In contrast, the Human, with an IM of only 69 serves as the lowest percentage of the examples given, and this instead serves to demonstrate that their upper limbs are shorter than their lower limbs. This difference in limb length between the Gibbon and the Human is significant because it helps to show how species are adapted to best fit the environments

Introduction Evolution distinguishingly changed how primates and humans live and survived according to their environments. For this reason, we are analyzing the relationships between Diet Quality, Tooth Shape, and Daily Travel Distance in primates and humans. These aspects respectively related to one another in humans, fossil hominins, and other primates. In humans, our tooth shape reflects how we eat in our diet quality. Most humans today eat meat, which sculpts our molars to be much smaller compared to other primates.

Joseph Henrich began, A Puzzling Primate, by describing how physically inept human beings are when compared to the rest of the animal kingdom. He continues with this logic when he demonstrates, that humans in this era, would not be able to survive if placed in the wild forest environment. Due to the biological weakness of humans, culture became a necessary defense mechanism and a form of protection. Culture became a unique way for humans to adapt. Despite the obvious physical weakness of humans, through culture we have rose to be the dominant species.

In precocial species the mobile young animal needs to quickly identify its caregiver and remain close to them for survival. This is known as imprinting. There are many similarities and differences in primate species.The ones I chose to focus on today was the Philippine tarsier, Mandrill and the gibbon. What made me choose these non- human primates so interesting was the uniqueness and appearance of each primate. I plan to explain the similarities of their teeth structure and purposes and the similarities of their diet and feeding and also the differences of their behaviors.

We will also be looking at three different research studies focusing on mandrills, chimpanzees and capuchins which will give us a better understanding of how primates make tools. Giving each gorilla a name, Fossey helped us almost humanize the animals through her vivid descriptions of their personality and behavior. She showed us that gorilla mothers protect, care for, and discipline their infants. Gorilla babies develop much the same ways humans do; acquiring skills as they age. Adolescents can be just as curious as they are mischievous. Fossey's work helps replace the image of the gorilla as a ferocious animal into one that is kind, gentle, and more human-like that we had never known.
