Texas Accounting Career Essay

In 1997, Texas legislature passed a law that all high school seniors were to be accepted to the University of Texas if they finish in the top ten percent of their class. The University of Texas followed this law but found that their student body was becoming less and diverse. Universities believe that having a diverse student is an important part of learning.

After reading the book and drawing lessons from the past, I have learned that if I want to be successful, I must have the clear goals which can keep myself motivated constantly and moving forward towards the attainment of my objects. Therefore, I set the short-term goals for studying in Seneca. I hope I can participate in co-op to have more work experience after the third semester. After graduating from ACF program, I hope I can directly enter the sixth semester of IAF program and prepare for the certificate about accounting. Since IAF program requires a minimum GPA 3.0 and a minimum Grade of B for several courses, I need to get at least Grade of B+ (75%) for all the courses. To achieve my goals, I must “work much, much harder” (Gladwell 39). I will preview the textbooks, highlight the important parts or the parts that I have questions and seek help from my professors. My freshman year at Texas State University was highlighted by making the Dean’s List, receiving the Outstanding Freshman Award, and getting a Resident Assistant position that I am currently fulfilling as I apply to the University of Texas at Austin. Everything I have ever done is tied in with my lifelong goal of being employed by the elite group of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and it all starts at the University of Texas. I have never wanted anything more in my life than to attend this prestigious university where I feel confident that I will be challenged both academically and culturally. Following my high school graduation I plan to study accounting and criminal justice. After looking at many colleges that aren't too far from home, I found that the University of North Texas and Texas Christian University offer good programs for both of these studies. Although I haven't made a final decision on which university I will attend, I know that they both offer adequate academic and extracurricular opportunities.

Ten years from now, I envision myself working a job I love with people I respect in a setting that’s both welcoming and challenging. I wish to learn more about accounting and finance so that I can further my career in hopes of one day opening my own accounting firm. Accounting professionals are in very high demand. The nature of work in accounting is so vast an individual would have so many different areas of accounting to choose from. Accounting requires people who can work with complex business structures, computer systems, and financial analysis packages. Accounting: The number one most popular bachelor degree in America is accounting. An accountant is a trained professional that keeps everything about the business in running order. This may mean anything from book keeping, to following trends in the market, or just simply tax audits. When going after a degree in accounting there is a lot of math, and plain accountant classes involved. Although accounting is the number one degree in demand, it does not even rank in the top 5 for starting salaries.
