The author uses very suspenseful and serious tones throughout this graphic novel. These tones emphasize the suspense and mystery as Batman worked to reveal Holiday's true identity. Now, the tones became even more intense at certain points like when Batman talked to Calendar Man because, with his clues, he'd come so close to discovering the truth. As far as imagery goes, this is a graphic novel, so most details were right in front of us. However, the great, ionic images did allow us to see the character's emotions and connect their emotions to what was occurring at that point in the story like when Batman was fighting with The Joker on the plane. Batman's clenched teeth showed his stern struggle and seriousness while The Joker's evil grin showed
“Somewhere, a Long, Happy Life Probably Awaits You” (Jill Sexsmith) and “Batman and Robin Have an Altercation” (Stephen King) both share a common trait between each of the two stories that revolve around a mentally ill family member. The two stories each follow in accordance with Tzvetan Todorov’s Theory of Narrative. They each begin with an equilibrium and after a disruption, they fall into an offset of the balance of the story. The characters then recognize the problem and take action to restore the initial balance that had previously existed. In “Somewhere,”, theory of narrative is portrayed through a man and his mentally ill wife. The author uses two stories, one about the man’s wife and another about the tree on their front lawn that coincide to develop a path that follows the Todorov’s theory. Batman follows the story of a man and his father who has Alzheimer’s disease. This short story follows a day with the man’s father to convey Todorov’s theory.
In today’s time and age, I don’t think we will come across anyone, who is oblivious of the legendary pair of a hero and a villain; batman and the joker. Those who haven’t read the comics, must have watched at least a few of the movies that are based on these characters. Batman is seen as the hero. The joker is seen as a villain. There are a lot of variations in the stories involving these two as it has been incarnated a lot times, but their characters remain the same. The relationship between these two is a representation of “yin-and-yang”.
So when there's a tap on my shoulder it makes me jump. I spinned around a became face to face with the notorious Dark Knight of Gotham. His face was set into a permanent scowl making him look terrifying. Batman had a sense of sadness that floated around him like he seen hell with his own eyes.
From this point on Batman reflects the characteristics of The Woodward as he focuses all of his energy into being a warrior and stopping the joker. The Batman has a dramatic fight with the joker and eventually captures him alive. However, The joker has a manic laugh when he finally looks Batman in the eye and reveals that he sees this night as a victory. The Joker is proud as he boasts of his greatest achievement. He claims “I took Gotham's white knight
In this dissertation I will discuss how DC Comics have developed and improved the design of their comic books since their establishment in 1937. I will compare comics from past and present and talk about the different styles of comic books that have been released from the company. I will also talk about how the artwork from the comic books have influenced character and costume design in recent DC Comic films. I will do this by studying the history of the company and researching the designers behind the comic books. I will thoroughly research in detail the characters and the designs of their costume and equipment and compare them to the different films that have been released over the years. The main character I will look into is Batman. I will study the origins of the character, the man behind the character, the reason behind Batman’s creation, how he has changed over the years, the development of other characters in the series, the famous villains that Batman has had to face, the different costumes he has had over the years and I will also be researching and studying how Batman has become a national icon in American society, and the effects the character has had on people living in the country. Batman
Batman is depicted as dark and mysterious and for a while people didn't know whether he was good or evil. Some film techniques used are things like dark lighting and generally low angles. Batman also only really comes out at night to make him more mysterious. To make him darker he only wears black and all his tools and vehicles are black or grey. The music and dialogue will also be discussed.
The main conflicts in the world of The Dark Knight Returns revolve around escalating crime in Gotham city and forces of the authority attempting to control it. The authority should be a moral force and represent justice. The figures that represent the authority should be selfless and work only to promote the integrity of law and order. Authority proves to be contradictory in Miller’s novel as the authoritative figures express qualities of vigilantism and overall moral ambiguity.

Batman and the Joker are an iconic duo that need each other to continue the lives that they live. The third motif throughout the movie is a the minor but pertinent theme of romance thrown into the thrill seeking movie. There is good and bad in everyone, and the right situation will show a person's true colors. The inmates on the boat play a key example of this. One of the inmates on the boat takes the detonator and throws it out the window instead of blowing up the other boat.
A Batman Comparison The two movies chosen were Batman and The Dark Knight. The character to analyze is Bruce Wayne/Batman. The analyzation will be on the interactions between characters and the actor’s portrayal of Bruce Wayne and Batman. The first movie, Batman, shows the beginning of the constant battles between the Joker and Batman.
When comics were first coming out, they were not all that popular but in todays’ world, they have become very popular and well known. Several of these comics have been turned into films, which is one of the many reasons why the popularity has been rising over the years. One of the most well known comics is Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. This comic was composed and released in 1986 by Frank Miller. With the usage of Frank Miller’s powerful, intense lines and the artwork done by Klaus Janson’s and Lynn Varley’s it has elevated this comic up to the very top of mainstream comics. In Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, the skillful illustrations on the pages successfully create the thought that there are underlying meanings, which makes the atmosphere a very intense one throughout the comic. The work of art that is presented on the pages in this comic are embedded in such a way that the pages become the continuum for the meaning. One of the main themes that are imbedded on the pages through the artwork in this book is the ideological struggle between Bruce Wayne and Batman.
They are portrayed through Wayne’s first person narration which is where most of the visual and mental content comes from in the scene, all of which is almost inexistent during the scene in the animated version. Instead of slowly uncovering something else Batman was feeling during that scene through his first person narration, all that was compressed and saved for when Wayne is on the ground scolding himself. The original scene was filled with emotional and narrative context and when compared to the brief scene from the movie, which still makes its point, the comic simply blows the movie out of the
1938 saw the first appearance of Batman. More of a mystery comic than a superhero comic book, Batman was inherently different from the pure and clean Superman. He was a gritty and depressing character that has been able to remain in print even to this day. Rather than using superpowers, Batman uses detective abilities that allowed him to solve cases and find perpetrators. (“The History of Comic Books.” TheComicBooks.com.) But not even Batman, Superman, or even Captain Marvel could brace themselves for the arrival of the Marvel comics.
Last night I watched the latest episode of one of my favorite shows, Gotham, which shows the backstories of all the characters from Batman. If you don't like spoilers, I suggest that you don't continue reading.
Batman is one of the many fictional superheroes which appears in the “American comic books” that is published by the DC comics. The character is a secret identity for Bruce Wayne, the only heir to Wayne Enterprises. Bruce Wayne swore an oath of vengeance when he witnessed the death of his parents;Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne (Diamond, 2015). Bat man combats criminals in Gotham: a fictional city, with assistance from various characters, for example, his butler Alfred and Gordon; Gotham city police commissioner. Unlike many of the superheroes characters, Batman possesses no powers .Bruce Wayne trained himself intellectually and physically .it is from dedication to training he possessed the useful traits of physical prowess, martial arts skills, detective skills and indomitable will to fight for justice. Though his motive is to combat crime and protect people of Gotham city from criminals, the justice system in most of the times views Batman as a villain and vigilante. He can inflict fear to Gotham city criminals thereby bringing calmness to the city. I identify myself with the Batman character through his selfless will for justice, his strong determination to do good
