Technology Ruining Our Kids Today?

I would have to say that technology is ruining children's lives. The more new things come up the more lazy we get. I would have to say that having a phone is very distracting, but I am able to stay off of it. Not many kids have grown up to be on electronics, but now every kid in the US has some type of device that distracts them from going outside. Not many people tell their kids that they need to go outside and to be active. More and more kids now a days are lazy and don’t do anything. So many kids think that they can function while on the internet, but in reality they can’t. For example, my brother thinks that he will die if he doesn’t get to play his video games. My mother only allows him to play for an hour and only if he has his homework

In these modern times it is no secret that computer technology has become part of our everyday lives. Being an 18 year old kid now I still remember when I was in grade school I didnt have half of the technology these kids have now. It is almost getting out of hand what 10 year old kid needs a iphone and a smart watch. My own nephews are 3 and 4 and they wont put down there tablets ever. They go into screaming fits if you take it away from them.

Technology has brought us nothing more than negativity toward people. The first effect is health. technology affects individuals' exercises; so children become lazier and are most likely not motivated to work out. Along these lines, numerous health issues like obesity are brought about by the effects of technology. The second impact is communication. Ironically children don't have the chance to socialize with each other in person. They’re wasting their time using electronics instead of exploring the world and developing human nature. In addition, individuals lean toward using communication devices than collaborating in person.

Although society has been spoiled in many ways by technology,some may argue an apposing position. Technology comes with many conveniences, but there are also many shortcomings with it. In many ways it could actually be ruining society. The main question is when does the line become crossed between using technology as a convenience and abusing it to the point that it hinders society. The following argument will point it out.

With a flip of a switch or press of a button, Parents can have their child entertained for hours on end. Televisions and Tablets are the twenty-first century babysitters. The average child spends an astounding 7.5 hours per day on some form of technology (Rowan 2), when the recommend allotted amount of time should be no more than two hours (Kaneshiro 1). Technology is rapidly evolving, making limitless possibilities available for entertainment. This virtual “babysitter” enables the parents to devote all their time and effort into their work or engross in technology with limited amounts of distraction from the children. Although, the parents are able to have free time, excessive amounts of screen time is proven to be detrimental to their child’s health and overall well-being. The technology that is drastically making life easier is a big blessing, but at the same time is a big curse.

Does technology in the classroom have a brutal effect on students and teachers? We have all grown up using technology for school; whether using PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, staying up-to-date with assignments using twitter, sending a photograph of your answers to a friend, or to sending a text message to your parents telling them to bring you your assignment that you, unfortunately, left at home. At one point or another I am positive most of you have done one if not all. Even if you use the technology for all the right reasons such as researching, writing papers, or finishing assignments; it may not actually be helping you learn.
