One of the most memorable day was last Thanksgiving Day when I flew to New York to my aunt’s house. The first thing we did when got there was to walk around and go shopping for clothes and prizes for the Thanksgiving Day games we had planned to play. The prizes were for whoever won the game The flight to New York was my first time flying in a plane. I was so scared at first because I have seen how big a plane was before, but I had never been in one before. That was my first time ever being that high off the ground and I had gotten to sit by the window. What made it even scarier, but after a little while I was okay after I got used to it and I was okay. The flight was 14 hours from Miami to New York. I ate pizza and I played

During Thanksgiving Break this year, I went to Flagstaff, Arizona. That was the best memory because I can’t choose one specific one! :) I had so much fun in Arizona, and this is what I did.
The reality of the First Thanksgiving was a great experience. People thought it was not fun and was a little bit of a let down. There were a lot of myths about this First Thanksgiving and how it went. Even what they wore that day. There were many different things that happened at
When I imagine “The First Thanksgiving”, I think of peace and harmony. Then my History complex comes in, I remember all of the rape, cannibalism, and disease spreading that happened in the years before “The First Thanksgiving” ruin my picture perfect scene. The Pilgrims did not have a farming aspect when they came to The New Colony but with the help of the Native Americans they learned how to survive. When I was younger we always were taught that this time, in history, everyone got along and they were happy. The Pilgrims came to have religious freedom and not to be treated as second class citizens. This is a notable act but they had various pathogens that they were immuned to but the Natives were not. Historians say that the pathogens that
Thanksgiving is an American holiday that celebrate the Pilgrim’s successful harvest. The Pilgrims were thankful that they had survived in the New World. At the first Thanksgiving feast, people ate lobster, seal, swan, and deer meat. In modern times, we serve turkey dinners, have family gatherings, and watch football games. Many also donate food to neighbors who don’t have enough two eat. Thanksgiving is an American which is widely celebrated.
While children are growing up in America, they are told several tales of America’s establishment and history. However, these stories are generally not told as they actually happened. An instance of this is the story of the Pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is explained as this elaborate ceremony where the Pilgrims and Indians gathered in harmony at this large harvest in celebration of their coming together. According to the primary document of William Bradford’s journal, Thanksgiving didn’t pan out quite as it is explained to Americans today. In the film, The Addams Family Values, the Addams children take part in a traditional, yet misconceived celebration of the first Thanksgiving. This
When the great holiday of Thanksgiving comes to mind, most people think of becoming total gluttons and gorging themselves with a seemingly unending amount of food. Others might think of the time spent with family and friends. The whole basis of the holiday is family togetherness, fellowship, and thankfulness for blessings received during the previous year.
The children’s reaction to the Christmas gifts sent by their parents was overwhelming sadness. Ditching their attention to the toys themselves, Bailey and Maya felt abandoned and unwanted; their parents had made no effort prior to this to make contact with them. Maya was “confident they were both dead,” imagining her mother lying in a coffin with her hair spawn on a white pillow. She viewed this year’s festivities to be a “terrible Christmas” with its “awful presents.” She found her father vain and expectant to send a photograph of him along with the gifts. Her pain notwithstanding, she went outside by the chinaberry tree in the cold winter air, where she “sat down and cried,” Bailey pursuing her, “wiping his eyes.” The glooming silence
I had never been on an airplane. My stomach felt like I had just eaten rotten fish and I was about to throw up. I was so excited to go, but at the same time I was scared because I had never been on a plane. We waited in the airport for at least an hour. Finally our flight was called, as I walked on the plane my heart was about to jump out of my skin. After the flight attendant had went through all the rules and we put our seat belts on the plane was going to take off. I thought the worst thing about the flight was taking off and landing. I didn?t like taking off and landing because my ears popped. Other than the fact that my ears popped taking off and landing the flight went smooth, we didn?t crash. When the plane landed, I couldn?t wait to stand on solid ground again.
Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season and is one, if not, the largest shopping “holiday” in the United States. Many view it as an integral part of the holiday season, but what they do not realize, it may actually be destroying it. With each new holiday season, sales encroach earlier into the hours of Thanksgiving, and extend for several days after. With this, Thanksgiving becomes nothing but a hurdle for receiving cheap prices, and the holiday season becomes less and less about family and the gratitude for what we already have, but about greed and buying more possessions we do not need.
It is no secret that Thanksgiving is a holiday of many interpretations. Depending on which interest group is being asked, this day of observance can be accompanied by negative or positive connotations. According to its Google definition, Thanksgiving is “an annual national holiday marked by religious observances and a traditional meal including turkey.” Thanksgiving, as described in textbooks across the country, is a national holiday which came to be in Plymouth, Massachusetts during the year of 1621. In its prime, Thanksgiving has been described as “a three-day festival of eating, hunting, and other entertainment in honor of the pilgrims’ first successful harvest,” (History). What history textbooks around the world do not tell you is that these are only miniscule details regarding what the holiday actually commemorates.
For the past few Thanksgivings Sam and Dean had kept it simple. Y’know, kick their feet up and enjoy a few beers, reminiscent of old friends. If Dean was lucky Sam would even go and buy a pie. He liked it that way. Sure it was simple and low key but he liked simple.
This is going to be about the first nerve racking time I rode a plane. It was 3:00 A.M. and I was getting up to go to the the airport. I wasn’t to thrilled that I was getting there that early but, it was worth it. We left for the airport and we first had to go to this parking lot where we left our car while we were on vacation. I was kind of nervous on leaving our car there but as a ride to the airport, we got a limo to the airport. I felt so cool riding to the airport in a limo.
The first time I flew was to the United States. I was 18 years old and had no expectation. While we flew for almost 22 hours there was turbulence. it was a horrifying flight and especially scary. i travelled with a girl that I met at the airport that was going to the same house and job with me. We were from completely different backgrounds and didn’t talk for the 28 hours in total traveling time.
Christmas, a time which many would agree is magical. A time of miracles and gift giving that brings out the best aspects of people. Christmas, is traditionally a twelve-day celebration, but in this country it is officially recognized as December 25, but, the length of the celebration is certainly increasing, unofficially. There is an unspoken rule among society, and especially in regards to retailers that Black Friday signals the start of the Christmas season, at this point Thanksgiving has passed and people can then turn their focus towards the blind consumerism that accompanies Black Friday and the coming season. In recent years however, these unofficial celebrations of Christmas have begun to encroach far beyond that final week of November.
