When one hears the word “success”, he or she typically thinks of having a nice car, a large home, and plenty of money. But, success has nothing to do with the materialistic things. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, success is a favorable or desired outcome. Therefore, success isn’t the amount of possessions someone has, it is being content with his or her situation. Success is the noun form of the verb to "succeed". Mentions of the word began in 1531, as a way to describe an outcome, both good and bad. Having a positive outcome was irrelevant because either way, they considered it a success. Today, success is typically only used when something positive happens. Most dictionaries define success as an accomplishment, achievement, or
Is that success? What or who defines success? Different people have different interpretations of what success means to them.
As it is commonly used, the word "success" is sometimes synonymous with another word — "winning." Success is beating the other guy and getting the big salary. Success is what happens when other people think you're a success or when you can convince them of it.
Everyone has his own definition of success. For some, success means wealth, power or fame; but for me it means attaining my goals, always giving my best and knowing that I have tried my hardest despite the outcome. Success is not something that reveals itself immediately, it takes time and patience. I would not be the person I am today if I hadn’t received the love and support given to me by my mom and my grandparents. They taught me respect, the importance of family and to believe in myself. Success is about living my best life and being confident about my own decisions.
There are many different understandings of what success is. Some relate success to money, others relate success to happiness, but it all depends on the type of person.
Merriam-Webster defines success as the fact of getting or achieving wealth, respect, or fame; the correct or desired result of an attempt; someone or something that is successful; a person or thing that succeeds. The definition of success differs from one person to another. Most people work their whole lives to accomplish their own personal success, in which, everyone views differently. Success among many individuals can be connected with The American Dream, the idea that every US citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through work, determination, and initiative.
Success is something we all reach for. As human beings we love accomplishing things and reaching for our dreams. Success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose, as well as a person or thing that achieves desired aims or attains prosperity. We gain prosperity from succeeding. Succeeding in the workplace, on the athletic field, in the classroom, and on the list goes.
In my eyes, success can have a variety of different meanings. I believe success comes within a person and their dreams. It doesn't have to mean you're the richest person or have the biggest house. I believe in a more humbling success. In other words, success displays one who has reached his own personal goals and is happy and content with the outcome of the chosen goals.
"Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.”
Success has its peaks. Not the holding the typical definitions these connotate. When I hear these words money and a mountains top does not come to mind but rather the events of my past and my quick upcoming future. To me peak can be defined as one's point of highest achievement; while I find success to not be measurable by the amount of money one makes or job title but rather the joy and passion received from what you do; this is the definition I choose to define success as. To be successful does not mean achieving only one ultimate goal stopping further achievements. Never stop working towards something. To ensure my success I plan to not stop after achieving my goal of becoming a wildlife rehabilitator but rather continue on my education
Most people commonly describe success, as being wealthy in life. This is not the meaning entirely, the definition of success is simple. A person is successful, if he or she has very good payment at his or her work and if he or she is happy with the job, they are doing. Education really leads to success. If a person has good education, he or she can choose their careers and be successful at it. Education is a form of learning in which the knowledge and skills is being transferred from a group of people to another or from a generation to the next, through teaching and training. Any experience that has a formative effect on the way someone thinks feels and acts can be said to be educational. Apart from education, other different traits lead
I believe everyone envisions success as something a little different. For example, one person might believe having a family and being married is being successful, while another person might view success as having a degree in a field of study and a high paying job. I, personally, do not think success and happiness are in any way connected because they are so different. Let’s take college for example, if your dream job is being a doctor and helping people makes you happy, then you will be successful as well as happy, but if you get a degree in another field because it pays better, you can be successful, but not as happy. I can imagine being successful without being happy. Some might view success as being rich, having a big house, and a family,
Success is a word that really hard to define, because everyone will have a different definition for this word. In fact, there no exact definition for the word "success". For a student, maybe the success means to pass all courses of the semester; for a business man, signing a importance contract and get a lot of money are successes; and for a president, leading the country to develop and make the people have a better life are success. For me, I also have my own definition for the word "success". When I was a kid, I really want to be a scientist, but after I become mature, my thinking has become more mature and my definition of success also
According to The American Heritage Dictionary success is, "the achievement of something desired, planned, or attempted." Even over the course of history, the meaning of the word has not really changed. In the Webster's Dictionary from 1828, success was stated as, "the favorable or prosperous termination of anything attempted; a termination which answers the purpose intended; properly in a good sense, but often in a bad
What is success exactly? There are so many different variations of how you can achieve success. Success does not just come in a neat package all wrapped up with a bow on top, sometimes success requires a struggle. Success can be something small or it can be something big. For example you could consider getting an A on a test a success or becoming a millionaire a success, there are different levels of success. One aspect of success that that has not been taken into consideration, which is in order for you to be successful you must be happy, at least that is what I believe. Going back to the example of becoming a millionaire, sure you may be happy about having money at first but soon having all the money in the world will not make a difference to you. You will go day after day wishing for something more and it probably will be something that money cannot buy. However if you are happy with your job and how you earned the money that is a different story, you have succeeded. According to Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary success is defined as “the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence.”
Success is an event that accomplishes its intended purpose. Success can and does mean different things to different people. Most people agree that accomplishing the goals that they set for themselves is success. My achievements have ranged from being a learner to just being me. Accomplishments don’t have to be a big hurrah moment, it could simply be a thought of wow, I actually did it. I’ve had my fair share of large and simple triumphs, but they’ve all been moments that have made me into who I am today.
