To get a better understanding of study abroad, I interviewed Hailey Weaver from the study abroad office at Saginaw Valley State University. Hailey Weaver is a study abroad peer advisor (Weaver). She has been working at the study abroad office for seven months (Weaver). She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in graphic design (Weaver). I asked Hailey questions about what I needed answers to help me decide if I want to study abroad. The best advice she gave me was determining which credits I would be able to earn while studying abroad (Weaver). It gives you information about different programs to study abroad and gives you the opportunity to apply for scholarships and financial aid (“Reason”). This website was about reasons why I should study abroad. Studying abroad can be a challenge for most people, because of being away from home, family, and friends for so long. There are ways you can communicate with your family and friends by Skype, phone, and FaceTime. Once studying abroad, you will have a unique change in life experience. While “gaining an understanding for cultures other than your own, you will also gain intangible skills such as independence, time management, organization, social skills and self-confidence” (“Reasons”).
