5. The analytical strategy and its appraisal
Analytical strategy includes organising, managing and analysing the data collected throughout the research. In this article, the researchers have used narrative and rhetorical analysis for the transcripts. All of the interviewees are describing their work and personal life as stories throughout the interview. Some of the interviewees, Richard and Phil have used headline solution and repetition to create identifies of middle managers (Thomas and Linstead, 2002). All the selected data and documents for analysis should be credible, reliable and meaningful to the research. Ethnographic or qualitative content analysis is used in this research. It is a holistic approach on classifying, diagnosing and analysing documents which enables researchers to construct or extract meanings from the context (Altheide, 1996). The researchers have applied grounded theory for analysing qualitative data. It is one of the approach under qualitative analysis ,which develops theory from data collection and followed by analysis. Data collection and analysis therefore have close relationships with each other. The steps of grounded theory are identifying research questions, theoretical sampling, data collection, coding, theoretical saturation, constant comparison and lastly results of the research (Bryman and Bell, 2011). The results are being classified into categories or themes. In the research article, the researchers have divided their analysis into
In reference to the analysis process the author states that the interview were recorded and transcribed verbatim. Moreover, the investigator validated the data through multiple interviews and evaluated it for stability, consistency and dependability. For the detailed analysis the author used content analysis and constant comparative techniques. In addition to that a committee of experts performed an external audit to resolve the differences in the analysis process.
The procedures of qualitative content analysis fall into two central taxonomies: inductive category development and deductive categories application (Mayring, 2000). The research adopts the former approach since “inductive content analysis is used in cases where there are no previous studies dealing with the phenomenon or when it is fragmented” (Elo & Kyngas, 2008). The steps are briefly illustrated in the diagram
The method I chose for this analysis is in-depth interview. This ethnographic method will be best because it allows me to understand an
In the play The Tragedy of Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare, Lady Macbeth was an important character. She was the wife of the King of Scotland. Lady Macbeth had first come off as a forceful character but as time passed, her weaknesses were shown.
The framework suggested by Walker and Avant was used for the analysis described in this research. The method of research included:
Qualitative research reflects different ways that researcher’s collect data and explore all of the information through literature review. Participant’s that are reviewing is often observed for analysis while “the role of the researcher focuses as the primary data collection instrument necessitates the identification of personal values, assumptions and biases at the outset of the study; Qualitative researchers ask at least one central question” (Creswell, 2014, which can be explored in several contexts with further questions. According to the text Research Design (2014) “the researcher’s role is typically involved in a
Propaganda is the specialty of influencing others to your side of the story as the right way of thinking. The propaganda forms used in today’s society end up treating people as a means rather an end. Basically, it looks at people today, as being incapable of making wise choices and researching out the matter fully. Propaganda is unavoidable and it is all over in places such as social media, newspapers, television and advertisements. In addition, the feelings that individuals have toward the activities that are taking place constantly change contingent upon their own perspective. However, being inundated with influential thoughts of outside sources on a continued basis ultimately leads to the point where the individual being used stops scrutinizing the
This section of the article shall address the approach used in the case study, providing explanations of the preferred research method, sample details, variables under examination, data collection
Qualitative research is concerned with meanings of experiences and interactions. Qualitative research is very common in the social sciences, although it is often used in market research as well (Alasuutari, 2010; Nieswiadomy, 2011). There has been quite a rise in qualitative research in the last 30 years. It first started to emerge in journals in the 1960’s, and an increase in the number of qualitative research can be seen in research journals in the 1980’s (Alasuutari, 2010). Instead of looking at the statistical numbers within research, the researcher in interested in getting within the research, and understanding the phenomenon (Leedy, 2011; LoBionod-Wood & Haber, 2013).
Following a critical overview of the literature, this chapter outlines the research methodology. It will provide a justification for a qualitative methodological approach and specification of methods employed. Highlighting the appropriateness of interviews and focus groups in relation to the methodology and overall research. It will also provide recognition of their relative strengths and limitations.
As grounded theory was employed by Carroll, data analysis and findings were based on the categorisation of themes. Although Carroll’s data analysis methodology has been deemed appropriate to qualitative research (Strauss, 1997, p. 180), the reader questions whether majority perspectives were favoured over individual for analysis, potentially distorting eventual findings.
Autonomous sensors nodes to monitor physical or environmental conditions, such as temperature, sound, vibration, pressure, motion or pollutants and to cooperatively pass their data through the network to a receiver (destination) [1] [7].
When utilizing a qualitative approach, the task becomes one of determining the qualitative method to be used. Additionally, Stake (2010) used purpose, research design, and methodical data techniques as a way of classifying types of qualitative research. Similarly, Cresswell & Cresswell (2007) spoke of five practices of qualitative research. These five practices consist of biography, phenomenological study, grounded theory study, ethnography, and case study. This researcher chose a phenomenological study for this research project.
Qualitative research is the technique that is used as a part of exploratory research and to derive the independent variables. There are different methods through which we can conduct the qualitative research. As a part of this study we have adopted the following methods:
The methodology of the research is qualitative hence secondary resources such books, reference materials, on line articles on BI, IT journals on PDF served as the basis of discussion. Five people were also interviewed to solicit their personal views
