The intention to posting the paper’s citation on D2L was so that the student could look for the paper on the Ryerson Library website by using the given information. By figuring out how to use the library website and familiarizing themselves with the database system, future research purposes will be easier and more efficient when finding citable papers.

Barrie Super subs, one of the larger super subs restaurants, is a part of a chain of 300 restaurants across Canada. Currently, Barrie Super Subs has a restaurant manager, who rarely has time to serve customers and is even discouraged by head office from doing so; an assistant manager whose main priority is assisting the manager with purchasing, hiring, accounts and spends little time on the frontline serving customers; and finally, several part time team leaders who are either full time college or high school students who only service customers.

Metadata will include access management, preservation, administrative, descriptive, technical and structural data. Much of the metadata will have to be created. The original volumes had no table of contents, index, or other description of the records. Additionally, volumes were arranged chronologically with no attention paid to document type, source, or content. In addition to author, title, publisher, and date, descriptive metadata will be expanded include keywords regarding subjects, individuals, locations, or events referenced in the document, as well as any related documents. This will be a time consuming and costly effort, but it required to maximize the value of the online data to researchers, students, teachers, etc. An index for all volumes was completed after the fact in 1909 and that index will be incorporated into a referential database behind the web page front end, rather than in the metadata itself. This helps to enable students to academic research and gives them access to other learning opportunities.

When you think of a researcher you think of a scientist doing an experiment. I feel like that is the same as a research paper just without the experiment. So, in a research paper it’s your own interpretation or evaluation or argument. Meaning, you use everything that you personally know and have researched about that topic. When I am assigned a research paper the first thing I do is look it up online to understand more about it. At that point, I try to figure out what is worth talking about in the paper or figure out what I can argue to get my point across. As for library databases, I never used them once because I use technology. I can give a detailed report on the assignment with the correct amount of research and citations.

Scholarly databases are full- text collections of articles from the newspaper, journals, and electronic reference sources. They are intended for people who have a knowledge of the topic and are using it for informative purposes. The articles are usually written by scholars or researchers and always have references, credentialing and also most of the times a DOI number. The DOI number is a “ Digital Object identifier” which is a standard unique number given to a specific article more like an ID number.
