My question to you is if you were an adult and parent, would you recommend this book to child? Drew is a superior high school basketball player known in the state of California as Drew "True" Legend. True struggles with the fact of not having a father, since his walked away when he was a young. Until he moved from New York when the guy who "recruited" him to move and give his mom a new job. True starts the season with a spark and carries the team. He has trouble with the school and eventually the law, until helping out a Streetball legend. As a parent i would personally like my child to read True Legend a novel written by Mike Lupica because it relates to lessons that we can use in our everyday lives, loyalty, shows honesty, and to never give up on anything you start, even though True gets into trouble throughout the book. Loyalty is trait that every person in the world should have. An example of loyalty is when …show more content…
Urban Sellers is a man that Drew won't give up on. The first time True met this man was midnight at Morrison Park, the time that True has always trained. He saw some man playing basketball, he was doing all the moves that True has wanted to do. He was watching this guy shoot for over an hour, this man not even noticing until... Drew approached the court an all of a sudden the man vanished, nowhere in sight. True was confused, how can someone just disappear like that. After True watched him for the next a few nights, True notices that he was also beginning to come to his high school games. Drew one night decides to follow him back to his apartment, and gets invited into Urban's room by the doorman. Once True and Urban start talking, he realizes that Urban is the perfect guy to do his english project on. In exchange for Urban getting his diploma, which he never received. If you do not succeed the first time you should keep trying till you accomplish what you are doing or that
In the story “I Am Legend”, written by Richard Matheson, revealed a flashback in chapter six, which talked about Robert Neville’s family before the plague started. The flashback was very effective in chapter six because it reveals how plague started and showed us the severity of it. The flashback also made points clear about Neville’s family and how they felt about the virus before it killed everyone. This helped me as a reader understand what happened to his family because it was never said in the story. “Maybe it’s some type of virus”, he said. She shook her head. “I don’t know.” “Between the storms and the mosquitoes and everyone being sick, life is rapidly becoming a pain.” This gives us some insight on how the virus may have been spread.
What is the definition of loyalty? Some people may say that it means to have commitment to someone or something, but to Tomi Nakaji’s friends, it means something more. In the book “House of the Red Fish”, readers see the amount of loyalty that circulates between everyone living in Tomi’s life. “House of the Red Fish” is an award winning book written by Graham Salisbury that talks about a boy, his friends, and his enemy who are consistently loyal in different ways throughout the book. The book is mostly about Tomi’s journey of raising his father’s boat after it was sunken due to military thinking his father was from the opposing side in WWII.
Legend by marie Lu is very high in action and has you sitting on the edge of your seat waiting to read what is gonna happen next. The setting of the book Takes place in the western United States but is now taken over by the Republics. There are two major characters in this story Day and June. Day is a renegade off of the streets and June is an outstanding superior 15 year old student at Drake University and not to mention she is the Republicans most amazing prodigy. Day is running from the government because he is wanted for making the republicans look foolish, in the beginning Day notices that his house has been marked with a weird mark and realizes they marked his house because his family has been detected for plague so he decides to go to
We all know loyal is praised by people.Be loyal to someone means you do not do anything bad to them. For example, you do not betray your
In Legend by Marie Lu the author develops the theme that everyday is a fresh start to reveal Day’s perspective of life and his way of living it. At this point in the story June and Day have escaped the Republic and are going into hiding. A storm hits them and they take shelter in an abandoned train car when June asks Day what made him chose Day as his street name. Day says “Each day means everything's possible again. You live in the moment, you die in the moment, you take all one day at a time… you try to walk in the light.” (Lu 304) This scene reveals the theme of taking life one day at a time because it shows how Day approaches life in his dystopian world. This emphasizes the mentality that Day has and how he is living life the best he can.
an excellent book. One of the most important things I learned from this book is that you can't be too quick to trust someone. There are two parts of the book where I found this. One of them is the time that June tells the Republic about Day’s location when Day trusted June because they had been with each other for a while and had started becoming good friends. Then June tells the republic to go to Day’s house and tells Day to go to his house because they are going to take his brother away. This ends up with Day’s mother being executed so that they can capture Day. When I was reading this it shocked me that June would even tell the Republic because she and Day were falling in
Legend is a dystopian young adult novel, written by the New York times bestseller, and art director of a video game company, Marie Lu. It was originally released on November 29, 2011. The 305 page book really caught my attention, because it didn’t only have the genres, action and adventure, but also a bit of romance and political fiction. Legend is the first official book in The Legend Trilogy, followed by the bestsellers, Prodigy and Champion. A film adaption of Legend is taking place in this day and age.

“Loyalty and devotion lead to bravery. Bravery leads to the spirit of self-sacrifice. The spirit of self-sacrifice creates trust in the power of love.” - Morihei Ueshiba. Loyalty is a strong feeling of allegiance and support. Being Loyal to your family, friends and putting them before the law shows loyalty. Loyalty is more important than justice. Family and friends are more important than the law and should come before everything.
After watching "The Strength of Legends" by Auti Angel, I was truly inspired and believed it was very eye opening as well. Auti started her life as a wonderful, extremly talented dancer, but it wasn't long until she got into a horrible car accident that left her paralized from the waste down. The image of her in the hospital with the smile on her face in the hospital bed made me believe that she wasn't going to let this stop her dancing, which she didn't. Auti countinued to dance and watching her dance in the wheel chair after her accident showed me how strong and inspiring person she really is. She overcomed this disability, which many people can not say they can do. She didnt let this stop her life or her goals for herself. I believe that
Loyalty, some of us have it, some of us don’t. Most times, we have loyalty to are friends and family. Sometimes we only have loyalty to certain or specific people. What do you think loyalty is? I think loyalty is many things like being trustworthy, being honest, caring, having respect, supporting them, and many more. Loyalty has many definitions but i'm going to be talking about what I think the 3 of the main definitions of loyalty are and what do they mean.
Loyalty can be shown by simple tasks that people do every day. Loyalty could be put into action by showing that he or she cares enough to go out of his/her way to just speak to the person each and every day. Even on the busy days one should show that he or she is still loyal to that person by always communicating with that person. Loyalty can be shown in many different ways, and it depends on the type of situation in which it is or has taken place (Kleinig, Loyalty (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy).
oyalty is something we all as individuals want from each other. Loyalty is a term that can be used in many outlooks. Not being loyal to yourself, and others will never create a foundation being that you can’t be trusted. Other than emotional tips, loyalty can be used in other areas as well. The dictionary defines loyal as a strong feeling or the state of being loyal to someone or something.
Legends have been told throughout generations, of tales about werewolves, vampires, and witches, yet we simply do not believe in such tales due to the lack of proof and scientific explanation. Legends alone have some truth behind their stories, whether it be historical or nonfactual. The simple fact is, as the centuries pass, the truth gets muddled with fiction, leaving us with a superstitious tale of supernatural beings that don’t exist. The stories we hear today are;in fact ,based on historical events that had happened long ago and are told in different countries.
Really it depends on belief and religion. For example, if you're a Christian, then the belief is that the prickly leaves represent the crown of thorns Jesus wore when he was crucified. The berries represent the blood that he shed, because of the crown of thorns. I know that's the right one but since I like to make up my own stuff that's not how it goes in this story.
