On the 21st of July 2015 in Minnesota a young teen is charged for murder. On that day, Carlee R. Bollig, 17, had been texting and updating her Facebook while driving with a few friends giving zero concerns as to what was happening around her as she was driving. As she was driving and playing on her phone her very own friends repeatedly told her to get off her phone and pay attention to the road but Mrs. Bollig disregarded her friends and told her friends that she "didn't car if she had crashed" only seconds from the collision. Carlee had ran a red light while on her phone and had charged a minivan with a father and a ten year old girl, Cassy, who was his daughter. Even with 1 simple distraction while driving, people don't understand that not only they are the ones who are in danger but everyone their around is in danger as well because I'm a split second almost anything can happen in a blink of an eye, anything! Tons of people have experienced near death incidents due to texting and driving and have developed a disability. All of them would wish to go back and change it all. Think about it for a second, if you've experienced a car crash and developed a major disability wouldn't you want to go back in time and change everything about what happened that tragic day? No one should have to suffer for mistakes you've made and if you don't want to end up in a certain way the best advice to give is to just make the right choice. Why is it so hard for people to choose the right over wrong? Is it really that hard? Some might not even think about that, some will just risk it all and go with the flow to eventually see what might happen which is not the right move. I’m sure you are all aware of this dangerous act and have at one point in time committed this crime but I ask you to think about the effects and consequences that may follow the next time you reach for your phone while driving.

Driving is a huge example of people getting easily distracted someone might just look at their phone for just a second but people get distracted by the bigger picture which is driving. Teenagers all around the world are getting hurt and some are dying. Many people think that this issue should be stopped for once and for all. Don’t get me wrong, I love having a phone and everything, but I think that when you are driving you should not be on it. There is a time and place for it. But not when you operating a vehicle. Texting and driving drives me insane. One of my biggest pet peeves when I am in the car with someone. Other people think that this issue is not a problem. I think that texting and driving is a very dangerous thing for many reasons. Because it causes many accidents and people are not learning their lesson. These days almost everyone owns a cell phone. Texting has become a worldwide phenomenon and people can’t seem to put their phone down, even when they’re driving. Most states in the US have illegalized texting and driving, but four states are still allowing this to happen. Recently the state of Oregon imposed a new law on the usage of cellular devices whilst driving vehicles. Now if cameras catch people touching their electronic devices whilst driving, then they can receive up to a $500 fine. The law was set to try and prevent car accidents where drivers are distracted using their electronic devices. Because of modern technology people have been using their mobile devices more so distracted drivers was becoming an increasing problem. People sometimes drive like drunk monkeys. Though, this new law also applies when drivers are stopped at traffic lights. This has sparked some debate over whether this is going to far. Some ask, what if we need to reply to an important text or inform someone of their whereabouts? Or if there was an emergency and someone needed to call 911? Could it then lead to more deaths from responders not getting there in time?
