The Dark Side by Jane Mayer was an empowering novel which vividly depicted America’s response to terror and war after a fateful September day. It gained its name from an influential man who was dedicated to protecting the United States: Dick Cheney. The Center for Terrorism Control with its abundance of intelligence did not notice that the KSM was linked to Al Qaeda and even further linked to Osama bin Laden himself. In order to seek information from him, unidentified people starved Lingh by giving him only one thousand calories a day and they left him in a cold box. They also conveniently left out vital facts such as his father already hired a lawyer, and manipulated him by giving him a substance which would make Lingh say things he was unaware of. After his trial, Lingh’s attorney’s argued that another Taliban foot soldier was treated much better than Lingh. This was because the other soldier was not sabotaged in a way that would lead to him confessing things while being held. “‘They’ll never charge anyone,’ Kenny predicted. ‘There’s no incentive to.
