One of the most tragic moments throughout all American history in my opinion is the Assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. With no surprise I am writing about certain event that occurred leading up to, during, and after this unfortunate event. This historical event is clouded with conspiracy but I will try to avoid specifics of that particular view. Abraham Lincoln was born in a little town located within Hardin Country, Kentucky on February 12, 1809 (www.whitehouse.gov/abrahamlincoln). He grew up dirt poor and in my opinion could be considered a frontiers man just like his father was. His mother on the other hand passed away when Lincoln was at a very young age. Lincoln was also in my opinion of great intelligence, hard worker, and a very ambitious young man. He would farm and run a store in New Salem, Illinois (www.whitehouse.gov). A little less known tale about him is that he was a very good wrestler back in the day and received his nick name “honest Abe” for walking a library book several miles to be returned. He met the love of his life May Todd after becoming a dynamic lawyer and had four young boys. Sadly only one lived to see adult hood (www.history.com). Abraham Lincoln became the 16th President of the United States of America in 1861. At this time the states where not so united. As a matter of fact 13 of them had succeeded from the union in the same year President Lincoln was elected (1861). The historical significance of this time was known as the
Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard write Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination That Changed America Forever , a book about the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln and the events leading up to the assassination. The purpose of the book is to strategically break down the days and events leading up to the death of Abraham Lincoln and provoke thoughts in the minds of the readers. The authors want to uncover proven and alleged conspiracy theories. Bill O’Reilly writes a plethora of other books with Martin Dugard such as Killing Regan, Killing Kennedy, Killing Jesus, and Killing Patton, just to name a few. They do write their own books separately. Bill O’Reilly writes Culture Warrior, A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity, Pinheads and Patriots, and Lincoln 's Last Days. Martin Dugard on the other hand wrote The Last Voyage of Columbus, Into Africa, The Training Ground, and Knockdown on his own.

As Ulysses S. Grant, Commanding General of the Union Army of the United States of America, during the Civil War, I strongly believe that our President, Abraham Lincoln is innocent regarding all charges being pressed on him today. Abraham Lincoln's family moved to Indiana and at age nine. A man of great perseverance, Lincoln used every opportunity to further his education. With only one year of formal education, Lincoln educated himself and became a lawyer. President Lincoln would use the opportunity to eradicate slavery forever. That a man so gentle, so kind, so free from every particle of malice or unkindness, every act of whose life has been so marked by benevolence and goodwill, should become the victim of a cold-blooded assassination, shocked the public heart beyond expression. That the very moment, too, when he was closing the rebellion which had drenched our land in blood and tears by acts of magnanimity so signal as even to excite the reluctant distrust and apprehensions of his own friends should be chosen for his murder, adds a new element of horror to the dreadful tragedy.
Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States of America. He was elected into presidency on November 6, 1860. Many of the southern states were unsupportive of Lincoln becoming president because he had run on an anti-slavery platform. Lincoln being elected into presidency caused states such as South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Texas to split from the Union. In his inaugural address Lincoln proclaimed it was his duty to maintain the Union; a month later the Civil War began. Although Lincoln did many great things for our country, his vital role in the Civil War is what most likely lead to his assassination.
