“To be free, a man must be free from his brothers.”when people hear this they may think that that is crazy , why would you want to be free from your brothers.Even if we don't believe in the whole of mankind like the world in Anthem. We do believe in helping others and not living entirely for one’s benefit. But there are three thing that Equality points out and these three things makes this statement true. Each man has his own mind . His mind is his own temple. In his temple , he worships the word “I”. Each man has his mind. We all have different thoughts, emotions, opinions desires, and ambitions. Everyone knows this. But each man having his own mind is not as simple as this. Equality is taught that he and his brother s are one. They have no …show more content…
He cannot think or speak or dream. He is just a tool to his brothers. To do this it takes away a man spirit for his mind and his spirit are forever connected. Each man is to have his mind because without it, he is an animal, a tool, a thing, not a person. And how are we to live our life and believe that we are a little better than food we eat. His mind is his temple. Whatever your religion, you have set of beliefs that you live by. They are your morals. Many religions will say that you are to come to their place of worship to truly be with their god or deity. But Equality’s religion is brotherhood. There's no place to worship because they believe that everyone is everyone. Because each has his own mind, he is not connected with his brothers. Each man has his own beliefs. How will you live with yourself if you cannot simply say what is right and wrong according to you. In his temple, he worships the god “I”. “ I’m going to change the world.””I will paint my house blue.”whether they are fleeting thoughts or if they are goals for the future, you are doing a very simple form of what i’ll call praying. You want something for you and you alone. You are free to do what you want because you are “I” in your mind. All of
Up here we don't believe that anyone is unequal, we are all people of god. Why would he put them on our earth if they were unwanted or different? In the verse Exodus 21:16 it states: “Whoever steals a man and sells him, and anyone found in possession of him, shall be put to death.” I am a man of god and I believe in the great book.
so that everyone is equal. For Equality’s world there all taught as children to be the same as
contexts of time and place, and he is observable. At the same time and because of his faith or through it, he is or claims to be in touch with another world transcending this. The duality of this position some would say is the greatness and some the very meaning of human life: the heart of its
Equality tells us some rules that they have like they don’t have they got to dress the same and they can’t be taller or smarter than any of their brothers and they when they turn fifteen they have to get a job and work there till they turn forty and then they go to the home of the useless. Equality also tells us that his teacher calls him names because he was so much taller and smarter than his brothers. Equality said that he wished to get sent to the home of scholars but when it was his turn to get his job the council told him he was going to be a street sweeper and he was not upset he said he was happy. Equality said he felt this way because he knew he was guilty and now he had a way to atone for
In the story “Brothers”, there were two brothers, who started arguing. They both wanted to play the Xbox and they started arguing. The brothers fought for nearly a half an hour. After, the older brother put the little brother in a head lock. The youngest brother decided to let the oldest play before he got hurt. Therefore, freedom results from not who we are, but our decisions that decided our destiny.
Equality’s society is unjust because everyone strives for the same moral idea of equality. In the real world, there is absolutely no such thing as absolute equality, therefore when a slight difference occurs, there will be unjust. Equality stated,“This is a great sin, to be born with a head which is too quick. It is not good to be different from our brothers, but it is evil to be superior to them. The Teachers told us so, and they frowned when they looked upon us.”(21) Even a small difference such as intelligence still made Equality suffer. Motivation can also change one’s morality. The society’s morality changed when all everyone push for is equality. Equality’s journal claimed, “ ‘What is not thought by all men cannot be true,’ said Collective 0-0009. ‘You have worked on this alone?’ asked International 1-5537. ‘Yes,’ we answered. ‘What is not done collectively cannot be good,’ said International 1-5537.”(69) In this society, no matter how beneficial to mankind the aftermath could be, if it’s not achieving equality then is automatically morally
“we know these things, but we do not care… we are tired.” (RAND 76) Equality is alone here yet keeps using the word “we” rather than “I” or “me” This shows how he identifies himself as a group “we” even though he is alone. “My hands… My spirit… my sky… My forest… My earth…” (RAND 94) In this text Equality begins to use the world “My”. This is a word that is used to classify your-self as an individual and shows how equality thinks he is an individual. Equality changes from classifying himself as a group to classifying himself as an individual. This is how Equality changes throughout the text.
that he wants to maintain the peace of his physical realm as well as people's mind. He command to
•Information, independent thought, and freedom are restricted in this society. Equality must think about “the will of all men together” and how they are all supposed to be “one in all and all in one”. No one may think of or for themselves and everyone decision is made by the grace of every brother.
However, they are very different people in my opinion. Equality is a very smart individual, even though he isn’t supposed to be any smarter than anyone else in his society, “No single one can possess greater wisdom than the manly scholars who are elected by all men for their wisdom. Yet we can. We do.” (Rayn 54)
After seeing this, he then attempts to see if the body truly does exist. He explains the beliefs he has about the outside world. He understands his body and such experiences it goes though, and through that he realizes that they must be present, and if they were not it would be impossible for him to feel them. He distinguishes the body from other things because the body must always be present, while other things could be merely different feelings. He here uses premises that he developed in Meditations three and four to help state that mind and body both exist, but separately. He says that his mind is different from his body, so therefore it must be separate from it. He then comes back to his Truth Rule from Meditation Four. “Every judgment that I make concerning matters that are “clear and distinct” to me is most assuredly true.” He says that god has made him think that his mind and body at distinctly separate, so they must be. He argues that his body and mind are
If a person remains free he will try to attain nothing so relentlessly as trying to find someone to love. This can be seen in today as people who have free judgment in their live try to find the one they love. In our society if a person is not held back by anything or anyone, they try to find someone they love and someone to marry and live the rest of their life with/.
First of all, Equalism originated from a man named James Arthur Baldwin. Baldwin was first a part of the Christian religion, his stepfather was a preacher for a protestant church in their community. He left the church and the Christian faith to create something of his own and live the way he felt was right. He claimed that Christianity was reinforcing the system of American slavery by palliating the pangs of oppression and delaying salvation until a promised afterlife. So, Baldwin created his own religion and called it Equalism. It focuses around a quote he lived by, which was, “People who treat other people as less than human must not be surprised when the bread that they cast on the waters comes floating back to them poisoned.” That became the basic

Some would choose to declare that every human being is both a body and a mind. Both being gelled together until death, than having the mind go on to exist and the body being lifeless. A person lives throughout two collateral histories, one having to do with what happens to the body and in it, and the other being what happens in and to the mind. What happens to the body is public and what happens to the mind is private. The events which reply to the body consist of the physical world, and the events of the mind consist of the mental world.
