Successful High School Carrer

Going from a middle school to high school pretty much for anybody can tend to be challenging. High school is the place where you start to mature yourself and better yourself for later on in life for whatever the future may bring. Coming from 8th grade entering into high school as a freshman depending on where you're at can be tough, you really start to realize that you are starting to have responsibilities. You may not start feeling that way in the beginning which in my case I could say the same, but it definitely comes. Converting as an 8th grader to high school you notice the teachers don't baby you in situations if it's your work or your project it's your job to know what's going on the teachers definitely won't look for you.

From happy moments to sad moments, from having the best time to falling asleep in class. Middle school was also a place for change. If I knew then what I know now I would let up and coming 8th graders know about requirements, friendships, & the building. High School is said to be one of the best times of your life. But, it can also be a scary experience. It is up to you how your high school experience turns out to be. I have only been in high school for twos years. It has been stressful but yet its been extremely fun. Spartanburg High School has many exciting opportunities for you and I to try out.

High school, for many, is commonly termed as “the greatest four years of your life.” It is stopping for coffee with your friends while listening to your favorite songs on the way to school in the morning. It is staring at the clock waiting for the bell to ring to finally go to your favorite class of the day. It is staying after a long day of class for meetings, clubs, or sports, or it is spending Friday nights with your best friends performing under the football field lights. High school can be many different experiences for different people, but most importantly, for me, it was learning essential values of life while shaping me into the person that I am today.

Transitioning from the middle school to the high school is a big change for a student. When we moved to the high school, we thought freshman Friday's would be all year and that it would be very difficult to find our classes. However, freshman Friday's only last the first couple weeks, and there are lots of link leaders to help the freshies find their classes. School is a big deal here in the high school. 8th graders should follow our tips if they want to be successful in the high school.

Big hallways, lots of people, and knowing where all the classes are. “I didn't know high school was going to be this tough and frightening”. If I were to give advice to upcoming eighth graders, I would tell them behavior requirements are a priority, along with academic, and attendance requirements.

A decision that will last a lifetime my parents had to make was a name between Alexis and Malori. I was four days away from being Alexis. I am Malori Kristine VonTobel and active within the school. I participate in Sunshine Society, Student Council, Pep Club, Knitting Club, Drama Club, volleyball, cheerleading, and swimming. Being this active and still having time to complete my senior project shows how determined I am with anything I do.

I remember being an anxious eighth grader thinking about starting my freshman year of high school. We went from being at the top of the school to being at the bottom of a new one. All of our middle school teachers always told us about how our high school teachers wont “hold our hands” and how we will be on our own. Being in high school is completely different than being in elementary school and middle school. Its almost like each year we have more and more freedom but more responsibility.

“Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” Said John Dewey, a very successful philosopher in the 1920’s. To get through life you need education; to get into college, to get a good job. The most important rules to a successful education are: focusing on what is important, not getting involved in drama, and knowing that you aren’t entitled to anything in life. If you stick to this, you’ll fly through high school, just as you did middle school.

Entering high school is the beginning of a whole new learning experience. Transitioning from middle school, high school presents more classes, students, and a bigger campus. It brings new expectations and responsibilities to each of us. High school also offers fresh chances to make new friends, try new sports and activities, and really explore who we are as individuals. The goal is to maintain good grades, score high on the SAT test, and keep a positive attitude so colleges and universities will accept you. Of course it's not as easy at sounds, but it's achievable. My experience as a eighth grader at the Middle School was good. The skills and knowledge that will help me as a freshman at the high school would be to complete assignments when due, advocate for myself, and try to acommplish getting good grades, and at last staying organized. I am looking forward to strive for good grades, and being successful throughout the school year. High school is always considered some of the best years of life. Students live with their families, see their friends almost everyday, and participate in the activities they love with the people they love. It has enough freedom for the student to decide how hard they will try, but it also has just the right amount of restrictions that parents can step in to make the student work. High school also gives students many opportunities to succeed and keep letting them try again if they fail. For example, a math teacher may allow a student to retake two test throughout a semester, but if the student proves that they are trying in the class then the teacher may allow them to retake a few more tests. Throughout my high school career, I have learned that being successful in school can lead you to many different opportunities. One opportunity that I was given was that I joined my high school's Beta Club Chapter. It was an honor to be invited to join because how involved the Beta Club is with the my school, community, and state. This past year, I was selected to represent my school as I ran a campaign to become the North Carolina Beta Secretary. Although I was nervous, I opened my mouth, and the words just began to come out.
