Every movement starts with one person. One person's thought or ideas could greatly be affected by their surroundings or peers. If one person starts a act of kindness the kindness will spread. Same with hate, if an individual is mean and cruel it could contribute to others behaving in the same matter. Specifically if one person feels or says negatively about a certain population then others could follow their bad example.
Racisms itself is defined as prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior. Somehow white people “owning” black people gave them some type of authority over this “group” of people. According to the Constitution, the thirteenth amendment reads as follows: "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. In 1865 Lincoln passed this amendment to abolish slavery. People thought that that would just be the end of discussion, slavery is banned let's move on with our lives. However that was not the case. The racism carried over, although slavery was banned, people still were disgustingly rude and hateful toward these people just because their skin pigment was different. People would attack blacks, make them leave stores or get up from their seat so a white folk could take the spot. Terrible things happened to them. They received no equal services, lowpaying job, & poor to no education. Finally the 14th amendment addresses citizenship rights and equal protection of the laws, and was proposed in response to issues related to former slaves.The 15th gave black males the right to vote. Things were slowly becoming normal for them. They have came a long way from being someone's slave, where animals are treated better than you to becoming a real person in the community, earing rights that they should have had from the start.
