Even though FEMA has made progress, there is additional work needed in several areas. The response of the storm exposed challenges in how FEMA coordinated Federal agencies, State officials, and preparing and deploying it staff. For example, “difficulties with issuing mission assignment in a timely manner, implementation of incident management structures, and meeting the needs of survivors during the response phase” are some of the challenges that FEMA’s Sandy after action report identified. There were also challenges with delivering disaster relief and services to the seniors and individuals with disabilities trapped in public housing (U.S. Department of Homeland Security, 2013). The report revealed that FEMA had not worked with other federal
Randi G. Fine once said, “When we don’t allow others to suffer the consequences of their actions we cripple them emotionally. We deprive them of the ability to learn from their mistakes. We also take away their ability to overcome their problems and change their life for the better.” As Fine states here, if one does not receive discipline, they may never be able to recover from future circumstances. If Cal did not have such an immense influence on Scout, Scout could have gotten into many predicaments.

Promotions such as giveaways, ticket discounts, raffles, etc. are a good way to attract fans. I would also highlight these promotions on Facebook and Twitter for all of my followers to see. Using the media is also a good use of traditional marketing because it is free. The media outlets can inform fans and potential fans about the upcoming events. This is a free and easy way for the program to spread information to the public.
Collaboration involves various groups or groups of people working together to accomplish a desired outcome. It is a bit like teamwork. By strengthening connections during an emergency crisis, you have the ability to be more effective, faster, produce more, and have more personnel available. Collaboration offers more innovation and experience to a situation. This paper will discuss the roles of those that were involved in the collaborative efforts of FEMA. The basic reasoning for this paper is to provide knowledge and understanding the experience of emergency management and collaboration that took place during Hurricane Sandy.
As the Assistant Administrator of National Preparedness with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (F.E.M.A.) when Super Storm Sandy made landfall on October 29, 2012, in New Jersey it brought with it storm surges of more than 11 feet, killing more than 100 people (including 43 in New York of which 34 occurred in Queens and Staten Island), destroying or damaging thousands of homes, and leaving more than 8 million people without power.

The ailments that our textbook mentions, like heart disease, diabetes, and HIV/Aids (p. 425), are more common among non-white minority populations than they are among whites. This rings true at least a little to me—one of our family friends, a very friendly mom with about 50% Native American heritage, has diabetes. (I've also known a white boy that has diabetes, so I guess that evens out my experience... unless I just interact more with white people.) Being a racial minority, according to our textbook, means one is at higher risk of contracting or being affected by certain illnesses. I know from biology class that people of African descent are at greater risk of developing sickle cell anemia. This may be related to social factors (as a sociologist
Japanese counterparts have been able to remain out of these lifetime benefits, as they haven 't been around that long in the United States, therefore avoiding these extensive legacy costs, which were implemented immediately after World War II. Further these Japanese producers formed their own in house labor unions away from the super powerful UAW overpricing and belligerence.
I was able to successfully create and follow through on the marketing plans for the following four events: Parsing Charms and Romancing Sameness Exhibit, 25 Years of Alleys and Ruins Reception, Geometric Paper Wall Art Workshop, and Picture Frame Corner Wreath Workshop. I did this by creating contests and planned social media posts including videos and live content. I even created and planned a Halloween event with the goal of increasing awareness of the UC Events and gaining followers and engagement on social media platforms. These are of course smaller versions of the marketing plans I will create in the future, but it helped me to think creatively and within a timeframe to complete the plan on time. I also had to make sure it was feasible to accomplish based on the UC’s resources and timeframe.
