The T.V show " Girlfriends" is very eye catching for young women between the ages of 16-35. It deals with girl related issues, for example: what am i going to wear on my first date, or do i look fat? These are some of the topics friends talk about. The show is based on four African American women who have been friends since early childhood, it takes place now in the present. The girls are in there mid-20's-early 30's. The characters names are Jone, Tony, Mya, and Lin. Some of the topics which they talk about include marrige, finnancial problems, legal issues, children, and fashion. Jone is a highly known attourney, Mya is Jone's secretary, Tony is a real estate agent, and Lin is a free soul.

The selection called “Reality TV: Surprising throwback into the past?” written by Patricia Cohen suggests love and marriage through TV is shallow. Reality TV is mixing relationships with money and that is immoral. Women, like in this article, expect and trust the viewers to choose her true match through a series of bachelors. Ladies feel that if they don’t get married by late 20s, they are to be single for the rest of their lives. They consider going on a TV show because they feel like they have nothing to lose. In the process they might gain lots of money and a true love. When they take this crude way, they don’t realize the risks of divorce. The girls don’t see that this does not guarantee a real marriage.

It is almost time for Bachelor in Paradise and spoilers are already coming out like crazy. Grant Kemp will be on the show trying to find love once again and it turns out that things go great for him. Hollywood Life shared that ABC actually spoiled that Grant proposes at the end of the show. In the preview video, you can see the tattoo of a guy that is down on one knee. It turns out that this guy is Grant Kemp based on the tattoo on his arm. ABC probably wasn't thinking about that when they posted this preview. Of course, the fans notice things like that right away.

Television was not at its best a decade ago, producers were struggling trying to figure out how it can reach to a broad audience and have them stay. Thanks to reality T.V, the television industry has not been the same ever since. Reality TV always get its viewers on the edge of their chair, from shows like The Bachelor, to other shows like Intervention, “all of them make you sit up and pay attention” (Poniewozik 1). Reality TV shows will do whatever it takes to get people to watch them. From a simple show called The Bachelor talking about love stories, to a show where they show a life of drug addict. They all presents a stories within, and sending a message to its viewers. What makes the viewer watches the show is the messages that the reality tv show trying to reach to its viewers.

Nine Network's Married at first sight and dating apps like Tinder are ways of finding love at first sight. You are given a profile with a name, age, photo and sometimes a quote they like and you have to decide if they will make a suitable life partner based on this tiny amount of information. After these shows like Married at first sight has finished filming they couples usually break it off realising that they really are not suitable partners for each other. Looking back at last year's season all three couples had called it quits after the final, in an interview with a Nine TV crew all six of the participant had stated that they believe that there is someone else out there at they and their partner fitted with better than themselves. They realised that they had based an opinion on someone and chosen to marry them without knowing who they are as a person at all, all they knew when walking down the aisle was their name. Written in an informal style, Destiny Kaus’s article provides data to support her thesis that states, “Overall, I really do think these shows are exceedingly dumb and they shouldn’t exist because the process doesn’t work.” In the article, she presents her bias by arguing that these drama-filled shows, where men and women compete for love and matrimony, are “dumb” and ultimately fail at providing everlasting love. The informality of the article creates a connection with the audience, but the excessive use of the word “dumb” distracts the reader from the actual brilliance of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette franchise. More important, this article is fundamentally flawed as it only references the simple analysis of these shows as a meaningless search for love instead of the tactical attack of capitalism by the television industry. What was your favorite childhood T.V. show? My favorite childhood T.V. show was Full House. I watched Full House all the time when I was younger. Once i got home from school or had free time i would watch it if it was playing on T.V.

Chris Soules’ objective of finding true love did land him up on the show ‘The Bachelor’ wherein he was hopeful and looking forward to develop a sort of relationship and chemistry with the women appearing on the show. This, however, did not meet much success as he remained single in the show.

This show represents a type of “love” that is called pseudo love, which is defined according to Mickel and Hall (2008). Pseudo love is loving without depth. It is surface love. Mickel and Hall state the idea, “I love you only so long as you make me feel good. The moment you make me feel bad or unhappy, I question my love for you” (2008, pg. 31). Pseudo love is being found more in society because people are refusing to have depth with one another. This relates perfectly to The Bachelor, any possible love that is found on this show is only pseudo love. This is because if there are any problems that arise between the bachelor and one of the women, the bachelor simply eliminates the woman from the show and continues onto the next girl.
