Alex Jones never fails to entertain us with his bizarre conspiracy theory. Three months after apologizing for bluffing about a child sex ring at a Washington, D.C., pizzeria, the radio show host is now promoting another lousy theory; there’s a child slave colony on Mars under NASA’s observation.

Totalitarian leaders used propaganda to persuade followers to believe that their country would be restored again. Propaganda is when information deliberately spread to help or harm a person, group, or institution. This allows people to be pursued by the leaders and gives the leaders the advantages. In “Barn Burning,” Abner is described as stiff, wolf-like, and without heat because of his coldness and bitterness toward society in which he was part of during the time of the War Between the States. The main character is Abner Snopes who sharecrops to make a living for his family; in his story, Faulkner describes a typical relationship between wealthy people and poor people during that particular time.
Osama bin Laden and Adolf Hitler –both the biggest enemies of their century, both announced dead on May 1st. The unsettling parallel continues beyond a shared anniversary. Behind both men lays a deceptively simple, yet endlessly complicated driving force: a poverty of humiliation. In Searching for the Roots of 9/11, a documentary by American journalist Thomas Friedman, the case is made for a poverty of humiliation in the Middle East as being a root cause of 9/11. The utopian reign of the perfect visionary ideology is not unique. Following the First World War, a poverty of humiliation in Germany was a driving force behind the diplomacy of Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist German Worker’s Party (Nazi Party).
Throughout history things have changed in society, especially in the past fifty years. Society has allowed the creators to either cater to the consumers wants or to do as they please. By allowing the creators to have this power, the society that is known today has both people pleasers and people that like to be in control. Newspapers have went from trying to cater to their audience to choosing to provide the information the way that they believe will attract more views. Cell phone creators were able to change how contacting someone over the phone from only a specific place into being able to do so at anytime and anywhere. Newspaper creators of The Onion take a different approach than the makers of cell phones on how they attract their consumers but they have both changed to adhere to the time period.
Alex Jones, famous for his far-right rhetoric and his conspiracy theories, has been presented with a golden ticket.
Michael Moore’s documentary Fahrenheit 9/11 is a visual that critiques President George W. Bush’s regime, particularly with regard to the handling of the “war on terror.” Moore stresses the questionable ethical nature of the post-9/11 policies put in place by the Bush administration, particularly as they give a new meaning to the U.S. relationship between censorship and freedom. In this manner, the documentary challenges the Bush’s administration construction of America’s morality as self-serving and ultimately elitist. The film contends that Americans were deceived during the push for war with Afghanistan and Iraq since no weapons of mass destruction existed, and Saddam Hussein was never a threat to the security of the United States (Weber, 2006, p. 115). According to the film, Iraq had no connection to the September 11, 2001 attacks, and that the Iraqi government, under the presidency of Saddam, had fewer people compared to that under Bush. Stated differently, Moore contends that far from being the leading defender of human rights, America has turned into a willing participant in acts of torture of prisoners. The film uses the themes of elitism and vengeance in critiquing the Bush Administration.
Matthew Drudge was born on October 28, 1966 and raised in Takoma Park, Maryland, USA. He is the founder of the news aggregator site called the Drudge Report. Before starting the Drudge Report, he worked many odd jobs such as counterman at 7-Eleven, manager at McDonalds. Initially, the Drudge Report started as entertainment e-mail notes and newsletters, which were part gossip and part opinion. However, gradually the newsletter changed into more political gossip rather than entertainment and shifted the format from e-mail to Web. The site usually carries some stories written by Matt Drudge himself and links to other popular stories. The Drudge Report came into limelight after it reported the running of John
Three of the inmates are sobbing. The others sit motionless on metal chairs, eyes locked on the small, sad woman in front of them.
Paul makes a response to a letter from the Corinthians that pertained to various critical concerns. Specifically, the Corinthians had a concern about human sexuality (1 Corinthians 1:1-40), (Harris, 2014, p.343). Interestingly, Paul responded by informing the people that he prefers a single life without any kind of sexual connection. He also conveys that he wishes that all men, unmarried women, and single women would choose the single life as he has chosen (1 Corinthians 1:7-8), due to marriage can be agonizing, demanding, and distracting. Paul believed that the painful experience of marriage was attributed to the obligations the husband and wife have for one another and the concerns each of them has for the world, that takes away time from
Lady Macbeth’s pivotal role in Macbeth’s calamity is illustrated through her immorality which stemmed from her deceptiveness and manipulation of Macbeth’s thoughts, emotions and actions, leading the play to its tragic conclusion. Throughout the progression of the play, Lady Macbeth proves to be exceedingly manipulative with no qualms about achieving her ambition. She cleverly influences Macbeth by exploiting Macbeth’s vulnerability and skilfully using it as a weapon. This is apparent when she accuses him of not loving her “From this time/ Such I account thy love” and criticises him of cowardice “Art thou afeard…’; “And live a coward”. In Act 1, Scene 7, Lady Macbeth insults and humiliates Macbeth by questioning his manliness; “What beast was’t
In a system that claims to be democratic, a question of its legitimacy remains. Does the American public really have the power that the government says that we do? Conspiracies concerning the government have always been the center of many discussions and arguments. Cases like the Kennedy assassination, to even Elvis stories have gained a lot of attention. One conspiracy that has missed the public eye is the existence of the Illuminati. The word Illuminati derives from the Latin word Illumine, which means, “To be enlightened.” (The history of the Illuminati. Myron Fagon Epic Tree Video, 1964). They feel that they are superior and possess a higher level of intellect. Their goal is create a one-world government, which is known as the “New
The recent surge in popularity of social media comes with a price: fake news. Fake news is defined as news or media that has been altered or modified. Journalists have begun to analyze why that fake news exists and why it continues exist. Two authors, Eoin O’Carroll and Kevin D. Williamson, both have written articles about fake news. Eoin O’Carroll’s article “How Information Overload Helps Spread Fake News,” discusses how the media has bombarded us with news stories, blurring the distinct lines between real and fake news. Kevin D. Williamson, a journalist for the National Review, writes in his article “‘Fake News, Media and Voters: Shared Reality Must Be Acknowledged” that the news is not fake; it just does not align with one’s personal beliefs. Both authors successfully appeal to their audiences’ emotions and feelings, but O’Carroll is more likely to succeed than Williamson in persuading his audience to try and combat fake news because the writer presents himself as someone the intended readers will more readily identify with and offers evidence that his readers will find more compelling.
Forensic science plays a role in most criminal cases. In addition, it has become part of mainstream American culture due to television and programs that are based on solving crimes. The connection between science and law has been full of ups and downs. In the courtroom, lawyers may find themselves examining scientific notions that they do not have a full understanding of. Likewise, judges, who are also unexperienced with scientific concepts, are forced to make the decision of whether evidence is relevant and reliable. There is great concern surrounding the quality of our forensic science system. However, the courts continue to rely on forensic evidence without having a full understanding on the limitations of certain forensic science disciplines. There are rules that govern the admissibility of forensic science in court. In the case, Bloodsworth v. State of Maryland, these rules were not followed and the forensic evidence presented should not have been admissible in court. Every attempt should be made to properly study techniques and have its accuracy verified before being used to describe or analyze evidence in court.
