I wish to participate in the Keystone Internship Program because I am passionate about pursuing a career in public history in Pennsylvania. I fell in love with Pennsylvania’s rich historical tradition the first time that I visited the battlefield at Gettysburg. My time spent working for the National Park Service confirmed my love for Pennsylvania’s heritage. As I researched in the Gettysburg library, I kept discovering fascinating information regarding other cities and towns in Pennsylvania that also had treasure-troves of history. As a result, I decided to travel to many different historic sites, parks, battlefields, and homes in order to contribute to the preservation of Pennsylvania’s historical legacy.

I am very excited to learn about the paralegal position at the medical legal partnership program (MLP). I am currently a legal assistant at MLP. I have a law degree from Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. I have also attained a Master’s Degree in the International Commerce and Policy program from Valparaiso University in Indiana. I have recently been accepted to the University of Washington for an LLM program. I believe both my educational and professional experiences along with my dedication to assist low-income clients make me a suitable candidate for this position.

My career interest is in health law because coming from a business background in the healthcare field, I recognized the importance of delivering quality health care with equitable access and fair and transparent prices to our communities. Discovery to Cure High School Internship Program will help me achieve my future goals because it will provide me an opportunity to perform extensive laboratory research as well as learn more about reproductive science, a field of medicine I am very interested in. This program will give me an opportunity to perform research beyond the realm of high school and will be a great learning experience. I am a third year graduating law student at the University of Mississippi Law School in Oxford, Mississippi. My first year of studies was completed at Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I am interested in securing a clerking position with your law office. If accepted, I hope to use this position with your law office as part of the University of Mississippi’s Spring 2017 Internship Associate’s Position Program for-credit hours.

This fall semester, I carried out an internship in the legal department of El Sol, Jupiter’s Neighborhood Resource Center. I assisted the legal program coordinator in filling out paperwork for clients and sat in on consultations with El Sol’s laborers about immigration and visa status, wage disputes, traffic tickets, and other legal troubles. On my first day, I quickly learned how difficult it is, as a part of a non-profit organization, to give people all the help that they need. Part of El Sol’s mission is to “give services to those in need” and they succeed at that in many ways. For example, El Sol’s School for Parents program taught parents positive reinforcement techniques for disciplining their children, such as praising good behavior and listening to their kids. The program as very well-liked by the participants, who felt that they learned useful lessons through the classes. However, in the legal department, it was more difficult to help people to the full extent of their needs.

All my knowledge in service marketing and sales were very helpful and useful during my internship. They bring me a lot of new ideas to be focus on what I’m doing and what to expect from me. Particularly during my MiBA studies I loved to read marketing reports, they are all very useful to have a global vision to marketing strategies of the company. During my internship I saw how the marketing chief plans this report with a new form of planning that actually it’s use by programmers, it’s call “Planning Poker”, this game should force people to think independently and to avoid the influence of the other participants. That was something innovating for me.
