Lacrosse is an exciting and fast-paced sport with almost nonstop action from start to finish. The strategy is simple. Players move a ball down a field using sticks with nets on them. A goal is scored by hurling the ball past the other team’s goaltender into an upright net. Lacrosse is played at all levels of athletics. There are professional, amateur, and school teams, and there are scholarships for those who play it in college.
Once upon a time in Chino Hills, California there was a family full of ballers coincedently owning the last name Ball. The three kids, Lonzo, Liangelo, and Lamelo were each magical on the court, and when you got them on the court together it was like poetry in motion. The way the brothers dished the ball amongst themselves, almost appearing as if they knew each other's very next move, was truly a pleasure to the eyes. As the boys continued to tear up their competition in a high scoring and fast-paced manner, their notoriety and fame continued to grow. It was very clear that the Ball boys were on a path of stardom.
Road trips with the family weren’t always fun and exciting. Sometimes they could get very irritating. For instance, I remember the time when my family and I went to Indiana for Carter’s Hoop Shoot Regional Final. When we were finally about two hours away from our destination, the transmission on my mom’s GMC Acadia stopped working completely. As a result, we had to pay around 4,000 dollars to get it fixed and had to wait an extra couple days after the Hoop Shoot so it could get fixed. That trip was very stressful and made everything we did harder and a lot more frustrating.
On the other hand, there are drop balls. Drop balls are the opposite of a riseball, however they are similar to a change up; drop balls are low balls thrown at or near a pitchers maximum speed. Drop balls seem as though they are going to cross the plate as a strike, but then drop before the plate, sometimes plunking into the ground. Therefore, drop balls are caught very similar to how a change up is caught. The balls faster speed makes it more difficult to stop. Dropping to your knees and flipping your glove right away will assist you in stopping the ball and stopping runners from advancing.
Cabbage ball is not a sport that is widely known. In fact, it is mainly played in the Greater New Orleans area. It is played with a ball that is similar to a soft ball but has a greater diameter a bit heavier and a lot harder to hit. I learned that it is a very popular adult league game and is taken very seriously by many of the players. When I was asked to play cabbage ball by a co-worker, I asked friends about the sport and learned that many native New Orleaneans grew up playing this sport during their childhood and many had nostalgic memories of playing pick up games in their school yards.

Curveball Baseball lore states that in the curve ball was first used in the early 1870s. It was supposedly invented by Candy Cummings and then later was demonstrated by Fred Goldsmith at the Capitoline Grounds in Brooklyn (Thorn, J. 2012). With the curveball being around for almost 140 years it has become a well-used pitch in every league of baseball. It is usually the second pitch that most pitchers are taught after the fastball. A curveball is a forward spinning pitch that causes the ball to drop as it nears the plate.
Aim: The aim of this experiment is to see which ball is better quality for bouncing and what is a lot more reasonable for price and size.
Hooverball is a combination of tennis and volleyball, but is played with a medicine ball. The game was designed for players that were not superstar athletes, but instead members of the United States government looking to get a quick workout. It made as more of a friendly competition and an exciting way to exercise rather than the typical boring jog or strength training routine. Although the game has not been as popular as sports such as baseball, football, or basketball, it has made a recent surge of popularity among members of the CrossFit community and the select few who participate yearly in the Hooverball Championships in West Branch, Iowa.
This small toy is incredibly simple in concept, but turned out to make big money. The Koosh Ball was invented after one creative man tied up a bunch of rubber bands to make a smaller ball with a lighter impact for his children. When he saw how well his idea panned out, he decided to create a whole new toy in itself. The patented ball is simply hundreds of rubber strings protruding from a rubber core. It
“Slow down silly goose!” I say these words to you as you run through the parking lot towards the baseball field. Slow down. It seems like just yesterday when you were taking your first steps. I remember how your eyes brightened and you shined your three shiny teeth when you realized you could let go of Mommy’s hand. I keep replaying that moment in my head as you slow down and grab my hand, so I can walk you to the dugout. This is your very first t-ball game and you couldn’t be more excited. However, I am a nervous wreck. You are only four! You are not ready! Your helmet is too big and you tend to play in the dirt instead of paying attention to the flying ball. I just keep thinking about how much it would hurt if you got hit with that
The team was small but strong. The whole game the crack of the bat hitting the ball was atrocious. The other team had been hitting dingers the whole game. Somehow we had managed to keep the score to only five to three. The game was coming to an end because of the time limit. I could sense the umpires wanted the game to be over so we had to pick it up quickly. The time was running out, “Five minutes left!” yelled the home plate ump.
Augustus was well known for using artwork for political gains and assertions in order to establish himself as a righteous statesman and emperor of Rome. Augustus was Gaius Octavian on the 23rd of September 63 B.C. His father and mother were Gaius Octavius and Atia, niece of Julius Caesar. Augustus grew up alongside Julius Caesar, but after his death in 43 B.C, Octavian became propraetor (governor) and consul for the first time and was recognize as Julius Caesar’s adoptive son under the name, Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus. As the first empeor of Rome, Augustus utilize the art of political propaganda to a full advantage among the Romans by using art in the service of his political and social ideology. For example, sestertius (coins) dating back to 37 B.C illustrates the portrait of Octavian on one side and the portrait of Divus Julius on the other. Political propaganda stunts like this were used by Augustus in order to demonstrate that he was the adoptive son of Julius Caesar, which further validated his claim to power. Coins were an easy tool to promote his claim because they were used daily by the citizens of Rome and nearby provinces. Three themes were common in Augustus political propaganda, one was to showcase his military victory as the foundation of his power, such as the Temple of Mars built after avenging Julius Caesar death. Two, peace achieved through military victory such as in the
