Darwin’s theory of evolution by natural selection is a theory that is and has been widely accepted for many years. The reason for this widespread acceptance is the many strengths that Darwin’s theory has. However, even though this is true, Darwin's theory has a few weaknesses. Darwin, although close, did not paint a full realistic picture of evolution with his theory. This means they were eaten by predators more often and thus could not produce as often. The black moths on the other hand could blend in easier and survive to reproduce more often. Overtime, the majority of the black moths had turned black. This is evidence to Darwin’s theory because it shows how species constantly change and adapt to meet the needs of their environment (Reece, 2011). Although Darwin hit most of the main points of evolution, his theory did have some weaknesses. One weakness with Darwin's theory is that he stated that all evolution happens very slowly and over a long period of time. Now, this has been proven false as some new species have formed over only thousands of years (Reece,2011). Another flaw with Darwin’s theory is that he only states that one mechanism, natural selection, drives evolution. In the modern day, we know know that there are three factors that drive evolution natural selection, genetic drift, and gene flow (Reece,2011). As history progresses, many new changes and revelations come up that makes us rethink how we think things. Although the present theory of evolution is widely regarded to be an acceptable theory, will this change in the future as we come across new evidence? And what could the new theory of how humans came to be actually be?

There are a lot of misconceptions about Darwin's theory of evolution. One of the biggest is that he called the theory by that name. Albrecht von Haller used the word "evolution" in 1744 to mean "to unroll," so the word was around in Darwin's time, but Darwin never used it in the sense we use it today. It was added later by others, including Herbert Spencer, who is responsible for the theory we call Social Darwinism. This theory is misnamed; it is not based on Darwin's work, but Spencer's.
One example of Darwin’s idea is a much more recent discovery relating to HIV. Today’s scientists and researchers can actually see the process of natural selection in front of their own eyes, which is something that, unfortunately, Darwin could not do. Once HIV is inside the white blood cells of a patient, the disease reproduces briskly, which causes causes mutations. Every time after the cell reproduces and drugs are administered to the patient, the drugs go in and attack the weak cells, killing them off, but the virus dominant ones win over the drug, eventually becoming almost immune to them. If members of a species show variation, and there is a struggle for existence, then any sort of trait that carries some small (or large) advantage to survival is likely to be transmitted to the next generation. By being able to survive better, these members of a species are able to reproduce more, leading to a tendency to pass down that advantaged trait more often to their offspring. This repeats ad absurdum, leading to evolution and survival of the fittest. Survival of the fittest counters Paley’s second and third premises; that of there are two possibilities for how organisms came to be perfect for their environments and that it must be design by a designer. A key factor of Darwin's evidence on the evolutionary process was the Finche. During his travels to the Galapagos Islands Finches became the main evidence to support his theory on the evolutionary process. Darwin was able to identify Finches that had various shaped beaks. Studying them more in depth he was able to establish the reasoning for these changes creating his theory of natural selection and gradual evolution over time. With the ability to draw and write, Darwin had little struggle documenting his findings during his time on the H.M.S. Beagle. Contrary to the popular belief that Charles Darwin first thought of the theory of biological evolution, it was actually an idea that had been around since the ancient Greeks. Though the idea had been apparent since then, the term “Evolution” first appeared in 1647 but wasn’t talking about the evolution of organisms. Instead evolution was used to describe the progression of something from simpler beings. However, it was Darwin who introduced the idea of Natural Selection. Natural selection is a process in which species slowly evolve by gaining heritable traits that help them survive better in their ecosystem. Charles Darwin began his scientific breakthroughs and upcoming theories when he began an expedition trip to the Galapagos Islands of South America. While studying there, he discovered that each island had its own type of plant and animal species. Although these plants and animals were similar in appearance, they had other characteristics that made them differ from one another and seem to not appear as similar. Darwin questioned why these plants and animals were on these islands and why they are different in ways.
