1. Please detail why you are interested in returning as a returning employee at the MGCC. I am interested in reapplying for the position and to continue working at MGCC because I want students of color to feel connected through the development and culture exploration that is faced every day on campus. I want to help gather the community to go through obstacles together. I would like to return as a staff member to coordinator cultural activities and to continue working to improved events and to let more students know about the seven cultural centers. 2. What do you believe are your top three strengths and how have you utilized them as a student employee at the MGCC? I’ve always considered myself to have a strong work ethic. I am committed to doing whatever it takes to meet deadlines. I also have the ability to cope with failures and learn from …show more content…
And to be specific for the Black student at UNC it is a challenge but with support students can upsurge their confidence and be more involve. The areas I need to improve on is academically: I know that my G.P.A does not qualify me to apply but I hope you see my hard work ethic toward my classes this semester. I have work harder than ever to get to my goal of G.P.A by the end of the semester and I hope I can accomplish my goal by the end of this semester. 4. What has been your greatest contribution to the MGCC? My biggest contribution to MGCC has been to get more students to be involve and to know what the cultural centers are. I have been reaching out to different kind of students and letting them know who we are and what sources we offer. With the events, we have hosted students have been able to show up more because of the student staff members. 5. How do you build relationships with (1) peers, (2) co-workers, and (3) people you do not
I am excited to be one of the candidates for the 2017-2018 National Junior Honor Society. I understand that the National Junior Honor Society is for students who demonstrate exemplary scholarship, citizenship, service, leadership, and character. I believe that I have maintained a grade point average of 3.55 or higher and have shown all of the five given standards of the National Junior Honor Society. I believe that my involvement with the National Junior Honor Society will help me to prepare my future as a leader, character role model, and good citizen.
4. What qualities or unique characteristics do you possess that would allow you to contribute to the UCF community?
Keeping in line with Marietta College’s statement on Diversity and Inclusion, it is important to map out a plan to make sure we are living up to the mission of the college. In order to fulfill this mission, it is necessary to have students from diverse backgrounds represented on campus. However, having students on campus is only one aspect of D&I work. Understanding the make-up of the college and the surrounding city, it is necessary to ensure these students have the support to be retained through graduation. In this effort, I propose the creation of a three part program that will assist in this effort. This plan will involve
Again, thank you for considering me for this position. I look forward to hearing from you.
Because of my work ethic and dedication, I am truly passionate about whatever roles and activities that I assume. I always handle the task at hand to the best of my abilities and willing to give it my all. As well as this, I am able to voice my opinions and viewpoints, which I consider to be one of the most important qualities. Along with all of those traits, my experiences have provided me the capacity to cooperate and communicate with a variety of people is also essential.
I have exemplified advancing the academic excellence of my community with both my executive position within Council of Black Students in Administration and my participation in College Mentors for Kids.
This opportunity welcomed me into a community fondly referred to as “Black NCSU.” At the African American Cultural Center, I was surrounded by love and support from both students and staff who wanted to see me succeed on campus. Having a community of intelligent and successful black staff members was an escape from the daily exhaustion of being black in a predominately white institution. Each microaggression was fuel for my intense fire to see a change on campus, which was representation. Representation is important because it gives those who come after us the motivation to strive for more: “I am because you are, you are therefore I am.” With this new motto in mind, I applied to be an Orientation Leader with New Student Programs. Fortunately, I was granted a position as one of six other African American students. Knowing how fortunate I was to have this opportunity I used my position as an Orientation Leader to welcome the class of 2020 to the university. However, I will acknowledge my own bias. I paid special attention to students and families of color as I wanted to be a familiar face to inform them of spaces for black students. I was further able to reinforce this familiarity as a Multicultural Symposium Counselor through Multicultural Student Affairs (MSA). MSA gave me a platform, a voice, to reach younger students of color and pass on the message of
Overall, I am a devoted and well-rounded student, making me a perfect candidate for National Honor Society. Not only do I posses the four tenets, character, scholarship, leadership and service, but I am also constantly working harder and striving to be better in all four regions. National Honor Society will help me reach my goal in becoming a better student and person. In addition, being a member of National Honor Society will allow me to be an example for other students, just like the members had been for me. In conclusion, I should be a member of National Honor Society because I demonstrate excellence in all four tenets of National Honor Society.
As one of the very few young black women in the Anthropology department I feel I can bring to the Black Student Union Organization a sense of empowerment. Being a double minority especially in an academia setting can be a bit intimidating. School is usually the place where you are a bit close with your fellow peers so when you are placed in a position where you don’t have much of an advantage as someone who is maybe not your color or gender you may shy away from doing the things you truly love. I would like to give others the sense of comfort and enjoyment I find through being motivated and going that extra step to be successful. I feel as though part of your experience with anything, whether it be a new major or a new job, depends on how dedicated
These strengths include organization, participation, and creation of checklists. I feel I stay very organized in this class, as I have all of my documents organized inside my binder ready for a notebook check. In regards to participation, I try my best to raise my hand nearly every class. I stay active and focused so that I can obtain all of the information. I also ask questions frequently which helps me to avoid mistakes or any confusion. My final strength, the fact that I create checklists, has benefitted me immensely. Checklists help to make sure all requirements are met for any project or essay, which is how I received a 91 on my Pilgrim Presentation and an 85 on my Canterbury Tales Short Essay. Checklists have helped me to score higher on assignments with multiple requirements, but not all assignments were as simple as creating a
I am respectfully requesting that the Graduate Council grant my reinstatement to the Master of Arts Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. The circumstances that contributed to my poor academic performance and the reasons why I will be successful in the future are stated as follows.
This letter is to express how grateful I am to receive this scholarship. I want to thank you so much for everything. It is so good to know that there are people out there who care about my education. By giving this scholarship, you are really helping many students achieve their life goals. I can hardly wait to start working on mine.
My academic achievements and work experience meet, if not exceed, the requirements of the position. I strongly believe my intimate knowledge of the College of
I felt my strengths were communication and collaboration. I felt comfortable with the students, nurses, and the infants on the unit. I feel it’s important to have open communication. I encourage the students to ask me questions regarding lecture, clinical, and/or there medical surgical lecture. I feel the students also respect me and valve my input because they ask me questions each week. If I don’t have the answer, I’ll look up the question and email them.
