1. How would you describe your own temperament? (Do you think you were an easy child, a difficult child, or a slow-to-warm-up child?)
As an infant and toddler, I don’t think that I fell under one temperament category. I spent my infancy and toddler years in a village in the mountains of Mexico. In consequence, I had to deal with poverty, lack of resources, and the absence of my mother for most of those years. For those reasons, I believe that I probably had characteristics from of the temperament categories. My mother had told me that as an infant if she couldn’t find anyone to watch me, she would take me with her to the fields and leave me at the end of her rows and check on me when she made her way back. Hearing these kinds of stories makes me believe that I had to adapt and overcome many different situations depending on my environment at that time. I can compare this to the "goodness-of- fit" theory mentioned in the book on page 189. As an adolescent, I went through some traumas and I would describe myself to be more of a difficult type of temperament.
2. How stable has your temperament been over the course of your development (Do you believe that your personality today is similar to your temperament as a child)?
Because of my changing environment’s as I developed, I would consider my temperaments to be unstable. For example, I started

I believe I was also a very resilient child having to deal and overcome many hardships. Because I had to deal abuse, lack of mother-daughter bonding, and other hardships I developed many protective factors to overcome these circumstances. The disadvantages to the mixture of temperament’s with predominately difficult style; are the repercussions I have had and that I continue to deal with today. In consequence, I fear that I will not be able to parent my future children in a healthy manner because I was never shown a healthy
We learned that the child temperament is not only a result from environment (nurture), but also heredity (nature). The parenting style of Suzy’s parents would be an example of
With the use of the Keirsey Temperament Sorter – II, I was categorized as a guardian, and the results of the test were impressively accurate. I pride myself on being dependable, helpful, and hardworking. While I do enjoy leisure time with my peers, I become more serious when dealing with my duties and responsibilities. I tend to focus on credentials and traditions, and I can be highly meticulous about schedules and following proper procedures. Although change can be healthy and beneficial, I go about it cautiously. These aspects of who I am strongly influence my decision-making process. I have always been described as an optimist because I am determined to find the positive aspects in all things. This, however, does not prohibit my skepticisms. Whether I am deciding on what to eat or where and how to spend my money, I am consistent in weighing out my options and determining all possible outcomes and consequences. This cautiousness is often mistaken for indecisiveness, but I agree entirely with the statement that, in the end, it is better to be safe than to be
Test Results Analysis & Preferences Alignment After reviewing the Keirsey temperament report, I agree that the results are an accurate representation of my personality, and shows through my role as a mother, registered nurse, and as a Patient Flow Supervisor in a Children’s hospital. I take pride in being a dependable hard worker, harmonious team player, and view myself as being loyal and trustworthy to my family, friends and colleagues. I am a single mother and ensure that my son’s needs are met; that I participate in his school activities; and ensure that we have our quality time.
Around people I could be a very moody person. But it could've been chalked up as just a part of my personality. I say this because I could also be funny and sometimes even cheery. One time I remember wearing my "big corporation magazines still suck" shirt to a photo shoot for the Rolling Stones. Another I had went around with a white dress and mustache and posed for
When being a kid you change personalities a lot, but me I have not. I’ve been a ESTJ (extraverted, sensing, thinking, judging) person my whole life. I think being a ESTJ really describes me well. Being a ESTJ means you are a joiner, you also like being the authority, they are very out spoken people too. These things describe me perfectly. I love being in power, I also let people hear what's on my mind. I love joining in on things too.
According to David Keirsy Please Understand Me Character and Temperament Types my temperament is ISFJ the guardian and the protector. As an ISFJ person I tend to be dependable, and a great care taker. My temperament profile seem valid to me. For example when I’m needed to something whether its last minute or I have sufficient time to do it I will get the job done with no hesitation. The one thing about the temperament that is wrong is that I’m not dependable with my time. You can count on me as being late all the time. If someone asks me to do something for them I get the job done on time. I procrastinate about the things that I need to do on my own, but with other I’m on time. Time management is my biggest issue. I have to learn how to delegate my time. The part of the temperament that says that I am a protector is me all the way. I will go out of my way to help my students or any person in need.
What is temperaments and how is it formed? Temperament is the way a person or in this matter a child or infant would behave or react to an event or their environment (Cook & Cook, 2014). A temperament is formed by nature and nurture, all thought an infant is born with an “innate tendency” the temperament will form as the infant parents reinforce this temperament (Cook & Cook, 2014). Some infants are born more sociable, and others might be shy and even afraid of most things (Cook & Cook, 2014). Everyone needs to feel accepted, and children are not far behind, is important they feel accepted even if their temperament “isn’t easy to handle” or just a breeze temperament (Zerotothree, 2010). A child’s temperament and personality can be a something they have inherited from the infants’ parents, but the environment where the infant grows is just as important as the genetics (Cook &
Temperament is defined as the individual behavioral style of the child, the way in which he characteristically reacts to environmental stimuli. Temperament is distinct from the child’s innate abilities and motivation. Their are nine temperament traits; activity being the first which is based on the level of motor component in a child’s functioning, rated as regular, variable, or irregular. I would rate myself as moderate. I prefer to be independent; I rather do a task myself so that I don't have to watch someone else do it. I also don't like to be confined I prefer to explore the areas and things that surround me. Rhythmicity being the second temperament trait is all about the regularity or predictability in the timing of recurrent activities, rated as regular, variable, or irregular. Regular best describes me because I stick to a routine everyday and if it is changed I have a very hard time dealing with it. I eat the same thing everyday and at the same time everyday. I wake up every morning at the same time, but I fall asleep at different times depending on what I did that day. And lastly I have a difficult time adjusting to different time zones whenever I go away on vacation. The Approach/Withdrawal is the third temperament it is about the nature of a child's response to a new stimulus, rated as approach, variable, or withdrawal. Withdrawing child best fits me; it takes me awhile to warm up to new things, I'm cautious with new people, things and places. I prefer to surround
I know that they thought I was really relaxed because Ricky and Erika told me that I was very relaxed when I spoke to my group. Also another reason I felt that they thought I was emotionally stable was when I told them I was still in high school and taking high school classes they freaked out and started to make jokes about me not stressing out such as: ‘’How are you not losing hair from all those classes?’’ or ‘’How are you not going crazy?’’ 2) Extraversion: I feel that my group thought I did very good in the extraversion trait. I was able to talk for the whole minute. I talked about some of my hobbies and about my family also. They did not seem to get bored or uninterested when I was talking. For example when I told them about how I like to go snowboarding on the weekends they all nodded their heads and made small comments such as; “cool’’ or ‘’nice.’’ 3) Conscientiousness: Overall I feel that my group thought I did lousy on this trait. While I was talking I paused all lot to think about on what I was going to say next and when I said I feel they thought I was careless on what I had to say. For example when I told them about my family and how big it was, my group members had expressions like they were surprised I would tell them so carelessly. 4) Agreeableness: I think my group thought I did excellent on this trait. When I would smile to my group
The purpose of this paper is to discuss characteristics of my personality. The main focus of this paper will be how my personality has developed over time. As I age and encounter new and different experiences, my personality has adapted and developed further. This paper will give an in-depth exploration into the people and events that have influenced my personality.
I think ok, what makes me the person I am today I think of all the hardships and obstacles I have been through in my life. Even though I have been through a great ordeal it has caused me to become a stronger person, the obstacles I have faced throughout my life have given me motivation, and taught me reliablility, and responsibility. When asked about my personality, I also think of the activities that I love to do as well as my actions during my school career, in my free time I like to organize, read, help people, as well as hang out with my friends. When it comes to my school work I am very conscientious, diligent, and ambitious. If I get even a C on a test or in a class I get upset with myself and think what I could’ve done differently to receive a better grade. In my free time back home I used to babysit and tutor young children and it made me feel so good about myself because I made a difference in their life and helped them excel in the classroom. So if I could describe my personality, I would say that I am a motivated, reliable, responsible, organized, fun, intelligent, ambitious, loving and caring
Spirt Controlled Temperament by Tim LaHaye gets more in to detail about your weakest temperament and your strongest temperament. There is twelve chapters all describing our temperaments. We all have a temperament, simple as that. We most likely get our temperament traits from our grandparents. Which is kind of scary for me, because my grandparents are crazy on both sides. But, through the grace of God our temperaments can change, and for me that is a true blessing. There are four temperaments types; sanguine, choleric, melancholy, and phlegmatic. The sanguine are “enjoying”, choleric are very active and strong-willed, melancholy are self-sacrificing and emotional, and phlegmatic are the easy-going temperaments. Each one of these
Personality development is a multifaceted concept it’s motivated by genetics, society, education and familial contributions. I have been called many things in regards to my personality aggressive, domineering, honest and opinionated but personally very few hold true. Without question I can admit I am honest but even more than that I am independent and loud. Aspects of my personality have been heavily influenced by not only my family and social relationships. My personality shaped me into the person that I am motivating me to keep being honest with people and going into the mental health field. Being able to keep people the truth with the right delivery and knowing when to be loud solidified my chosen career path.
I’m a quiet person. I’ve always been a quiet person, even in my past life. The life I had before this new one. Though I was a pretty normal person I would say. I knew Heartbreak and teenage fever just like any other teen.
Similarly, one reason Carson’s temperament could be parallel to my own is the concept of passive gene-environment correlation. This is the idea that parents pass on genes to their child and consequently create an environment that enhances these characteristics (Price, Jaffee, 2008). A 2008 study investigating the effects of passive gene-environment correlation defines it as children “inheriting exposure to family environments” (Price, Jaffee, 2008). For instance, if I was
