In Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s “Fantastic Four” issue one, the comic emphasizes the significance of working together in a team, regardless of whatever personal differences or opinions the members may have. They highlight the importance of uniting together to achieve a common goal and being reliable within the team. These moral characteristics were ranked highly among the children, with a significant correlation between the children’s own morals and of the Fantastic Four’s (Martin 246). Young boys tend to identify themselves with superheroes, who share their main values, which include doing what they think is right and to be counted on doing their part in a group (Martin 247): all values that the Fantastic Four demonstrates. A standard hero “embodies what we believe is best in ourselves. A hero is a standard to aspire to as well as an individual to be admired” (Miczo 4). The displays of these superheroes emerged as the characters underwent certain transformations, experiences of growth in empathy, and turned towards the good. They uphold and maintain the public sphere as they operate in complete freedom and for the benefit of others. In later parts of the Spider-Man series, Peter readiness to forgive and not be bound by his past mistakes but be conditioned by it are what the Fantastic Four also did in their first issue. They ensure a connection between their identities and facilitate the development in the community, often adding to it and learning from it. They provide memorable messages and have a significant influence on behavior (Miczo 91-92, 94). It is also good to note that Spider-Man’s origin differs from the Fantastic Four as it was only through the death of someone Peter cared for that becomes the catalyst needed for his transformation to set himself on the right path of a hero. His origin and trauma towards the guilt of the death of his uncle by the hands of a criminal he could have stopped (seen and revealed on also page 8 and 11 of “Amazing Fantasy”) at the time later conditioned him to be a responsible person (Miczo100-101).
