of the Church. Rituals such as Mass generally include singing, prayer and sermon. The seven sacraments are very important in the Catholic Church. They are ceremonies that point to what is sacred, significant and important for Catholics. They consist of three different categories, which are: the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist), the sacraments of healing (Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick), and the sacraments of vocation (Marriage, Holy
135:6]. Because he willed to be present, though under the figure of bread and wine, it must be believed that after the consecration these are entirely nothing other than the flesh and blood of Christ. Whence [Jesus] spoke the very Truth to the disciples, saying “This is my flesh for the life of the world” [Jn 6:52]. And, speaking more marvelously, [this flesh in the Eucharist] is none other than that which was born from Mary, suffered on the cross, and resurrected from the tomb” (Prusak, “Explaining Eucharistic ‘Real Presence’”
1. Migrant and seasonal farm workers may have the poorest health of any aggregate in the United States and the least access to affordable healthcare (Nies, 2011). In Indiana, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides food assistance to low and no income people and families living in the United States (U.S.). It is a federal aid program administered by the Food and Nutrition Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), however, distribution of benefits occurs at the state level. In Indiana, the Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) is responsible for ensuring federal regulations are initially implemented and consistently applied in each county. People can apply for this assistance at their local Division of Family Resources. There are also many places that participate in the emergency food assistance program (TEFAP) and food pantries. In Lake County, Indiana, the largest food pantry is the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana, which is a TEFAP participant and also a soup kitchen. They are open Monday through Friday during the day. There are also food pantries in trustee offices and churches, but some of them are by referral only. In some cases, the community health nurse can make a referral (in.gov, 2014).
The Great Papal Schism is also known as the Western Schism that lasted from 1378 – 1417, during which the papacy (the position itself) was in great divide between three popes in the Roman Catholic Church. This political upheaval within the Roman Catholic Church caused distrust of the western civilization towards the church. It began after the Avignon Papacy or the more commonly referred to, “Babylonian captivity of the papacy” which was when the papal court was moved to France and French cardinals who later became popes from 1309-1378 resided in Avignon, France (a total of seven French popes by the papal names Clement V all the way to Gregory XI, who moved the court back to Rome) while being heavily influenced by the French kings; this also resulted to the decline of the papal power and authority (Miller, Study.com).
Two practices important to Christian worship usually take place in churches. These practices are (1) baptism and (2) the Eucharist, also called Holy Communion or the Lord's Supper. The ceremony of baptism celebrates an individual's entrance into Christianity. The Eucharist represents the Last Supper, the final meal that Jesus shared with His disciples. Worshipers share bread and wine in the Eucharist as a sign of their unity with each other and with Jesus.
Our society today suffers from multiple diseases. Diseases range from cancer, HIV, diabetes, and mental illness. What people do not usually think about as a disease is bullying. Bullying is one of those diseases that is a major problem is human lives. Bullying is an act that harms many people around the world, especially here in the United States of America.“Bullying can defined by many things. It’s teasing, name calling, stereotyping, cyber bullying, fighting, exclusion, spreading rumors, public shaming, and aggression intimidation” (Strickland). According to educational reports, an average of 15% of children in elementary school are in involved in bullying (Ross). This high of a percentage proves that bullying is still a major problem today in American society. While the percentage is not close to a hundred, those 15% of young children are affected enough. Fifteen percent of young children being bullied is more than enough to prove that bullying should be frowned upon. “[Bullying] can be in person and online. But it can often be considered a rite of passage” (Strickland). Bullying causes a variety of problems. The problems are not only in young people, but also adults who were bullied before. To cure this epidemic, it would be beneficial to society if society was informed about these negative effects.
Throughout the semester, we examined many different topics that are important to know and which are beneficial to the priestly ministry. One of these is the church’s Magisterium which is held as the authoritative teaching office of those who teach the community in the name of Christ. It serves its role to safeguard the truth of God by faithfully interpreting and applying God’s revelation. It seems that, in our current society, many people don’t know what to believe anymore. This crisis of people not knowing what to believe has affected the Catholic Church even moreso because of the whole sex scandal in recent years. Because of incidents like this, Catholics no longer trust nor do they know what to believe when it comes to morality, faith, and
Many Catholics attend mass on Saturday night instead of Sunday morning because of the work schedule. This was not always the case but has been accepted by Christians since around 1980. They also have rituals of respect during the service which includes kneeling, singing, bowing and responding to the priest or deacon.
Receiving the Eucharist is one of the most important things we can do as a catholic. Holy Communion is the most important of all the sacraments. It completes the Sacraments of Initiation. The bread and wine we receive at communion is the body and blood of Jesus. It becomes the bread and body of Jesus through Transubstantiation. Transubstantiation is the conversion of the substance of the Eucharistic elements into the body and blood of Christ at consecration, only the appearances of bread and wine still remain. We participate in the sacrament of communion to commemorate all that Jesus did for us and getting nailed to a cross so we can be free from sin and have eternal life in heaven.
