After reading “Everyday Bible Study, chapters 6-9” I found that God wrote the Bible. The Bible is made up of 66 books and was written over a large time span and has many different Authors like Peter, Matthew, and Timothy to name a few, and all were from various parts of the world. Given that technology was nowhere near what it is today, communicating with each other or to conspire was not possible during their time; they all corroborate the same thing, that God wrote the Bible through Man. Man was inspired to create the Scriptures from God through the influence of the Holy Spirit; Scripture was not created by any human being, rather it was translated by God through the Holy Spirit to Man (2 Pet. 1:20-21 New International Version). “If Men Are Involved, How Are There No Errors?” …show more content…
37); the Bible is regarded as being inerrant, because it was created by God and God cannot lie and is incapable of lying. The authenticity of God’s word is stated several times throughout Scripture, and David proclaims that God’s word is error-free; to object the honesty of God’s word as being true is to challenge the claim of Christ (Cartwright & Hulshof, 2016, pp. 35-37). After careful review of the texts in this week’s Module, if I had a friend that were to challenge that Christians were not certain where the Bible is from and that it is not the only one in existence, realistically it would be difficult to break down and explain because our culture and structure is not what it was many years ago. We are continuing to evolve and this evolution from ones morals to challenging skepticism; what should be, what isn’t, and so on…, we live in a day and age where most are not going to do any legitimate research we stand aside while someone else invests their time and proficiency. Also with that, we are quick to go with a headline from the newspaper, television,
A humorous and engaging speaker, Daniel Wallace was invited to speak at Ouachita Baptist University about the textual reliability of the Bible. He opened his lecture with a fictional tale about a scribe named Brother Andrew that ended with what the audience soon realized was a joke, but by doing this Wallace was able to show the importance of leaving out even a single letter when translating the Bible. Wallace cites The Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown a few times in his lecture, who states that “history has never had a definitive form the book [Bible].” With this quote, Wallace begins his discussion on the corruptness of Bible translations, stating that the main argument backing the idea of the Bible’s corruptness is that we don’t have the original texts; we
I am assuming you were already a member of the church, but not a part of the Senior's Bible Study. You used wisdom to evaluate the senior's class and sought out the missing pieces of the learning puzzle. It was great that God led you to use illustration materials for the seniors because everyone learns in a different manner.
Living life as a Christian, in many ways is difficult in that there is always a war being fought by the enemy for your faith. Dickson insists that, “there are clear New Testament passages urging us all to speak up for Christ when we can” (Dickson, 101). Christians are called to a life of spreading the gospel to all mankind and nations. Dickson urges that the gospel is the announcement of our King coming to make all things new again. Christian’s are called by Jesus Himself to spread this news and work of God’s anointed King and messiah Jesus! The main nugget Christians should take from this is how everyone is not an evangelists, however, Christians are clearly called to proclaim Christ from our lips as well as
1.) There are many non-believers who question and try to disprove the validity of the word of God its authors who he spoke to. Many will argue that the number of authors prove that the bible is a collection of stories and go out of their way to deny divine inspiration of its authors. Divine authorship, “recognizes that every word of the Bible originated and came about through the work of God.” (Cartwright and Hulshof, 2016). God used men to put his words to the text of the Bible. Many people fail to realize that words of the scripture are directly his own.
The validity of the bible and its contents has been a popular topic deliberated by numerous religious scholars for over three-hundred years. Biblical scholar and professor, Dr. Bart Erhman, dedicated his studies to canonical text in their original languages. Erhman’s evangelical background had a large impact on his pursuit in an education and career in religious studies, but his initial opinions about Christianity were completely flipped when he began to discover the great number of mistakes and intended adjustments within the texts that had been made by earlier translators. In Erhman’s first book, Misquoting Jesus, he illustrates his provocative case to convey that many treasured theological stories and beliefs from the bible are the outcome
Questions about the authenticity of the Holy Bible have been interrogated since the first circulation of the Word. Nonbelievers dispute the entirety of the actuality of the Holy Bible. While skeptical believers along with some nonbelievers question the accuracy of recorded events within the Holy Bible, specifically the Gospels. Individuals debate the issue if the Gospels are historically reliable, claiming there is no tangible evidence and the books contradict themselves. Mark D. Roberts, in his book, Can we Trust the Gospels? was able to provide reliable evidence and reasons on why people can trust the Gospels. His book gives an overview on the subject of the gospel reliability and trustworthiness.
The Bible is a history Book, there is no denying that at all. It records the history of man from the time of Creation in Genesis to the time of their future eternal destination in Revelation. Man has no other book as the Bible, for what greater work is there than that of God’s own? Throughout the ages, God has shown His providence in allowing the original autographs to be undiscovered, or simply destroyed. However, God promises in His word, such as in Isaiah 40:8, that “…the word of our God shall stand for ever.” Just because the original autographs of the Bible are no longer available, that does not mean that the Christian community is lost without Biblical documents whatsoever. There are many ancient manuscripts that have been found in various
Bible as the Inspired Word of God The Bible is the work of various authors, who lived in different continents and wrote in different eras. Furthermore, much of the text does not claim to have been 'dictated' by God and is not always God speaking to people. In parts it consists of people speaking to God, as in the Psalms, and people speaking to people, as in the New Testament letters written by Paul. In light of this, some maintain that it is not possible to treat the Bible as a book of divine oracles, delivered once by God and recorded by its authors through divine inspiration, since biblical authors were products of their time and subsequently their understanding of divine truth was culturally
Firstly, I would like to speak of my journey to change, rectify, or should I say modify my behavior. The behavior I wished to modify is the behavior of spending time to grow in the spiritual realm. This is a rather personal subject so I will try to be superficial, but maybe not too superficial. I do not wish to lose the essence or profoundness of the journey.
There is proof of the Divine author of Scripture everywhere; even in the prophets and apostles refusing to boast in themselves, and instead praising God. It is the same Spirit who spoke by the mouths of the prophets that penetrates in everyone’s hearts, and until the Spirit “illuminates their minds”, the men who doubt this will forever be
I purchased this book or this assignment with preconceived notions that this book was written by a feminist so the view of the women would be biased. I also believed that the book would only discuss the women in the Hebrew Bible or Old Testament because the author was Jewish. I was clearly surprised to find my ignorance had proved me wrong. This book analyzes women’s roles in Biblical history on a collegiate and academic level by a professor who cared deeply enough to research minute details of these characters. Tikva addresses one of my thoughts within the acknowledgements page when she said, “My feminist sensibilities
Many people find it hard to believe that the Bible is based on true events and is reliable. People do not believe that there is real evidence that the Bible is true. Therefore, they do not trust the history written in the Bible. For example, Thomas Paine was one of many who believed that the Bible is not a reliable source. The Age of Reason was written by him in 1793 and 1794. In it he wrote that he was a deist, a person who believes that God created the universe, but does not become involved with humanity. He wrote in The Age of Reason that he believes that the Holy Spirit did not write the Bible through men, but it was written by men and men alone; therefore, God was not involved in men's lives being that God and the Holy Spirit are one.
Along with the ESV Study Bible, two textbooks, some thoughts are now crafted into a flexible writer's guide. Encouragement to create "The Guide" (TG) has been the labor of love, and I praise the Holy Trinity for the opportunity. In use, TG will inspire better reading, writing, directional informational, from different platforms to help release the Bible's message to unique audiences. The main topics are in bold italics for easier location. The assignment was to combine texts Grasping God's Word (GGW) and How to Read the Bible for All it is Worth (RBW). Even since last April, the latter book has produced a fourth edition to change with the scholarship times. Both textbooks talk about preconditions but neither go into real detail
We will show you why the Bible is still reliable and relevant up to this day, but why is it important to discuss about this topic? It is important because with this topic, we will be able to reach out to people who don’t believe and are in doubt on the reliability of the bible. We will also be able to prove to the multitude that the Bible isn’t just reliable, but it is also the truth.
Second: to offer that the Bible is true is to say that we can faith in its content; we believe it to be guide to our faith. We would have to embrace the notion that there are specific assertions about Gods faithfulness and how we should live our lives and reciprocate. These contentions may appear somewhat intricate, but recognizing its intricacies is a way not of evading commitment to the Bible 's truth however of fully addressing to the complex ways in which the Bible is true. Let’s contemplate the rapport between truth and meaning: the truth of a testimonial or a book hinges on what it means. Countless biblical scholars have worked for eons to scrutinize and appraise the text of the Old Testament, the Apocrypha, and the New Testament.
