Maya Angelou once said, "You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it." Being opulent doesn't necessarily guarantee a happy life, especially as a parent, the struggles are still the same, and the pain never changes. This quote can also relate the Amanda's situation, because she seemed to be struggling as a parent of seven children, although she had plenty of money that she could use to her out.

Technically, it was against the law for women in her religion to dress the way she dressed. She was a Muslim. Following her husband’s footsteps, her family didn’t approve of her choice nor liked her husband. For that reason, she was moved away from them and was told not to come near or contact them. I actually wasn't allow to approach her because of the rumor that she was a witch who took the life of her grandchildren and her husband. The poor lady seemed lonely each and every day. With no one to talk to, she sat on the front porch in her rocking chair, sewing different items such as quilts, blankets, and baby beanies. One day, I was heading over to the little shop called Boutique, and I saw her sitting on her front porch as usual. I glanced at her, and she smiled at me. I felt like walking over to her, but I was scared of the punishment I was going to face when my parents found out. I went back home, and luckily my parents weren't there, since it was Saturday night, and usually everyone was out and about doing their own thing. An opportunity of meeting with her was right in front of me, and since my parents weren't there physically, I felt the need to approach her and to get to know her personally. Her eyes brightened with joy when I asked her if I could sit next to her. "Yes Princess", she said pleasantly with a smile. "Did your parents send you here or did you just sneak out?" she asked as she continued crocheting the little beanie. "Actually, they are not home right now, but please don't tell them," I begged her. She nodded then asked me what brought me over and if I needed something. I told her that I had some questions I needed answered, to help me understand why all the neighbors had so much hate towards her. I was curious to know what happened to her husband and to her two children that had just passed away two days after we had moved in. It
