Illegal immigrants are always entering our country, they make our country. There should be a way that can make illegal immigrants gain citizenship while also benefiting us, and there can be. A place where diverse cultures and people can congregate and create a beautiful mix of foods, arts, and language. Immigration is such a great experience for America making it thrive, survive, and grow to be what it is today. Illegal immigration has distaste for it, cultural divide, harassment, and stereotypical views. A very helpful scenario that would contribute to both U.S citizens and illegal immigrants, is the Landing Families Project, where illegal immigrants can work for citizenship. Where they can work for 4 years anywhere, switching jobs if need be but just making sure they are providing for their family.
Mexico is a great example to use when discussing why working towards citizenship would be a great thing for both Americans and illegal immigrants. Starting off with a heated topic, that people try to flee Mexico to get a better life here and a job to support their family. Most people believe that it is for wrong reasons such as drug dealing, or gang related activities. This situation can surely be helped if illegal immigrants could work off their citizenship. When immigrants want to enter America they would apply for any job that is available and companies would pick them up if their application is good. If the illegal immigrant can prove that he/she wants to improve their family's lifestyle than it was in their original country (Mexico for this occasion) than they would get a green card allowing them to work on the fact that they are trying to support their families. This project is more in favor for pregnant women, or single mother/fathers, due to them being by themselves and with children. This would help the gang stereotype because most gang members, or drug dealers won't be able to provide a way they're going to help their family.
Many Mexicans have many bad labels on them, stereotypical people have put this label on them. They have to carry that around, even the purest of Mexicans. Many Mexican families travel across the border illegally, and allegedly steal jobs, but in reality they aren't, this is just
Undocumented immigrants should be given a pathway to citizenship because it is unlikely to locate and deport all “11 million undocumented or ‘illegal’ immigrants” (Champagne et al. 36). With such a large number in population, it would substantially cost a great deal of time and money to deport all of them. Although the immigrants are illegal, they contribute to the economy with their small businesses and generally work the low-level jobs. Conversely, people who advocate for the deportation of immigrants believe that letting them stay would increase the number of illegal immigrants. While this may be true, the more illegal immigrants that gain citizenship would increase the number of taxes the state and federal governments can
Should a "pathway to citizenship" be made available to the 10-12 million undocumented immigrants currently residing in the US?
The pathways to citizenship for illegal immigrants is one that can be described as a long, time consuming process, that is only available to a small pool of people. For many, taking this route to citizenship is simply insufficient for their current conditions so, they resort to other ways of becoming a citizen. However, people are split between whether this illegal pathway is excusable when an immigrant eventually becomes legalized and gains the requirements necessary. Pathways to citizenship for the illegal immigrants who would like to come here should be allowed because it allows for people to have a better life, and the process of becoming legal from their countries to ours is a long process. Becoming a legal citizen for an illegal
One important reason that immigrants should have a path to citizenship is that the United States of America is a country filled with immigrants. We are are the land of freedom and opportunity. And according to Senator Charles E. Schumer Upfront Magazine 2015 he had stated ¨My home is in Brooklyn, I can see the statue
In today's world, illegal immigrants are given no opportunities in life. However, suppose there is a way to give immigrant children a chance to a new life. A way for those to connect and meet people with different backgrounds. Imagine the United States government funding and administering a living and educational facility for those immigrant children in search for a better life. The "New Beginnings" facility will educate the youth. The children will learn and explore diverse languages. The facility will teach the children about American culture and allow them to exchange ideas, for instance the food Americans eat, the sports played, and one's religion. This can enable the children to have careers and provide them with United States jobs later in their lives.
In recent news, the nation has had the ongoing debate of whether or not the United States should welcome illegal immigrants. It is estimated that there are 11.3 million undocumented immigrants in the United States. Many of these people have come here in search of a better life, that they realize our country can provide. These immigrants make up a significant portion of our labor force and in many cases are willing to do jobs that American workers will not do. Therefore, by allowing them the opportunity to live and work here, many have become productive members of our society, without committing a crime.
Eleanor Roosevelt said, “the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” That statement holds strong for immigrants in America. Equal access to opportunities allows immigrants to achieve the American dream. Their success correlates with America’s success because of the contributions immigrants provide to America. Unfortunately, the current immigration policy in America denies many immigrants the American dream. It is crucial to understand the historical context of immigration in America. Initially, most immigrants were from Europe and were not restricted by any immigration laws. Now, most immigrants come from Latin America but are restricted to severe immigration laws. The Latino/a community is one of the most
In the United States, there are over 40 million immigrants, both legal and unauthorized (Auclair, Batalova, Nwosu 1). Of that 40 million, an estimated 11 million immigrants are not authorized to be in the country (Krogsadt, Passel 1). In recent news, there has been quite the debate over whether or not there should be amnesty or citizenship offered to some or all of the undocumented citizens in America. I have a personal attachment to the subject. I believe there should be a clear and easy pathway to citizenship for immigrants with some restrictions. I support this idea because they provide for older generations, younger generations, and fill jobs
values, talents, and contributions of immigrants. People from all over the world seek the United States for just one honest reason, a better life and future. Most of the immigrant families and their children come from Mexico, Central and South America, and even Asia. These people enter the United States via one of three modes of entry, legal immigration, illegal entry, and as refugees. Because of their legal status, many immigrants are illegible to receive any type of public services such as healthcare and public education. This is something that has been going on for years, and many Americans feel that it is a fair thing to do. By actually providing illegal immigrants to have access to public services the United States could benefit a lot from it, starting with a healthier and safer environment, also, having access to public education will help the economy in the long run, and lastly, after obtaining a college degree, it is extremely possible for them to get a good paying job.
Becoming a U.S. citizen is a long process with a lot of requirements. These requirements take copious amounts of time which do not help lower the current illegal immigration population in the United States. In fact, “as of the year 2016, the United States population was 323.1 million citizens, approximately- 12.5 million of those citizens living in the United States are illegal immigrants” (Raley). In order for an undocumented immigrant to qualify for U.S citizenship they must meet very specific criteria. A path to citizenship is a long process, which in some cases can take up to ten years or longer. Before becoming a citizen of the United States, the recipient must be a green card holder for at least five years. If the
In the United States illegal immigration benefits the economy and growth, but also creates more problems such as inviting more immigrants. According to the article Undocumented Immigrants Should Receive Social Services by Melissa Marietta confirms “Immigrants to this country are not fighting for a student loan or access to a free clinic; they are fighting for the opportunities that they are denied in their native country” (Marietta). Most people look for a better future and head towards the opportunities illegal immigrants recognize United States as a land of opportunities. There are many working opportunities such as mining, railroad, lumbering, and construction in the United States. For example, a common job for illegal immigrants is the construction field. The
Illegal immigration has become more of an important issue in the United States since Donald Trump’s campaign for president in 2016. Immigration can be known as the act of people crossing national borders to live permanently in other countries. It becomes illegal when they cross those borders without the legal right to be in those countries. The U.S. has been an immigrant country since the pilgrims in the 1600s and has ever since, been diverse. Most of the immigrants are Latinos that come from Central America, but they also come from all over the world. The current path to legal citizenship is flawed and needs to be reformed to allow rights to be upheld, equal and fair treatment of all applicants, and to facilitate the process altogether.
The immigration patterns of the United States have fluctuated over the years, some years having little while others see a rising amount of immigrants, both legal and illegal, looking for opportunities to improve their lives. The amount of illegal immigration is a problem since many take advantage of the social services provided by the government without contributing towards the country since they are not citizens and many people see these illegal immigrants as a threat to their employment. Illegal immigrants do affect the U.S negatively in a number of ways, but if those illegal immigrants were to have a safe passageway towards gaining citizenship, the immigrants would contribute greatly towards the
In the United States, children of illegal immigrants are automatically given the citizenship. Once in the country they tend to search for work without permit or citizenship, illegal immigrant tend to have no choices than work on low paycheques or disgusting work or in bad conditions in what is known as low skilled jobs. These kinds of jobs are usually bad work conditions and don’t attract many employees. For example, many illegal immigrants decide to work in a job that doesn’t require any permits, as landscape and construction are the most common ones for immigrants because they only require intense work. Others are employed into restaurants as dish washing, hospitality, prostitution, agriculture, and domestic services. Besides these raisons to immigrate, others search for better economic services and opportunities; people illegally migrate due to family problems, war, overpopulation, or illness. Some countries around the world are
America is considered to be the “land of opportunity,” yet ironically, its doors are closed to the vast majority of people seeking to become citizens and pursue this opportunity. Legal immigration to the United States is a complicated process that is generally limited to those that have been petitioned by family members or employers, or have fled their home country as refugees. Most unauthorized immigrants do not meet these requirements, and even those that do may have to wait years or even decades. This leaves many with the choice to either immigrate illegally, or not immigrate at all. Those who choose the former receive criticism from Americans that do not understand why they refuse to just “get in line” and become legitimate citizens, but this line already has 4 million people, and for many there is no line at all. The naturalization process is specifically designed to protect the national security of the country, but there are some immigrants that could potentially be hard-working, law-abiding citizens who are denied this opportunity due to the complexity of the process. It would be beneficial to make a simpler pathway to citizenship for these immigrants specifically, and reduce the number of illegal immigrants, strengthen the economy, and keep families together.
