A new college student of Cromwell College, Lucy is focused well on doing well her academic. However, as the semester progressed, she became more obsessed with doing well on future exams. Additionally, being raised by strict parent often adds unnecessary pressure to an already stressful college environment. It was clear by her parents that she had to stay in all-female residence, if she did not meet their standards, she would be forced to return home. From the added pressure from her parents would lead to her cheating on a future exam. However, even with the added pressure from her parents, Lucy is still guilty of violating University of Houston-Downtown Honesty Policy, for she had access to unauthorized and violated procedure by not protecting …show more content…
First, Lucy has brought to the attention of the committee that Professor Sanders’ exams were same as Professor Jackson’s from the last year. Accordingly, Lucy knew that many students had access to those pervious exam materials, and why she should not have access to that material that give other students an advantage. Another point brought up by one of the members of the committee was that Lucy clearly stated once she realized the nature the document. She quickly put it facedown on the table to keep from seeing the questions on the exam, showing clearly that she knew that she should have access to the material. With this in mind, Lucy clearly knew she should not have access to that material, but she went on anyways the following days to study for exam with the unauthorized material. Further as disturbing as it is that other students possibly have access to unauthorized material from previous year of taking the exam. We must remember that Lucy does not have any evidence to back up such claim, and we are only going off the supposes words of other
Jade does not receive adequate treatment from her counselor when reporting a recent sexual assault. Her integrity is questioned, and the counselor advises her to forget the incident ever happened. The rapist receives no punishment or consequences for his actions. Cases similar to this hypothetical situation occur regularly. Victims of sexual assault often resort to dropping their cases due to the lack of support and services offered by the college. Students continue to fight for the fair treatment of everyone on campus. The problem with reporting sexual assault during college lies in the unfair treatment of the victims and the limited consequences and punishment for the rapist. Colleges have attempted to lower
5. The letter informed him that he may have violated the FHSU’s Student Code of Conduct, specifically its provisions related to compliance with general laws and drug policy.
At a public high school assembly of roughly 600 high school students, Matthew Fraser made a speech nominating a fellow student for elective office. Fraser had discussed the subject matter of his speech before the assembly to two teachers. Fraser’s teachers had informed Fraser that the speech should not be delivered because the speech was inappropriate and that it could lead to severe consequences. In his speech, Fraser used what some students believed was a graphic sexual image to promote the candidacy of Fraser’s friend. Bethel High School had a disciplinary code that enforced a rule prohibiting conduct that substantially interfered with the educational process
Alexis, meet with Espin in her UNLV office, Espin was extremely rude, and mean spirited with Alexi’s causing her to cry. Kathy did not want to hear anything since she had already sent a formal complaint to the UNLV office of student conduct. It appears that numerous potential violations occurred during this so-called impartial investigation. Professor Hausch provided a letter outlying
A young white Hartford student, Brianna Brochu, was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree breach of peace on Saturday for bullying her university roommate, Chennel “Jazzy” Rowe. Police arrested her after she boasted online calling her “Jamaican Barbie” and admitting to tampering with her belongings. She has confessed to atrocities such as “putting her toothbrush where the sun don't shine” and smearing period blood on the girl’s backpack for nearly over a month. Rowe was not aware of the harassment until she became fed up with feeling unwanted in her own room and as she was moving out a dorm an advisor approached her and showed her the post. This atrocious hate crime is being dealt with by the University but after they asked Rowe not to talk about it, she refused to let it be swept under the rug and livestreamed her story.
4.On the Principal's Statement document, Ms King writes that Olivia has had 3 incidents resulting in major school disruption, this is untrue occording to Olivia's Behavior Detail Reports. This statement libelously defames Olivia's character.
Jane Elliot somewhat exploited her relationship with the students which according to the APA code of conduct is not permissible and she also did not have consent from the students or parents to perform the
I believe what Garfinkel means in background assumptions is how we commonly go throughout the day and the order we do things in. In my norm violation I am going to not follow the order my culture eats dinner in.
The first amendment is; freedom of speech, freedom of press, freedom of religion, and freedom of assembly. The first amendment should never be limited. If the first amendment was limited, then it would limit the beliefs of American citizens. When it comes to high school students, they should not have to worry about censorship. The first amendment proves that high school students have a right to say what they desire. That’s supported by freedom of speech.
I believe I should be considered for this honor because the actions I have taken from the moment I stepped on this campus encompass the pillars of The Maroon and Gold Society. For instance, my current position within student government tasks me with helping the members of the organization to develop and harness their leadership abilities, as well as finding their place in the Loyola community. I do what I do at Loyola because I truly love this university. I became a Resident Assistant because I wanted to share and create the love and community that I experienced my freshman year. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone find their home within Loyola.

Originally created as a discipline action of last resort for students who cause unsafe or threatening environment or substantive clear and present danger with threats of violence and are possession of weapons in the school, out of school suspension are now being used to address minor offenses such as disobedience, disrespect, attendance issues, or other general disruptions (Stinchcomb, Bazemore & Riestenberg, 2006). Suspension were used judiciously and cautiously as the impact on the student and the perceptions of that suspension by the community was understood to be socially debilitating and cast the student and the family in a bad light (Advancement Project, 2015). It was not until the move towards school reforms in the
Hazing in universities across the nation has become an increasingly dangerous ritual that is seemingly becoming more difficult to put an end to due to its development into an "underground" activity. Though a regular activity in the seventies, hazing, a possible dangerous act of initiation to a group, has now become an activity that is banned in thirty-nine states (Wagner 16). However, this ritual has not been stopped or become less severe. In fact it is becoming more dangerous. Since it has been banned, with many colleges imposing their own penalties against those participating in it, many fraternities and sororities have pursued this activity in an underground fashion. Since these groups have gone underground, some victims of these
About seven years ago, I went to Six Flags for the first time ever. I was only about ten years old at the time, and of course I was extremely nervous. I had a lot of questions about it because of course it was all new to me with it being my first time going to an amusement park. I had asked about the big rides they have of course, the really popular water park they have at Six Flags, and of course I had to ask about the good amusement park food. As soon as I got there, my heart instantly dropped.
In my Norm Violation assignment I chose to break the common dining etiquette norm of eating with your hands. Since eating with your hands is only deviant behavior in certain dining situations, I chose to break this norm at a local sit-down restaurant in Eugene, Café Soriah. I went to the downtown restaurant with a group of friends for an afternoon meal without telling them of my Norm Violation assignment. Being the only informed one in the experiment seemed like the best way to get the most candid reactions from my peers.
