Jeffrey MacDonald was convicted in 1979 for the murders of his pregnant wife Colette and their two daughters on February 21, 1970. At the time McDonald was convicted of murder he and his wife were living the American dream. They had a steady income, household and a loving family.
Biography
Jeffrey MacDonald was born in Jamaica, Queens, New York City, New York. At the end of his high school education he received a full scholarship to assist Princeton University. Jeffrey MacDonald was known by his classmates as an intelligent, popular, and most likely to succeed student. On September 14, 1943 he married his high school sweetheart Colette Stevenson, while assisting Northwestern University Medical School. In 1969 he joined the Army as a Captain in the 3rd special forces group as a surgeon. A few months earlier before the brutal murders occurred Colette wrote some friends on a Christmas card “We are having a great, all-expense paid vacation in the Army. It looks as if Jeff will be here in North Carolina for the entire two years, which is an immense load of my mind at least. Life has never been so normal nor so happy” (NEED CITE). The family was happy, financially stable, and progressing toward a better future.
