In all honesty, my growth in academics have also reflected my perspective on the type of person that I want to be someday. For instance, throughout this entire year, I have progressed the type of person that I want to be in the near future and my ability to become an empowered learner has improved drastically. Knowing that my junior year is one of the most important years in high school, I have set high standards for myself and had applied self discipline on myself as well in order to maintain my path to success. With that being said, not only has self discipline and setting high standards for myself allow me to concentrate more this year, but it has also allowed me to develop a variety of interests and talents as well. Interests such as majoring in film and theater and also helping others have originated once I joined …show more content…
The form of knowledge that I had gained only by working these different positions for each school event have been useful inside and outside of school knowing that I have some familiarity on how to move props, adjusting sound at any time, knowing how microphones work and how they should be placed on an actor or actress, and also being responsible for the task that I am given when I am a part of house crew, in which I monitor that each person in the audience have a playbill and that no one sneaks inside the theater without a verification of them purchasing a ticket for the school event that they are attending to. The tasks that I have been given in Tech crew throughout this year will apply to the development of the type of person that I want to be knowing that my level of responsibility and maturity will increase each year and also accomplishing a task that someone will tell me later on in the near
By helping with our school musical in being a part of the control room academy, I believe that I will be able to apply some of the skills that I have learned to my work as a theatre artist in the future. Working as a crew in the control room gave me the opportunity to learn the technical devices as well as working collaboratively with members whom I have never worked before. Usually, Mr. Zarate gives me something to do such as turning on all the sound box that is located in the control booth, bringing the camera and taking photos of the musical, checking if the sound of the microphone is working well and more. In order to make the musical successful, I do those things so that others do not have to spend their time when they need to do some
In seventh and eighth grade I ran cross country, played basketball, and ran track. By participating in those activities, I was able to become better friends with my teammates. By my eighth grade year I was starting to get more serious about my grades and my education as a whole. Once I began high school, I signed up for honors classes, and grades became more competitive. During my freshman year I continued to run cross country, join the golf team, and participated in the fall production and one-act
Each grade (whether middle school, high school, or college) should help you discover a new goal for yourself. Some teachers will be there to assist you in taking new measures and pushing yourself to higher limits and some won’t. I, unfortunately, had a teacher who didn’t. Her name was Mrs. Orr and all we did in her class was read short stories such as Gilgamesh and Beowulf and write worksheets on them.
I am Connie Alarcon a junior at Valley High School and my growth both personally and academically this school year has been one of the most mentally exhausting years of my life. This year truly made me mentally stronger, as well as changed me as a person and displayed academic growth in me , it taught me valuable things that I know will help me in the future. What this year truly taught me that i will forever value and always try to remember as I go through life is that at the end of the day I will be the only one who cares enough and has to fight for the future I want, nobody else will be able to fight for my future the one I want as much as I can and will.
With this being a Project Based Learning project, students may need to modify or rehearse the script, create the backdrops and props, choose the music, make the playbill, etc. Arts plays a major role in the success of students and their education. When students develop a broad range of social and organizational skills, it can strengthen their ability to pursue anything in their academic careers. Students will learn to take control and be their own boss. They are in charge of making sure the sets are designed properly, the scripts are analyzed and brainstorming with the other students. The reason why this is a great project is that some people may only want to be on the building crew, others may want to do tech support, while others will be doing the acting. Even still, they will all need to familiarize themselves with the reading, re-writing, creating background stories for their characters, etc. The biggest life skill learned will undoubtedly is with working with so many different people and their personalities. When you are a part of production, you realize that there are no small parts – without each other, the show won’t go on! Students learn to support each other, filling in learning gaps, and solve problems together. They learn to act as leaders in group situations. They learn to take on challenges in a
My junior year, especially the summer following, became a pivotal period in my life. I obtained many new responsibilities and participated in many different experiences that shaped me closer to the person I seek to become as an adult. I had recently earned my driver’s license, which required months of hard work and commitment. I then began my first job, working the front desk providing customer service at my community pool and additionally took on a leadership role by volunteering in my local community. These responsibilities helped me to develop new life skills.
In Seventh grade, I was starting a new high school and was able to be carefree. I was able to slack off and get away with it. During my Seventh grade year, I was a happy. I was able to strive for straight A’s and still be stress free. I made new friends that understood me and I kept my friends close by. It was satisfying to know the environment around me and know my surroundings. As the years went by, I still continued to take the easy path. I wanted an easygoing school year where I didn’t have stress on my plate. Now, in my junior year of highschool, I have a bunch load of work and stress. Since I had reached high school, I needed more of a challenge. I needed something that would allow me to improve myself and become better. My parents had always told me that education was the key to a happy life. Receiving good grades and doing well would bring me happiness in the future. I had strived to become better and going through the many challenges that appeared was one of the obstacles that I had to
I’m a sophomore in college, I attend Syracuse University, and this year was the year I became very busy and involved on campus. My first year at Syracuse University was eventful, however now as I right this essay, I can only foresee that there’s going to much more ahead of me as I continue my education and reach for my goals. I consider myself a dreamer, and an ambitious one at that. When I set my mind to something there’s no doubt that it’ll get done or happen. While last year I was on the deans list twice – and plan to be on it again this year, wrote a major article for a campus magazine, and volunteered for a mentor organization, I felt like there was a lot more I could and should be doing.
My freshmen year, I have many goals that I would love to achieve. Now that I am in high school, sports are more important than in middle school. Being watched by recruiters and making it to state are both possibilities in high school. However, grades come before everything, and graduating with a 4.0 G.P.A., could mean scholarships to many school. I will have to take my studies more seriously because what happens now, could determine my future. Even though this year is going to be hard for me, I am going to achieve my goals by keeping focus on them and work hard until I accomplish them. My goals this year are to be healthier, excel in sports, and finish freshmen year with a 4.0 GPA.
It is unbelievable that I will be a senior next year and will be graduating. Currently as a junior, it seems like these past three years have significantly contributed to my development. When I first arrived at Waverly High School, I knew little of many skills that were needed to be a successful student. Having parents that were from a foreign country who didn’t speak English as their primary language and being the oldest sibling, it made it difficult for me to get help during challenging times in school. However, this complication assisted me by improving my communication skills. Because I wasn’t able to get much help from my parents, I started to interact with many of my peers, teachers, counselors, and others in my
Every year brings new memories, friends and standards accomplished. This year there is a lot I want to achieve both academically and out of school. For example I want to be more organized, which is a goal for both school and home. That includes keeping my binders and folders uncluttered, and remembering to bring any and all homework home. Another, more educational based goal is to be more prepared for tests and quizzes by being more smart when and how I study, and writing down when they are going to happen in my agenda. Finally I want to participate more in class, whether that be answering questions, or turning in all of my work.
Currently, as a junior, I feel that the past three of high school have tremendously shaped my character. Arriving at the doorsteps of Manatee High School, I knew little of leadership, or service. To me, high school was and still is a journey. I've learned to give back to those who have helped me. Through various extracurricular activities, I've not only learned to be a team member, but a leader as well.
I believe I've grown as a student for skills for Academic Success because ,when I started 9th grade at Vaughn I was not happy with the grade I got. I had very poor grammar. I always tried my best to get a good grade or at least a better grade then the one I had. Now I believe I improve my grades and skills for Academic Success because there was stuff I didn't understand. When I started Vaughn I didn't know that is freshman had to have 130 reading points. When I heard that I started reading books ,didn't really concentrate because I was not use to reading but now I finish a book and move on to the next one.
My short term goal is to make straight A's by the end of this semester. I will try really hard to study and get better at reading. I have all Pre-AP classes. So, this year is going to be challenging to me but I have faith in myself. Like my mother always said "Always believe in yourself!" And i'm hoping to make more friends this year because there is a lot of new people in high school. I want to be more social with my friend and interact with them more. My long term goal is that after I graduate in the class of 2020 I hope to become a wealthy doctor one day! But my career i'm aiming for is to be an
To summarize I feel that I have grown theoretically over the course of my undergrad; I realize that I have only scratched the surface. I have so much still to learn and being involved at so many different levels provides me with endless opportunities to continue to grow. I believe that this growth will enable me to be a more
