Lyle McKinney and Heather Novak address in the article “FASA Filing among first-year college students: who files on time, who doesn’t, and why does it matter?” that every year many students fail to collect financial aid because they did not file for one. The reason why students do not file for FAFSA is because they believe that they do not meet the requirements for financial aid. Other think that they can provide for themselves without the help from financial aid. Some students worry about their privacy or they either miss the application deadline. According to McKinney and Novak, “44% of first-year community college students did not file a FAFSA” (McKinney and Novak 12). Community college students who file late or after the deadline will get

The HIPAA law dictates how our organization not only handles patient privacy and record keeping, but also how we handle patients’ request to view medical records for a variety of reasons. A patient in our organization requested to attain complete access to his records that include psychiatric records as well. Although the HIPAA law grants access to patients, there may be some crucial provisions that require special attention. I have done extensive research to provide our organization with the lawful protocols we must follow in order to protect our organization and our patient’s rights as well. HIPAA’s concise guidelines are what provide our organization and patient a clear stance on our responsibilities as well as limitations in the release
I apologize for missing your call! When you applied, you didn’t provide your Social Security Number, which is needed for your financial aid information. In addition, we don’t have a record where you completed the FAFSA.
HIPAA is a public federal law gives patients a legal right to keep their health information private and secure, but it also allows healthcare providers to disclose patient information for patient care, as needed (Iron Mountain, 2015). HIPAA included provisions that required the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to adopt national standards for electronic health care transactions, unique patient identifiers, and security (Ong, 2011). Being aware that advances in electronic technology would risk the privacy of health information, Congress also included provisions that mandated privacy protections for individually identifiable health information. HIPAA is the first government mandate that regulates how healthcare providers share
In 1996, a set of federal regulations known as HIPPA was established. HIPPA provided comprehensive protection and guidance regarding how patient information can be used, stored, disclosed and maintained by healthcare providers (Alexander et al., 2018). The HIPPA law addressed the privacy and security of personal health information, continuation of health insurance coverage for employed people, and reduction in Medicare fraud and abuse (Alexander et al., 2018). The segment of HIPAA receiving the most public attention was the privacy and security regulations section. The Department of Health and Human Services developed privacy rules focusing on the protection of patient health information communicated in any manner: verbal, paper, visual, or
If you own a business that has employees (other than yourself), you may, at some point, need the help of a Fair Labor Standards attorney. The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), enacted in 1938, established minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping and child labor standards affecting full- and part-time workers in both the private and public sectors. As an employer, you must adhere to the provisions of the FLSA or face these legal or criminal actions that only an experienced Fair Labor Standards attorney can assist you with:
“I think there are a lot of people who qualify that don’t think they will qualify, so they don’t fill out the FAFSA,” said Briget Jans (sic), the executive director of student financial aid at UH.
Introduction: 5 a.m. The alarm clock rings, on a normal day you would dread waking up so early. But today, is not your normal average day. Monday, August 21st, 2017, is the beginning of your first day of a new journey of college as a freshman; the nerves of the unknown lingers on as you sat in the classroom, awaiting your professor arrival. Suddenly, the door swung open and a tall, muscular, Caucasian male walked in, commanding the class attention by his demeanor. The nervousness intensifies as he proceeded to call on the attendance. This is it people! the moment everyone, including your family, have been waiting for; first-generation of your lineage to attend college. Name by name each student signified their attendance by raising their right arm when called upon, but, there’s a problem, your name was not called on. What? How can it be? There’s no way! you are overcome with complete and absolute shock; realizing you’ve been dropped from your classes due to financial aid issue. To continue enrolling, you would have to pay out of pocket. The excitement that was there before, no longer remains. Countless number of young adults are overwhelmed with the reality of college and paying for an education. For many students, each year, they are the recipient of such a catastrophic experience. Unfortunately, I was the victim of this heart-rending incident; imagine a society where financial aid and student loans did not exist, but instead, the necessity of these financial programs would diminish because college tuition would be free.
The US government provides over 150 billion dollars each year to the students’ financial aid. Financial-Aid is one of the most reliable sources for low income students. More than half of College and University students take financial aid for the first bachelors’
I. FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Students that want to go to college can go their website and fill out a form every year. Then FAFSA decides what programs that student is eligible for to get student financial aid from the U.S. Government.
For many people they have dreamed about going to college whether it is local or far away. They can already picture their future being successful. Some believe they already have a lot of things planned out, from how they will pay for classes to where they will live. Surprisingly everything does not always go as planned. Let’s start off with financial aid. Financial aid is any grant, scholarship, or loans that are offered to help pay your college expenses. Many time this aid provided by federal and state agencies, college or foundations. Many times the aid given to you is based off your parent’s salary. This can sometime be bad if they

In light of being denied the Federal Pell Grant from applying for the FAFSA, I will now rely upon grants from scholarships I have been applying for. Along with my own money from future jobs and my family's contributions to my education. For the past year and still continuing, I have received money from my family in order to save up for college. Money that I received during daily responsibilities around the house. No matter the quantity, due to the fact that I am unemployed. For the reason that I have been entirely focusing on my high school education since I am still in High School and in the ACE Program. Nevertheless, I plan to obtain a job in the near future to aid my education in Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Whether that job is in
Middle class students are finding it difficult to afford tuition prices without any financial help, that being loans or financial aid. When it comes to covering tuition costs middle class families are the ones that have to face the different problems. In Jeffrey Selingo’s article “Perspective Can the Middle Class Afford College?” he says “ “You have students who can afford to pay tuition at once, have low income students who receive financial aid. What happens to the students in the middle?”. A good majority of middle class families make just a little bit more above of the financial aid cut off making them ineligible to get any financial aid therefore they have to rely on student loans. FAFSA is a really good program it helps out many students in the United States but according to Luke Redd’s article “Should College Be Free? Here's What You Need to Consider” it says “Although it benefits many students, the nation's existing financial aid systems currently fails to provide an equal opportunity to every qualified American”. You have students who get all of their tuition covered and still receive a little bit of extra cash for books and supplies while others only receive about half of what their tuition
Finally, the most difficult challenge students face in college is a financial hardship. Many students come from various walks of life and sometimes determining one’s financial capability to offset college costs during the early stages of can be problematic. Some students come from well to do families who have a tremendous capacity to pay full tuition without external assistance. These particular students do not require financial aid or scholarships, as they can meet the institution’s financial requirement regardless of what level in college they may fall under as the source of wealth is derived from the family or families. Other students, however, come from impoverished families whom solely depend on financial aid and work full time or part time
