The United States of America is not doing very well in upholding some of the principles of The Declaration of Independence. You can tell this by looking at some of the protests going on in the united states such as the Black Lives Matter and the NFL players kneeling during the national anthem. The main principle the United States is not upholding well is,“All men are created equal.” The reason I stated this principle is because something you'll notice about some of the protests is that black people are usually the ones who are doing the protesting. The Black Lives Matter protest was formed after some police departments around the area have killed several innocent black people. However, there are some great arguments against the protest
Do you believe that the United States upholds to the principles of the Declaration of Independance? I do not believe that the US does. We have seen why they don’t hold up to the principle of “All men are created equal.” Two examples of this would be the NFL kneeling for the National Anthem and the Black lives Matter movement. The United States does not uphold the principles of the Declaration of Independance.
The United States has not been upholding the principles of The Declaration of Independence. They have not been upholding the principles for example the “Black Lives Matter” and the kneeling when the National Anthem is being played in the NFL. They also have not been upholding the properties of The Declaration Of Independence because of woman’s rights. There are two prime examples about how The United States has not been upholding the principles of The Declaration Of Independence.
What if you were at your favorite sporting event, watching your favorite player and then they disrespect the nation's flag? Pro athletes are going to far, because the way Colin Kaepernick protested the Black Lives Matter protest was very disrespectful to our nation’s flag. There are many different ways he could’ve protested the matter. Sports should be a time to watch your favorite sports team, not to watch protests.
I was asked if the United States is upholding the principles of the Declaration of Independence. In my opinion they have not been very successful at all. I think this because our government sometimes doesn’t treat everyone equally. As it is stated in the Declaration of Independence “All men are created equally”, yet not always are they treated equally. People built America on the foundation so people could achieve their own specific dream. It would be alright except for the fact that we have to pay extra taxes so people on welfare can have the money which isn’t fair because the people that get up everyday and work are not exactly being treated equally. People that don’t have to work will never understand what it is like to have to pay extra
The importance of other races are not changed to the the “Black Lives Matter” movement. The phrase has been changed in the attempt to portray different meanings to take the attention away from the problems that African Americans have. This article contains quotes coming from President Barack
Personally, these two chapters helped make sense of the Black Lives Matter movement be providing context to the social structures that shape and perpetuate the oppressive experiences of an ethnic youth minority. In understanding how society can be institutionally oppressive (e.g through institutions of education, government, and economy), it also explains the degree in which human agency is necessary. This helps explain by some Black Lives Matter supporters must go to elaborate lengths to get their voices heard. Especially for youth who are already at a disadvantage. This is discussed by Cairns as millennials are seen as being entitled, therefore their voices, and experiences are discredited in some ways.
The article addresses how the Black Live Matter movement is becoming a big topic in the presidential election. The activist in the Black Lives Matter focus is trying to understand and test the candidates about how they will target and bring change to the justice reform and many issues that are occurring. Many individual see the activist as rude with how they are dealing with the candidates; however, people do not understanding that the issues that they are trying to push to be addressed are being overlooked. In addition, the activist wants the candidates to understand that Black lives also matter and it should be on the agenda. Black Lives Matter seems to be trying to hold the candidates accountable and trying to them know that change has to
Second, the Black Lives Matter movement must determine the opposing side’s argument as morally corrupt before rebelling. Movements like the Civil Rights Movement or the Pro-Choice Movement fights for human rights because of our moral obligation as a society and as a people to treat others in a humane manner. In addition to the opposing side being morally wrong, the arguer, more importantly, needs to be absolutely convinced that he/she is morally right. For example, different church denominations do not get in violent doctrinal disputes. They have their disagreements, but not on the basis that the other doctrine is morally wrong. However, certain denominations are absolutely convinced of their own position and as a result, groups of people
Police Chief John J. Feeney speaks out about the lack of trust within communities of color and the law enforcement that reigns upon them.
Movements are one way to raise awareness and motion for a change in a society. From the Civil Rights movement to the women’s movement, the United States is created on movements and uprisings. The Black Lives Matter Movement is the current movement, which sets focus on some of the inequalities blacks experience on a daily basis. Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, author of From #BlackLivesMatter To Black Liberation identifies tax revenue local, criminal records, voter registration and residential segregation as both the root and structural causes behind the movement. These structural causes created the goals of the movement which center on police accountability, change in economic conditions, improvement of wages and the improvement of education outcomes.
Ralph Waldo Emerson, a forward-thinking transcendentalist, concluded that, "Unless you try something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow." This is to say that you have to push your comfort zone in order to grow as a member of the human race; a statement I wholeheartedly agree with, to an extent. I was recently a part of a play which dealt with the issues of police brutality and racial inequality in America. Essentially it deals with 6 high school-aged kids, how race affects their daily lives, and how they all react when one of their own is shot and killed by a police officer coming home to Northern Virginia from Baltimore. After each show, a moderator from the Black Lives Matter Movement would lead a post-show
The Black Lives Matter movement is to bring awareness of the multiple ways in which African Americans feel powerless. The Editorial Board from The New York Times wrote, “The Truth of ‘Black Lives Matter’” to inform the elderly population who read the paper about how the lives of the African Americans has never been easy. When it comes to the topic of equality, many knowledgeable people would readily agree that African Americans have not always had it easy. The editorial board begins to write about some stories of the different ways that African Americans have died, they also mention and make connections between past events.
The Black Lives Matter movement has swept across America. It 's branched out with chapters in over 31 cities and held rallies and boycotts across the United States(Sidner). The Black Lives Matter movement started with the outrage of the death of a young man. It continues to take over headlines and raise awareness on police brutality and inequality. However, the movement has met resistance from the All Lives Matter group. This group thinks that Black Lives Matter is a movement to express hatred towards other races. However, statistics, the views of fellow citizens, and the overall purpose of the Black Lives Matter movement, can prove that the movement wasn 't meant to express hate on other races and that we need to support the movement instead of going against it.
On November 12, 2015 , about 150 Black Lives Matter protesters scolded at students studying in the library at Dartmouth College. The protester’s actions were caused by a Black Lives Matter display of shirts being torn down the week prior. The protests started out as a friendly and peaceful and turned into hostile and aggressive. Students studying were physically assaulted. Protesters opened the doors of study spaces and the students that were studying for an exam were physically assaulted. The victims were also verbally assaulted by the protesters because they were insulting white students with profanity. However the tactics, tone, and words of the Black Lives Matter protesters mirrored everything they claimed to stand against.
The “Lives Matter” protests were the biggest topic of 2015. Since then other world events have stolen the light from these protest group, but some continue to support the different causes. “Black Lives Matter” was started when an increasing number of unarmed African Americans were killed by policemen. This cause an outraged among the African American community thus creating “The Black Lives Matter” group. The creation of this group gave birth to an opposing group “All Lives Matter”. This group purpose was to show that not only African Americans lives mattered but all races did. Both groups had great intentions, but slowly began to forget what they were started for. These groups caused racial prejudice between the supporters of the two protest
