He had developed friendships in his job, but his co-workers said that he hardly tried to develop any outside relationships with them. During the Dahmer trial, Dahmer confessed he used two films for inspiration Return of the Jedi and The Exorcist 3. The reason he gave in his confession was “using the films to get himself in the proper mood to go out and cruise for a victim…” (“Jeffrey Dahmer - Full Trial – Serial Killer”). A man who loved the spotlight could also be a murderer on the inside. An example of this kind of man would be Ted Bundy. Ted Bundy was a man of good looks, charm, smarts, and ambition. He had all he needed to become anything he wanted to be. Bundy chose to use his traits and skills to murder as many as 40 young women and girls as young as 12 years old during the mid 1970s. Bundy did live a semi-normal childhood when compared to Dahmer, for he did not have to endure a heavy family dispute and did not develop a drinking problem early in his life. The reason Bundy was believed to have snapped was “Many of his early victims bore a physical resemblance to Bundy's first girlfriend, who was tall and slender and wore her long brown hair with a part in the middle” (Lohr). Bundy had a rough split with his first girlfriend one he would always consider his first love. Ted Bundy was not his original name, according to Lohr, “Bundy was born Theodore Robert Cowell on November 24, 1946, in Burlington, Vermont” (par. 3). However, Bundy’s father wanted nothing to do with him and his mother, so they moved to Philadelphia to live with his mother’s parents. Bundy’s grandparents, out of fear that their daughter would be criticized for having a bastard child, raised Bundy as their own. This left him to believe that his mother was actually his older sister. This could have been one of the factors of converting Bundy into a serial killer. Bundy’s mother eventually moved them to Tacoma, Wash., in 1950. It was there she met and married a military cook by the name of Johnnie Culpepper Bundy. From that point on Ted Cowell was known as Ted Bundy, a name that became a part of many bone chilling stories. Another factor for Bundy snapping to a personality to that of a serial killer was his childhood bullies he had to deal with. Bundy was an intelligent man his academic accomplishment
