We all have our favorite time of the year; it might be summer, spring, fall or even winter. The holidays are a time for celebrations, decorating and heartwarming love. The holidays are just a joyous time of the year. They are also a time for family, friends, and great food and let 's not forget a break from work. But my overall favorite time of the year is the holiday season, Thanksgiving and Christmas and the family traditions that brings out the holiday spirit.
To start with, Thanksgiving is a day of giving thanks. It is not only a time to give thanks on that day, but to be thankful throughout the entire year. Thanksgiving is not just about the turkey and dressing, the honey ham or the pecan pies; it is day for families to gather together, enjoy each other and give thanks for the many blessings we have received. It is a day where we gather at my house and everyone pitches in and brings their favorite dish. I provide the main meal, the chicken and dressing and my daughter, Tamika does the potato salad. We usually purchase our desserts and my granddaughter, Alexus likes to set the table, and she does it so beautifully. Thanksgiving is when we all get full, stuffed and just lazy and sleepy. We gather around in the living room to watch the Dallas Cowboys football game, the kids play their video games and lastly the night ends with everyone shopping for the Black Friday deals, that’s the exciting part of it all. Thanksgiving, is not only a time to spend with our families but
Carolina Flores has had an extraordinary experience at Casco Bay High School. She had a passionate smile as she said, “I would redo my four years here again.” Her journey before a CBHS was different. Her 8th grade year everyone kept telling her only weird go to CBHS or it's a hard school. But her mother didn't wanted her to go to Deering High school because her older sister had a horrible experience at DHS. “My older sister didn't want me to same experience as she did in high school,” Carolina said. But right now she is so grateful and thankful for mother forcing her to go Casco. She learned how to come out of her comfort zone, for example, her biggest millstone was being a dj at her 10th grade year for the Halloween dance.
Thanksgiving is the time to come to enjoy each other's company and eat good. Most of the time families watch football together and catch up with each other. Thanksgiving means showing thanks and appreciation to the ones that have been so good and loyal to them. Show their loved ones they are appreciated and that you love them.
Thanksgiving isn't only just about fun, it's also about being thankful for such a blessed life and bonding closer with family. It's great to be together, and we are lucky to have such an amazing life. We are all thankful for the many years of family and fun in our lives to
Thanksgiving to me means family time and a chains to be thankful for all we have our family, our wonderful country, and all the things we are blessed to have. Every year we go to our Mimi’s and Papa’s for thanksgiving, it is my family, my Mimi and Papa, and my Uncle's family. As soon as you walk through the door you can smell the wonderful aroma of food, and when you walk into the kitchen you can see a table adorned with an abundant amount. Then we all gather around the table and pry as we thank god for all he has given use and then we get our plates so we can serve ourselves. While we are eating we have some comical conversations that makes us laugh, we also talk about what we have been doing.
I’m going to give you an example of my most memorable Thanksgiving. This goes back to four years ago. I believe I was in the seventh grade around this time. Thanksgiving was at my grandmother's house that year. So everyone definitely came for the food. The problem was that my two aunties weren’t getting along at that time. One came up from Florida and the other came up from Jamaica. My aunty Darrett was from Jamaica and my auntie Reds is from Florida. They were my grandma’s sisters. Now imagine being in a house on a holiday with two of your family members not speaking. Once it was time for us to eat we all was
There are many different ways how so spend Thanksgiving. Some people spend Thanksgiving at home doing nothing, some even spend it on the streets. Some people aren't even home with their family, they are serving other people food and helping at food banks so that the people on the streets have food. Most of the people that I know spend it with their families and have a great time. The classmates that I interviewed do the same as well.
What does Thanksgiving mean to me? It would be dishonest of me to say that it is a time where I get to express what or who I am thankful for in my life. I do not think of it as a holiday where I am allowed to eat until I pass out either. In reality, Thanksgiving means time with my family. I do not just mean my parents and my siblings, I mean my whole family. I absolutely adore the fact that I have such an enormous family. Everyone comes home to my grandmother’s house on both sides of the family. Luckily, both of my grandmothers live within a five mile radius of each other. This means, after I spend time with my father’s side of the family, I can drive a couple of minutes to spend a bit of time with my mother’s side of the family. This is the
Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks for all of our rights and the things that we have. We are very thankful to come home every day to a nice home with food and water, some people don’t have the nice things that we have. The rights that I am thankful for as a citizen of this country are the freedom of religion and the freedom of speech.
The Thanksgiving story is taught in classrooms across America. It involves Pilgrims, Native Americans, and a feast. Most Americans observe this day as one of celebration. It is a gathering together of family, friends, and food. But not all people agree that this is the happiest day.
Thanksgiving Holiday means so much to me. I love to celebrate that extended weekend with my family. On the eve of the big day, my cousins and I meet at an elder’s house and then the festivities began. This shared feast started in 1621 with the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians sharing a harvest feast ("Thanksgiving," 2016). A portion of the food can be prepared the day before. We decide who would handle what task and when it time clean up the second generation, always try to make the third generation do it. We then continue to cook and clean and reminisce of our past year. Sometimes we would bring up our childhood pranks and stories of family members that passed and present. On the day of Thanksgiving we finish cooking,
When the great holiday of Thanksgiving comes to mind, most people think of becoming total gluttons and gorging themselves with a seemingly unending amount of food. Others might think of the time spent with family and friends. The whole basis of the holiday is family togetherness, fellowship, and thankfulness for blessings received during the previous year.
Thanksgiving is a very special time of the year. It’s my favorite holiday because you get to see your family and eat some good food. My family gather together to bond and cook a great Thanksgiving meal. We are constantly competing with each other in the kitchen. Here’s how my family and I prepare for Thanksgiving. By the end you want to do some of these things with your family.
Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks to your life and everyone and everything in it. Thanksgiving is thought of in different ways and is celebrated in unlike ways. Families have divergent meals, places that they visit on Thanksgiving, and activities that they enjoy taking part in on Thanksgiving. Overall, no matter what traditions there are, what meals you have, or the activities enjoyed on Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving is truly a wonderful holiday.
Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year. I love seeing the shinny Christmas lights that decorates my street and the sound of fresh fallen snow on the ground. Christmas reminds me of family, the laughter and loved we shared, and the gifts we gave to each other. My house on Christmas became the center of my joy.
